After Israel banning NGOs, seems Gaza is once again deteriorating.

And cue the outrage at Jolie visiting Egypt, especially after the outrage at Thunberg.

    Haaretz:

Foreign ministers from Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt expressed deep concern over the "deteriorating humanitarian situation" in Gaza, worsened by severe weather. The foreign ministers warned that lack of aid, essential supplies, and low temperatures increase the risk of disease.

Actor Angelina Jolie visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing with Gaza, speaking with Red Crescent workers and truck drivers delivering humanitarian aid, AFP journalists reported. According to local media, Jolie said she came to assess the condition of Palestinians transferred to Egypt for treatment and to examine the flow of aid into Gaza.

    Mamdani doing this is unwise

You seem to have a problem with this particular elected official. Presumably you have the same thoughts about Ben-Gvir, also an elected official. No?

The irony - Israel needs to look in the mirror. Their Security Minister is an actual convicted terrorist and racist and their leader is an alleged War Criminal at large.

But not surprising coming from Chikli. This is a recent meeting he had:

"In November 2025, Chikli met with far-right American conspiracy theorist and self-described "proud Islamaphobe" Laura Loomer in Jerusalem, calling her "a courageous woman, who clearly understands the threats facing the West from radical Islam and its growing influence in the US.""

    Haaretz:

Israel's Foreign Ministry said Mamdani had "show[n] his true face" and accused him of pouring "antisemitic gasoline on an open fire. Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli said the decision showed Mamdani was "an overt antisemite and a supporter of terrorism."

Seems New York's Jewish Communities are hopeful as regards Mamdani - certainly not "unwise".

    Haaretz opinion piece:

"'Now that Zohran Mamdani has formally taken office as the 112th mayor of New York City, the inevitable challenge of transforming soaring campaign rhetoric into policy will doubtless be seized on by critics who believe him inexperienced.

But if the mayor himself must confront the humdrum realities of governing, his more apocalyptic detractors should also begin to reassess their hyperbole upon contact with reality.

I am hopeful this will be a turning point for the liberal Jewish community, away from an 'October 8' politics of fear, and towards one of hope and optimism about our place in New York"

Settlers raid Palestinian homes so the IDF tear gas them (the Palestinians of course).

Palestinian media outlets reported that 15 people required medical treatment after the IDF used tear gas on them in the village of Khallet al-Louza, south of the West Bank city of Bethlehem. The reports said the use of tear gas came after Israeli settlers raided the village and threw stones at residents' homes.

A Palestinian Bedouin family abandoned their home near the West Bank village of Taybeh following recurring harassment by settlers from nearby outposts. In the footage of their expulsion, shown to Haaretz, a masked man holding a club is seen watching the family as they leave their home.

TThis Is exactly what it appears to be.

An Israeli, on US television, saying "We" need to limit the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution.

And this is partly why Trump signed an Executive Order banning states from regulating AI.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

We need to limit free speech in order to protect it.

Sounds like that old Vietnam soundbite 'we had to destroy the village in order to save it...'

Ireland has also adopted this IHRA antisemitism definition, as have most western countries, the EU, UN etc Not sure why this article is painting it as something unlawfully "imposed" by Eric adams. It does seem unwise for Mamdani to go against the grain in this way, when this is a definition which has been accepted as reasonable by most of the world. Not really helping his image of not being a friend to the over a million Jewish people who live in NYC.

There's over 7M people living in NY who aren't Jewish, the vast majority of them i suspect who are appalled at how the Jewish state has behaved in recent years.

Israel has almost completely eroded the goodwill that Jewish people largely received from much of the world for the last 80 years. There are consequences to actions, as they've been quick to tell everyone to justify what they've done to Gaza.

Mandani should not bow excessively to the minority just because they have powerful PR.

To be fair, Israel and the Jewish terrorists that preceded them have stolen a huge amount of Palestine and continue to do so.

no it's the correct thing to do.

being a genocidal, racist apartheid colonial emperial state has consequences.

Its an internationally recognised definition of what constitutes anti semitism, and is not explicitly related to just Israel. Ireland has also signed on to it, have you been campaigning for it to be dropped?

I would imagine it will be reinstated before too long anyway.

This is what the IHRA says about criticism of Israel if anyone cared to read it rather than relying on dodgy internet sources. What is wrong with it exactly?

Manifestations might include the targeting of the state of Israel, conceived as a Jewish collectivity. However, criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic.

What is wrong with it exactly?

    This is easily Googled.

I quoted literally the only thing that the IHRA says about israel. Why would I need to Google it? Perhaps you can explain the issue you have with it, when they say themselves that merely criticizing Israel "cannot be regarded as antisemitic".

The issues that people have with the IHRA's definition of "antisemitism" can be easily looked up.

Jewish people don't like the insinuation that they control the media, (ignoring for a second a Jewish billionaire calling this week for the limiting of the 1st Amendment in the US.)

This will definitely help dispel those rumors. 100%

Why does a private company have a "Head of Jewish Diaspora" in the first place?

The tragedy the media ignores, imagine the World media headlines if Palestine Action were protesting against Iran.

British pro-Palestine detainee, Heba Muraisi, has lost her ability to speak after more than 60 days on hunger strike in a UK prison, with fellow prisoners repeatedly hospitalized and lawyers and UN experts warning of possible death

    Ssshhh

The website, Track AIPAC, has for the first time begun placing advertisements in public spaces drawing attention to the money congressional candidates receive from AIPAC and other related groups. The initiative aims to inform voters about candidates who accept funding from the powerful pro-Israel lobbying network.

Israeli media reported on Friday that the government in Tel Aviv is actively considering launching a broader military operation in Lebanon, citing what it described as a renewed “Hezbollah threat” following the ceasefire period.

According to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, discussions have moved beyond reliance on airstrikes, with ground or large-scale operations now under serious consideration by senior decision-makers.

Two sources familiar with the discussions said the issue was raised by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Florida.

Israel wants ownership of the Lebanese and Syrian coastlines and offshore resources.

it's also an internationally disputed definition of what constitutes antisemitism.
what is wrong with the definition is that it is written in a way that claims that criticism of israel is okay, but ultimately says it is antisemetic.

They are being held in detention without trial and left to die because the UK supports your favourite terrorists, correct?

So they're being given food, they're just not taking it.

Silly stuff. There are some actual genocides going on in the world, like in Ukraine and 3 being perpetrated by the Chinese, but no sane person in the West is risking their health like this over them. At least not in this manner.

They are protesting against a genocide and ethnic cleansing. That obviously means zero to you as you continue with your embarrassing pedantry. Their hunger strikes mirror those being imposed by Israel on babies and children in Gaza as well as adult Palestinians. Only people without any humanity make a joke of what is happening.

@SeanW How are you so confident that there is no genocide being committed in Gaza?

You’re putting yourself to be on a pedestal as a genocide scholar as you can determine that there are genocides in other regions. Yet for some reason you dismiss actual genocide scholars and neutral organisations who state that genocide is occurring in Gaza.

    Why is this?
