So is a Premium RWD not a thing?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,873 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

RWD/Premium RWD is gone, just like what they did on the Y

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,873 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

It's not that bad, outside is pretty much identical, the seats are not an issue to many, it was plastic, now it's textile and plastic, my rear screen has never been used, nor the rear heated seats (I assume they are gone), the biggest change is actually the suspension but the pre Highland had good suspension (unlike the pre Juniper), on the plus side of things there is a small range increase.

All in all I would prefer to have paid an extra grand for what was the RWD but that arguement is academic as no longer an option.

I would bet there are RWD on the boat and they will pop up in Inventory come end of Feb/early March

Just looking at the Standard - initial thoughts are that it's not as cheap as I thought it would be but then they haven't removed that much spec either,I notice that the radio and power fold mirrors are still there for instance.

in other markets like Germany it seemed the standard was 8-10k cheaper, here it looks like the premium long range rwd is a much better buy that the standard? 200km+ extra range and a fair bit of extra spec

    matrix lights not been removed?

Is the price reduction only 1500? Or less even?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,895 ✭✭✭...Ghost...

That's a disappointing reduction. A few hundred quid between the old and the standard. For anyone who got their orders in before the RWD disappeared, well done!

Here’s what all they have removed-

    Front Ventilated seats

    Rear heated seats

    Rear screen

Ambient lighting on dashboard & doors

2 speakers (probably lower amp unit now)

    AM/FM Radio

    Powered seats

    Half vegan leather seats

Suspension is a basic setup now

.1 second slower now while gaining ~15 km of range.

Was planning to book RWD today/tomorrow for wife but not going ahead as some of the features are a must. Tesla cork staff said they weren’t aware of this change, and they got an email this morning. They are still getting to know what’s removed/added.

Do they still have motorised/memory seat/steering wheel positions for multiple driver profiles?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 522 ✭✭✭Jasper79

I think the WLTP range is actually down slightly, it was 550km on the rwd model on the 18 inch wheels. Tesla since 2023 have always been great value buy. think they're going to struggle with these changes to the 3 and Y now

That's an appalling price for all they've removed. I had to double check because the price is so close to the RWD that was on the site before. If it was closer to 30-32k, maybe it might be a consideration.

Basically what it looks they're doing is trying to nudge people into the Premium/LR models - look for just a few K more what you'll get.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 404 ✭✭SummerK

WLTP for 18inch wheel was 520km IIRC. I guess removing a number of features may have reduced weight in turn increasing a bit of range.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 404 ✭✭SummerK

Tesla website doesn’t mention about powered seats meaning it’s manual adjustment now 😬

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,202 ✭✭✭corcaigh07

Definitely an attempt to get people into an LR model, same as the Y. Shame that the “premium” standard RWD models are gone.

Im picking a new standard RWD one today. Ordered early Dec. Glad I'm getting it when I am. The cuts are too much for the cost change.

Is the FM radio not still there???

I think the new standard should have been a little cheaper v the old RWD.

However I quite like the half cloth seats, also looks in pics that they have gained a little lumbar support?

And at least looks like they will all have the forward grill camera, unlike some of the inventory RWD.

But what else can you buy brand new for €36.5k that is in any way comparable to a Model 3?

Limited colour options too on the base model. Black, white or grey for the exterior, black only for the interior.

Does this qualify for the €500 referral discount?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,512 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

In the US the delta between original and new 'standard' was 5/6k?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,235 ✭✭✭AmberGold

Waiting on a Model 3 RWD w TowBar ordered in Dec, now weighing up the possibility of Tesla switching me to the Standard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 543 ✭✭✭boosabum

Indeed and with the trade in option it was somewhat of a bargain, not such much now which is a shame for the consumer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 404 ✭✭SummerK

I think you should be ok as Tesla staff told me had I placed an order yesterday, then I would have gotten higher spec RWD car.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,873 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Nope, there's no discount like that in Ireland for years apart from a few LHD Model S and X

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,078 ✭✭✭PGE1970

As someone who is driving a M3H since April 2024 (when it was/is my first EV), I wouldn't fret about the ambient lighting or the rear screens (most passengers would prefer their own phones/tablets).

The old fogey in me would miss the powered and ventilated seats though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭eagerv

It will state on the order document, if ordered yesterday will be the higher spec RWD

They wont, it just may take a little longer to fulfill order. Or keep a watch out on inventory
