NYT have done an analysis of the shooting using every angle they could avail of.
It makes it crystal clear that this was a murder.
The video analysis shreds the admin's position completely.

As does the shooters complete disregard of ICE procedures.

The Department of Justice says in its Justice Manual that firearms should not be used simply to disable a moving vehicle. The policy allows deadly force only in limited circumstances, such as when someone in the vehicle is threatening another person with deadly force, or when the vehicle itself is being used in a way that poses an imminent risk and no reasonable alternative exists, including moving out of the vehicle’s path.

He is a menace, but as much as I despise Trump, I don't want to see him assassinated. Political violence is wrong in all forms.

I wouldn't have any confidence that the us military would refuse to invade Geenland or even that the Trump administration would not use a loophole to commence the operation without congressional approval. The US military, appears to be concerned on whether the orders are unlawful, rather than they are morally wrong.

The thing that scares me the most about America is that it has entered the post-empirical era. We can all watch the same objective footage and digest the same facts. Yet, facts become a partisan issue. And there is no longer a consensus on what is right or wrong. Everything must be viewed through the lens of the person’s political system. It runs the risk of their society descending into anarchy on when they cannot even agree on black and white footage.

Trump cannot refuse to run mid-terms because they are not ran by the executive.

There are a lot of things that we previously thought were never going to happen and here we are… With this administration, all bets are off

To the idiots who support him yes. I'm sure Assad and Maduro are also martyrs to their fans.

The vast majority of the world would love it. Wouldn't shed a tear over his kids either. If Dugin's daughter was fair game in Russia, why not Eric or Don Jr or Trump's darling Ivanka? They are disgusting humans all of them, as bad as any mafia clan but on an infinitely bigger scale.

Someone should go grabbing at Kirsty Noems door next time she rocks up and when she's been driven away shoot her and claim they were in fear of their lives. Its been deemed a reasonable response.

It's clear that the US military / law enforcement etc have been captured with this Administration. Shooting a mother in the face - It's grand, nothing to see here. It is disgusting at every level.

Mostly I agree. But not in this case, he is himself a murderer who sees only two kinds of people in the world: pro Trump or anti Trump, and anyone not pro Trump he clearly views as scum. There is no fate too bad for people like him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,901 ✭✭✭threeball

If its one Trump vs the thousands that will die due to his presidency then its an easy choice.

I just wouldn't like to see him be made a martyr. Hopefully he chokes on a Big Mac.

Given his health issues, he may croak before 2026 ends. Hence the acceleration of his batshit crazy plans in Venezuela, Greenland etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,044 ✭✭✭RickBlaine

But he literally can not. He has as much ability to cancel the mid-terms as he has to cancel the Rose of Tralee. The midterms are ran at a state level. Trump can shout and scream all he wants to about cancelling them, but they are ran by state officials, I think mostly by the states' Secretaries of State. At the absolute worst, there may be some state officials of red states who are MAGA zealots that might cause problems for that individual state but even then the state courts could intervene. So if Trump announces the mid-terms are cancelled, and the states will just carry on regardless.

If The Gulf of Mexico can become The Gulf of America because...reasons...then clould Greenland be named Epstein Isles? 🤷‍♂️

Wouldn't be someone you'd want to make a martyr of. MAGA might eventually fall due to infighting and everyone trying to out-edgelord everyone else, but if Trump was killed that would be a huge way to rally it and rekindle the spark.

This part of Mon Mothma's speech from Andor earlier in the year could not be more relevant.

I believe we are in crisis. The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.

Reading the comments on the DailyMail is shocking. Are many people actually defending this in real life?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,036 ✭✭✭rogber

Ice murderer has been identified, let's hope people make his life hell from here on in and that he some day faces a long prison term:

I watched the speech from Trump re:Venezuela. I have refrained until now on commenting, for fear if I travel to the US for work. I watched Hegseth- the speech was reminiscent of some high-school jock giving a speech to the Football team, stating how we’re gonna win this f-ing state championship for the first time in decades. I suppose it appeals to the Americans who peaked in high-school. Only 30% of Americans go to University. For many, given the brokenness of society in the US, they peak in high-school and that is probably their only time feeling part of a community with hope.Education is no longer something to be aspired to. The costs and opportunities make it prohibitive. It no longer assures a better life. Instead, vulgar wealth is the only way forward.

The president and his people represent the aspirations of the nation. I think that they like the fact that Trump is probably no brighter than most of them. He probably is as crass as they are. He is their figure of what they would be like if they were fabulously wealthy. This is why they like him. Because they believe that without his money, he is essentially one of them

Minnesota officials say the Feds are blocking state police from accessing the case files in the ICE shooting.

    Cover up.

Hardly, the post I responded to states 'not suppose to fire at a moving vehicle' and I agreed

The first comment on one of their reports on the Anthony Joshua car accident last week read. "Good, that's two less Africans in the world."

I think most of the more deranged comments on there, are from people working for The Mail itself. Just stirring the pot and rage baiting. Better off staying well clear of it.

There is nothing positive that can be taken from this women`s murder other than there is no way anyone anywhere can now make any credible argument that this is not a regime from top to bottom of Nazi-like scumbags

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,342 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

My apologies. I went back and saw instantly what you meant. I misunderstood the meaning of your post connected to the rule of not shooting at a moving car as it would be a loose cannon ball then.

Trump pulls out of 66 global bodies.

I doubt that, they will have control of it within the year

One line in Trump's statement today about the GOP Senators who sided against him in the War Powers vote telling the GOP voters not to vote for them again reads loud and clear that he knows he's lost some compatriots and is likely to lose more when those same Senators start talking in ones and twos to other GOP Senators to change their position. Trump is running scared of his measures and plans being voted against more often in the Senate and eventually losing their confidence in his ability to get things done. The "lame duck president" title is getting to him.
