Is there any devices which can monitor your gas usage? Trying to get a measure on mine and have to go outside to the meter each time to check it.

    Hi

Did you ever get anywhere with this? I've been looking around on and off for the past while and not had a solution yet.

From what I've read, there is a magnetic pulse on the gas meters and people have come up with some interesting projects to report on the pulse to get into Home Assistant(or other). I'm not sure if it is still the case with the newer digital meters, but I wonder if a smart door/window sensor could catch the magnetic pulse. From there I guess you would need to do some smart jiggerypokery in Home Assistant to tell it that it is an energy monitor, and what the pulses mean.

I'm going to see if I can get my hands on a sensor give it a try on mine…although I have no idea where the pulse magnet is, it will be trial and error.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd be interested to hear them.

    Con

maybe you could monitor the electrical consumption of the boiler or pump ? It might be proportional to the gas usage.

There is a previous post I thought. I found this:

I had a read of the HA thread, and it looks like I have almost the same gas meter as the OP and the same markings on the meter. Wouldn't mind doing this, however my concern would be that when the meter is being read by GNI, they may think it is some sort of tampering? Has anyone come across this before?

And on second thought, adding any device beside the meter, may be considered a hazzard? Even if it is just a battery powered device..
