Central and South American countries have a bit of a track record of making a balls of leadership.

Fred Trump's abuse was directed towards Donald's older brother, Freddie. Freddie became a pilot, a career Fred Sr. had no respect form. He saw it as no better than driving a bus. He realised that Donald was the logical successor so he funded what Donald is now.

Just to be clear I'm not at all suggesting trump suffered childhood trauma.

What in doing is saying that IF he did, it's zero excuse for his behaviour since.

They do and this one has all the hallmarks of all the other US led disasters. In particular Chile, Guatamala, Nicaragua and Panama. The comparisons will be clearer as the vacuum for power unfolds.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

It's a bit more complicated than that. Removal of Maduro to be replaced by what exactly? The orange dictator is not liked or trusted in Venezuela (or anywhere else in South America), meaning there is a fair amount of anxiety in the country at the moment, rather than jubilation.

No worries. I knew that. I was just adding some info I've read over the years.

All three shots from the killer were at the side of vehicle. The killer now has immunity from investigation

Are you of the opinion then that it is ok for such a severely traumatised person to be holding down and exercising the powers of the U.S president or should he be set aside under the powers in the U.S constitution to prevent an unstable person misusing the powers of the presidency, as is being shown regularly by the 47th officer holder?

We're less than a week since the Venezuelan people have been freed from 30 years of dictatorship.

They are in celebratory mode right now. They are thinking positively. They are not happy with Rodriguez being put in, boys she's simply a puppet and as I said, will be gone very soon.

They're immediate future lies in the hands of the US, but they will see free elections to determine their own government.

Let's be clear here, the US are there for the oil and rare earth's. The Venezuelan people under Chavez and maduro saw absolutely no economic profit from these due to the dictatorships arrangements with foreign powers, mainly Russia. So do they really care that the us are in there now for their oil??? Not so much, they aren't missing anything the got previously

New footage of the shooting, she wasn't a protestor, she was just dropping someone off.

the forensics should tell a lot eg no of bullet holes in windscreen. The drivers window , I think , was fully down. I cannot imagine how one could shoot a woman in the face and at such close range and a white woman at that

The 'self defence' argument goes right out the window when you see him shooting into the side of the car and from the side at point blank range. He was shooting to prevent her from leaving the scene, not because he felt threatened - a massive overreaction, given that there was no reason to believe she was a suspect or a criminal.

Trump has threatened Cuba, Colombia and Mexico in the last week. Does anyone believe for even a moment he is a 'friend' of central or South America and means only well for them? He's already said he is opposed to any new elections in Venezuela - it's more that he is trying to set himself up as dictator and with the Americas as his sphere of interest.

Did I say that??? No FFS.

I responding to the point that some posters claim the Venezuelan people and not happy with the removal of Maduro and are anxious about the us intervention. Some may be, but the overwhelming majority are delighted with the current situation.

They haven't profited from oil since the early 90s, in fact the economy has shifted greatly due to resources being focused too much on oil (see Dutch disease)

The Venezuelans can now see a path to change, where their economy can grow due to a self determination government and not a dictatorship. Whether that happens if not it's yet to be seen but they are positive right now.

It's ignorant in the extreme to suggest that Venezuelans are not happy with the current situation.

I'd like to see that creep Vance defend these pics and videos. I watched Sky News yesterday and I felt the media were very soft in their questions to Vance. Maybe they don't get access if they go too hard, I don't know. More signs of fascism. Sad to see the US media so beholden.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

    Rubbish.

He said he won't have elections in Venezuela in the next 30 days.

If you equate that "opposed to any new elections" then you have a serious comprehension problem.

I can't believe I'm here having to explain stuff like this, but FFS people read a little before you post.

For example, if it was Higgins, Robinson, McAleese - do you think they would offer a Nobel peace prize to someone like Trump to gain power? No chance.

None of them have had to live under a dictator with their lives threatened just for wanting a better future. I would suggest we haven't a clue what they would do as none of them have ever come close to being tested under those kind of circumstances.

I think giving up a chance to create a better future for your people, however slim, because you would refuse to hand over a bit of metal to an incredibly powerful child is borderline psychopathic. These are real people's lives we are talking about.

You think Trump will allow new elections in Venezuela in the next year or two? He has already threatened Delcy Rodriguez with 'the same or worse as Maduro' if she doesn't toe the line and follow his orders.

The, uhh, evidence (e.g., the car) now under the control of the FBI with no access by the local authorities…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,070 ✭✭✭Potatoeman

Why would anyone think they can just drive away from armed law enforcement telling them to exit the vehicle. Sure, just drive off towards them and ignore them. I’m sure it will be fine.

And still his actions were entirely illegal under the rules officers are expected to follow. Shooting her automatically places the public in danger. They also prevented her from getting medical attention at the time... All these red flags seem to be getting ignored.

Funny that none of you guys seem to say a word about the fact the administration is making up a load of nonsense to justify murdering the woman btw. No evidence of her being part of some protest convoy. No evidence that she was a terrorist... No evidence the officer was even injured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,341 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

Hopefully her family legal people will be able to fight any exclusionary order from the DOJ and FBI denying them access to evidential material and the car proper.

Genuine question to everyone - I have been following US politics for years and years. For many reasons which I won't go in to. I just cannot figure the last year out in the minds of the American people, as a nation.

Invading Venezuela. Greenland is going to happen to. Nato, Tariffs which is aggressive trade warfare. Relations with Russia, China, Israel. Relationship with Europe - which will be finished when Greenland happens. Epstein.

I just cannot figure out how this is acceptable to the American people as whole, as a nation. How more people are not speaking out against this. From both sides.

Where is this all going to end? Has the USA always been like this and the mask is just slipping under a leader who is not a career politician ?

Yes,I wonder how many people could have been killed if the same rules and tactics were applied to the Capitol attack?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,496 ✭✭✭✭Jelle1880

Why would anyone think that it's the right option to fire on a car that is driving away and is no threat to you ?

If she drove away without being allowed to what you're supposed to do is either follow, or ensure her license plate is noted so you can locate her later.

Unloading your gun into the car isn't one of the acceptable options.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,496 ✭✭✭✭Jelle1880

'But he'll definitely allow elections in Venezuela' lmao

He doesn't even want his own people to have elections, why do people think he gives a **** about Venezuelans getting elections ? Anyone still thinking this was done to help Venezuela is an idiot.
