Is the opposition rallying in streets? Any sign of them trying to overthrow the government. You’d think if that were to happen it would have started by now. Maybe America thought that would happen too.

Does the fact that the actual people who live in Venezuela are overjoyed by these events not mean anything to you? You know better than them do you?

I do hope they can get their actual elected government into power. Obviously it's very early days so let's just see what happens.

there are two FUNDAMENTAL parts to the whole issue of Mondero’s rule and they are two very independant and very separate issues

No (1) the majority of the Venezuelan population may not have liked Mondero and may have their ‘ own ideas ‘ about how to remove him from power and probably would have put some thought about the structure to replace it. The US has done it for them and apparently have not put much thought into it about the new structure to replace him

So , part(1) is complete and just because the US did it gives it ABSOLUTLY NO RIGHT to get involved , have a say or whatever in the planning and implementation of PART (2) .That should EXCLUSIVELY be 100% in the hands of the Venezuelans. It is none of Trump’s or the US business

Yet here we are. Trump says that he will sort out part 2 and he might consult some of the ‘locals’ eg the locals that are critical to the operation of the oil extraction, pumping and export structure, such as engineers

Maduro was an authoritarian. Does that mean Trump is entitled to invade and take their natural resources?

Of course they have leverage, they just tell countries selling BYD to stop until BYD agree to give 51% of their company to the US. Do you really think the US is going to let China dominate the EV market?

What if the actual elected government thinks it should have control of its own resources/policies and America says no ,it is in charge of them?

Is this why Trump is not expediting her return to power?

Is he looking for a Quisling and looking to see if she will play ball?

Has he any idea of what he is doing?

Two wrongs don't make a right FFS.

It's possible to simultaneously understand two distinct things - that Maduro is a scumbag, but also that another state should not be allowed to blatantly illegally depose said scumbag, purely to get cheaper oil.

Doing so absolutely does make you a 'bad guy' even if the other is also a bad guy.

Maduro being removed is not a bad thing, and good on America for doing it so relatively painlessly.

But.... few Venezuelans are celebrating this, there are no videos or clips of an street celebrations. Instead, right now, they are all wondering who's on charge, what happens next, when will it stabilise.

Meanwhile Trump is ad hocing his announcement, as usual. Saying we're in charge - They're not - , we're going to decide on next leaders - which a) shows they had no fecking plan for after and b) suggests Venezuelans get no voice, he's also saying we're here for the oil, we might need to attack again, the obvious alternative is not good enough.

No wonder they are not celebrating

Watching Sky News now, he is barely staying awake.

America is a laughing stock now, a leader that can barely keep his eyes open. He couldn’t point to Venezuela on a map.

A number of months ago he said Ameirca would take over Gaza so I think his ambitions are not always achievable. Unless they have the support of some of the Venezualan military and basically replace one domestic dictator with a foreign one.

The dollar is on the way out. BYD can be successful selling in China alone. The chances that the rest of the world listen to anything the US says anymore is fanciful. The world is moving away from America. They won't be turning back.

Going by this criteria, Trump should be taken out tomorrow and no one should object. Hes an authoritarian dictator, with no respect for rule of law or his own citizens. Personal power and enrichment is all he seeks.

How is that any different that Maduro. At least Maduro kept his affairs in house. Trump has threatened at least 10 countries at this stage.

He has literally said he wants to take their oil and give it to American owned oil companies.
No Venezuelans support America coming in and stealing their natural resources (unless they're collaborators who are selling out their country)

    Ban billionaires

Indeed he spent most of the press conference talking about oil, oil, oil. He barely even referenced future governance of Venezuela, apart from saying Machado would not be involved.

Trump is not able to hide it. He's demented

So much in that long winded, and rambling news conference this evening.

Trump: "It has to be judicious, because that's what we're all about."

You mean the drugs were relegated to an afterthought?… that must blow some Trump sycophant minds

Pretty fascinating watching Trump fans justifying this ****... He could do absolutely and his supporters would praise it. Now we get to watch the likes of Russia or China justifying expansionism...

A little bit of lightheartedness in all this madness. This is the real reason why Trump has removed Maduro.

    Trump felt threatened.

Putting out there a hypothetical. How would the US respond if some country carried out a similar operation, fly in at the dead of night, bomb numerous Israeli targets, kill Benjamin Netanyahu's henchmen, arrest him and his wife?

It would be OK though, because Trump has demonstrated you can do what you like, and there's an arrest warrant for Netanyahu from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

There was a segment on a show where they went and canvassed the street and asked people "What would it take for you to not vote for Trump?". They even said "If he was proven to be a child molester, would you still vote for him?"

    You can guess the answers.

According to Trump, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in as president and had been in contact with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“She’s essentially willing to do what we think is necessary to make Venezuela great again,” Trump said. Rubio added that Congress was not briefed ahead of the operation.

Maduro is Venezuela’s only president, says VP Delcy Rodriguez

“There is only one president in Venezuela, and his name is Nicolas Maduro Moros,” Rodriguez said in a televised address to Venezuelans hours after the U.S. strikes and Maduro’s capture.

President Trump said that Rodríguez was sworn in as Venezuela’s new president, but her show of support for Maduro’s presidency appeared to dismiss Trump’s remark. She told citizens that the attack on Venezuela was “barbarity” and demanded the U.S. release Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.

    Trump's statement aged like milk.

How many Americans right now are thinking this

Besides keeping the Epstein files out of the news, here is another reason why Trump has done what he did.

The democratically elected President is Edmondo Gonzalez, who was backed by her.

I've seen the ones where comedians cite the various things Trump has done but claim it's Biden. The Trump supporters jump to locking him up. 😂
