I wonder did Dean, Máiréad and Phoebe have a merry Christmas together!

Eastenders put together a flash forward episode that will keep us guessing for the next 12 months.

The best the clowns that write this show could come up with is arguing over a christening and a few cases of wine going missing.

The way that Eastenders dealt with Nigel's dementia was brilliant writing ……

How come Orla isn't poking her nose into winegate?

The Fair City writer's memory isn't great either?

Strange holly didn't have any reaction to james and hayley getting back together. Is her and the young lad still living in raffertys?

I though Holly looked very AI.

Don't know if Sashs' mother has ever been introduced, I'd love Beverly Callard to play Sashs' long lost mother, or someone to that effect, if true I don't want the production team to make Bev a bland character, when Bev puts her mind down to it she can play the part extremely well,

I know there is a Hullabaloo over her leaving Coronation Street owing to creative differences and poor scriptwriting, etc, and fair city can be pretty much silly at the best of times, but that's why we watch it a break from reality, funny and fair from miserable, I watch all the soaps in Ireland and the UK and shortland street.

Corrie for example has gone downhill, seriously unfunny storylines, crazy drama, to serious, sometimes just sometimes they, Corrie get the issue based storylines right.

Back in Corrie's heyday and Bev's, the balance was just right, no extreme crazy storylines, and the actors new and well established had a say in the storylines and direction, not totally but there was that option to say as an actor I'll say it like this and maybe do that this way, now the big bosses and production team say right do this, it has to be done this way, no excuses , no backchat, the actors have no opinions now, apart from a few that's been around a long time and has the pulling power to get viewers watching

I personally know 3 actors who appear on FC and they told me themselves FC can be funny and stupid and tries to be serious when needs be but all the actors have an input from newbies to long term, and as one of them said if FC changed to the opposite of what is shown now people will turn off.

Also FC/RTe has not gone the same trend as the soaps in the UK where viewership has fallen dramatically in the last decade, FC has bucked that trend and viewership is stable and just as strong as a decade ago.

Sash's mother died from a drug overdose. Beverly Callard would want to be very good , to do the inner city Dublin accent! But you never know. As mentioned already probably a connection to Victor, would make the most sense with a UK slant. She could be a very good addition alright. She was great in Corrie back in the day.

I had forgotten about Ian and thought he was Steo when he reappeared - until he opened his mouth!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,120 ✭✭✭✭freshpopcorn

I think we'll either be sick of the sight of Beverly or she might only be in it for an episode or two.

She could have some connection with Lorcan/Ali.

just watching the actor who plays Ian on Titanic sinks tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,120 ✭✭✭✭freshpopcorn

He's back again for his grumpy few weeks. I thought we dealt with his issues.

I think Beverly Callard will come in to sort Lorcan out and clash with Carol in the process. She could be related to a boyfriend of Ali or something.

    Orla is so annoying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,120 ✭✭✭✭freshpopcorn

    Ian's character is annoying also.

He appears basically bullies Greg, makes sexist comments, Maxine defends him, etc.

They've done it so many times now with him.

Once they did give us a sob story for him.

Thought Sash and Ian had reached some sort of truce a while back but yet she filmed his encounter with Holly and put it online. Don't think Holly would be too happy to have that encounter online either - very intrusive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,419 ✭✭✭Photobox

Ya was surprised at that too. Sash is always so self righteous.

Is Maxine supposed to be the company's HR officer? If so, she's terrible at the job.

How did Sash get back to Carrickstown from Montrose so quickly? Battle of the howya's on DWTS last night - Sash and Karden Byrne

Corriedale tonight putting Fair City to shame!

So we finally got a glimpse of the infamous "site" for the first time in years and no sign of any development being done on it 🙄

Is Holly's sugar baby past a secret? I thought everyone knew since it was being screamed about on the street the Christmas before last? I thought there was references to it with Holly between Juliet or Zoe at some point too?

I presume Greg and Holly will bang at some point in a twist as we were lead to believe that Jess might cheat again with Steo.

I do kind of hope Orla and Paul get back together. They're well suited together and deserve each other. Surprised Paul hasn't had another heart attack with all the stress he's under though.

I thought it was pure muck. Far fetched and just silly overall. Crash after crash with everyone being distracted. Would have been better if a few emerdale characters turned up on the street for a couple of episodes or something like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,256 ✭✭✭diceyreilly

Corriedale how ever far fetched is a billion light years ahead of FC.

I actually cant watch one more minute of Paul n whats his face randomly bumping into each other 6 times an episode talking about wine. Its so boring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,379 ✭✭✭CollyFlower

I thought Paul was well off after selling his house and downsizing. 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 817 ✭✭✭CassieManson

I agree- it was so dark that it was impossible to follow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,287 ✭✭✭GAAcailin

since when did virtually every member of the FC cast gather in Vinos; was ridiculous Paul discussing going to Spain when our friendly Garda arrived in.
nearly every storyline has an element of earwigging or people walking in on a conversation at the ‘right time’ 🤦‍♂️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,628 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Not only should Ian be sacked, but Maxine too. A contractor to the Rafferty firm informs her that she is being sexually harassed by one of the company's employees and yet she dismisses her and tells her she is imagining things.

Its ridiculous how Dean has been absent every time Ali has been back. At least a scene in passing where they acknowledge each other and maybe give Mairead a bit of jealousy and Phoebe an even sourer head.
