American Fridge Freezer not dispensing water

set up is as follows (since installation and fridge never moved)

Fridge not connected to mains water (only the water reservoir is used)

The ice maker is switched off (never ever used from day one)

Literally the water dispenser used to dispense water from the reservoir in the fridge that’s all

pump/water auger sounds like it’s working/trying to pull water but no water is being dispensed

reservoir is full

brand LG about 4 years old

Searched the web but no solution found

If it’s an air lock as nothing is coming through it’s hard to unblock it

Does this water still go through an internal filter before being dispensed I wonder, never been changed if such a filter exists 🧐

There is probably also an electric solenoid (tap) at the dispenser to turn the water on/off. If may have failed. Most of these are exactly the same design and are used in showers, dishwashers and washing machines.

The instructions for you machine will show the internal filter or if one should be fitted externally. The Samsung machines use an internal filter and want it changed every 6 months. I have one with the same filter for 20 years...
