Not a hope. I'd say it's more a combination of Netflix marketing the documentary and animated special between seasons more than anything else.

The idea of ending the show like that, outro music and all, only to say yeah we have one more episode is just wishful thinking at best from those unhappy with it.

Plus.....IG and TikTok shilling. 90% of it is bullshit for traffic.

Watched the 'finale' back again last night. Something that I hadn't seen mentioned and struck me as odd, at the graduation when the interference comes through the speaker when the principal is shouting for them to get back into their seats etc, and Mike notices it and appears to come to the realisation that El couldn't have used her powers to pull him into the void because of the hedgehog devices….. how did he come to this realisation as normal people (that didn't have powers) couldn't hear those devices at all. Like when El first came into contact with them in the Upside Down, Hopper hadn't a clue what was wrong with her as he couldn't hear anything.

If all of it was in Mike's mind then it might make a bit of sense 🤔

They could have discussed them while making the plans for the final attack, specifically getting through the military base to get into the Upside-Down, or what might happen in the Hawkins Lab. Or even just her telling Mike about what happened them and how they debilitated her with those types of devices.

It's the kind of thing that if Mike didn't already know about them, he also then couldn't imagine them in his mind.

I'm sure they had a few chats about events in the 18 months that had passed.

He was probably told of their existence by someone, most likely 11.

They appeared a few times in the final season.

In the military base in the upside down, on a truck in the upside down, on a helicopter in the UD, then finally by the gate in MACZ in the final episode.

So he was surely aware of them by then.

A different point but thought it interesting, they made sure to show that there was a tunnel in the Radio Shack.

In the first episode Hopper used it and he used it again in the penultimate episode.

There was a scene where Dr Kay took the black soldier into the radio shack and he was accused of opening the gate for the others to enter the MACZ.

I wonder what was the point of this scene since we know Dr Clarke copied the signal to open the gate.

On another note there's footage online of El running from the truck towards the Radio Shack in her wetsuit.

The footage wasn't used in final episode. It doesn't really prove anything but I thought it interesting.

When the Great Escape plan fell apart and the Demos attacked Mike tried to lead Derek, Mary and another to the Radio Shack to escape

Maybe it's the woke in me but Fallon dressing up as Derek, in a skit led by Vecna doing an 80s fitness video no less, seems a bit mean spirited. I'm surprised that JCB would agree to that.

I wonder what Derek would have to say to Fallon. 🤔

Derek was a little punk at the start but I came to like him.

The part where the kids made it to the cave with Henry hot on their heels and Derek spun around and shouted 'suck my fat one!' made me lol.

It was the same with Steve, he started out as a typical jock bully but morphed into a very likeable character.

Derek was the MVP. He also hit Vecna with a "your mom" joke.

    Just to ad another storyline bit that didn't ad up & backs an ep9;

Mike tells Hopper on the park bench that he often wishes that he & El would elope or escape to a far away land with 3 waterfalls. Retelling that to his pals in the basement (albeit he was talking about the mage) we see El escaping to a land with 2 waterfalls. Intriguing?

Also, why no more storyline on what happens to the military & in particular to the Linda Hamilton character? Wouldn't it be a usual trope to see a baddy get their comeuppance?

There are two in front of her and one to the side.

The army just letting them go or whatever happened once 11 was dead was just lazy. Hopper took out a whole platoon and should be dead or in Guantanamo.

I think they just agreed to keep quiet and move on.

    Hopper knew too much.

They also saved the world although I guess they couldn't prove it.

I try not to overthink it and apply too much logic.

If you tried to explain the plot to someone who hadn't seen it, they'd think you were insane anyway.

One interesting thing I noticed rewatching S4 is that when they were talking to Eddie at Skull Rock they were discussing killing Veccna and they said they'd drive a stake through his heart and chop his head off, which is actually how he dies in the end.

Anyway I really enjoyed it and look forward to the animated series.

It really struck a wonderful balance between horror, suspense, adventure, mystery, comedy, emotional moments, 80s film references, good characters, good plotting and pacing etc...

I thought it was a small piece of antimatter? When Nancy shot it over the lab that's what it looked like iirc.

Slightly off topic....but for anyone who is thinking of seeing the stage show, Stranger things the first shadow…go! it is genuinely absolutely bloody astounding.

It's excellent alright. Well worth seeing!

Worth bearing in mind that it was co-written by Jack Thorne, who wrote last year's must-see 'Adolescence', along with The Duffer Bros.

It's some sort of rock or piece of the Mind Flayer. Apparently it's partly explained in that Stranger Things play they did, and will feature in some spin-off prequel show they're likely going to be doing. That's why the Mind Flayer was able to use it to connect to or control Henry.

The only plausible thing I have seen about extra material is a leaked list of a documentary and a 10 year celebration event to be released every 6 months this year in between the animated seasons release.

Agree, and I actually liked that they didn't do a cull of characters. Ever since GoT I think people have come to expect that in a show but there is nothing wrong with a happy ending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,913 ✭✭✭orangerhyme

Dr Kay would not have known that 11 went into the void with Mike.

I think a good end for Dr Kay would have been Ronnie Reagan or George Bush chewing her out in the oval office, maybe demoting her or kicking her out of the military and scrapping Poppa's program once and for all.

The character was generally pretty pointless. Would have been better to keep Brenner alive or another character we had already seen.
