    I don't see a thread on the EV2.

    So starting this one.

    It was officially revealed today.

    Some interesting snippets.

Two battery sizes - 42 kwh and 61 kwh - the 42 is an LFP.

You can choose a 5 seat or a 4 seat option - the latter has Inster style sliding rear seats.

A number of trims will be on offer.

Before I say this I'm going to say i am a kia fan, absolutely love the ev6, ev9 and ev5 is a good looking rugged machine too, my father's sportage is a cracker of a car too........but is shrinking the floor plan and design of a big SUV into a dwarf version in ev3 and now ev2 taking it further again resulting in the ugliest cars on the road?

They just look very out of proportion or something. Subjective I know.

Does everyone want SUVs so much this has to be done? Why isn't it a hatchback !

well they have an EV3 and 4 hatchback already I guess…

They've a fantastic lineup in fairness and good cars, just on the design I feel its trying very hard to be something it's not.

Not alone in that of course.

We can't all like the same thing I suppose, R4 is kinda doing similar I just happen to like that

Hope it does well though, I like the brand and I'm all for smaller cars too

quite a bit bigger in the flesh, some overlap with EV3 in ways.

Oversized barge. 90% of people who buy these things would be fine in a hatchback sized car. It's way beyond time we started taxing cars on their GVW.

The front while a bit blunt looks ok and the side too. But that rear is just odd. I think the lights could have been higher. It just looks out of proportion and the interior looks very dull.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

But yet this is a relatively compact car in actual dimensions.

What weight do you think it is??????.

My local Kia garage has emailed a reminder about the "first drive" weekend for the EV2 this month. Although the LR EV3 would be more suitable for me, I might see if I can fit it in all the same, depending on work commitments. Anyone else planning on taking one out for a spin?

Only found prices for the UK, starting at £24245 for the 42kWh Air version. Every other version has a 61kWh battery with the GT-Line S being the most expensive at £32995.

I like the price for the Air 61 kwh.

A lot of battery capacity for the price given its a mainstream brand.

Any details of standard spec per level? Big battery Earth is interesting if that's the price after delivery charges.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,863 ✭✭✭podge3

All those prices are before delivery etc. Add another €1.2k to €1.4k for OTR.

So I reckon about €35k for the Earth LR.

About €5k less than the EV3 with similar sized battery - assuming the trims are equivalent.

Thanks for the above. Long range Earth looks best value to get the V2L but then it's only €1K more to go to the GT.

How big is this compared to an ID3 say?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,560 ✭✭✭joe1303l

It’s about 20cm shorter than an ID.3, width is similar. Rear legroom or boot space are likely to be compromised by comparison. ID.3 GTX looks better value to me.

many people will never use V2L. It says the adopter. So I assume that the others have the capability. You just need your own V2L adopter , which can picked up for €100. - €150

The Inster doesn't have V2L here so I'd caution that it's just a matter of getting the adapter but you could be right.

The Inster Cross has V2L (according to the website)

Anyone knows when will these be available to test drive?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,659 ✭✭✭MarkN

I think the ones used at the launch event the other day are going to dealers. The majority of stock is planned for 262.

    Thanks Nobby!

Test drove one in Wexford today, well sat in as a backseat passenger with the MIL who was going to buy one but got devastating news from the sparks that she needs to get the tails upgraded, so all is on hold until she finds out timelines on all of that.

Very little info available with it tho. Wanted to charge her €450 for a service plan without telling me what’s included in it (to cover 2 services at 30k/2years and 60k/4years), tried to charge €600 for the white colour, which on the configurator is free…

In fairness she got a very decent trade in price, a free charger (need to find out type - with 2 years of Energia subscription) and a €500 voucher for SuperValue.

Was told she can have one in 2 weeks - Earth 42.2kw battery - ideal for her tipping around town and the county.

The MIL picked her car up on Thursday. It’s a lovely yoke, perfect for her needs.

She asked me for a bit of help with the infotainment system set up and boy it got me a bit worked up…

Is there a way to have the maps on by default in a “Tesla” style where if she puts in a destination it will show her the remaining battery? I can find it in the phone app, but for some reason the system defaults to google maps (possibly as they set up Apple car play for her)

I’m yet to figure out how to remove some of the unneeded “tiles” of the screen… like why would a bike carrier be on the main screen by default?

Any advice appreciated from people with a Kia EV in the know…

The Gt Line is just silly money. You could have an M3 for that money.

Like the EV5, looks like no 360 camera for Irish spec models, can't see any mention on the IE website in spec sheets or brochures.
