Because I actually look malnourished around ~22 😂

I guess it all depends on person's body constitution. 🤷

I'll make sure to keep it at 24.99 😅

BMI is a measure tool. Not a target to aim for. Obese is 30, not 25.
The normal range is all normal. There's no extra normal in the middle.

    I started treatment in September

I've done one month on 2.5mg and just finished my second 5mg pen

BMI down from 33 to 28

    Weight down from 101kg to 86kg (15st/10lbs to 13st/8lbs)

Just this week I'm starting to notice the hunger suppression isn't lasting as long and my appetite increasing slightly.

I'm still eating healthily and avoiding snacking between meals but I'm starting to feel hungry between meals this week which wasn't happening up to now.

Weight loss is ok, maybe nothing one week then down one or two lbs the following week.

I'm just wondering if it's time to move up to 7.5mg or do another month on 5mg?

Do you use glp1plotter? Maybe you just need to increase your frequency as opposed to increasing dosage?

Maybe check the trend and see where your levels would be if you took 5mg every 4 or 5 days. I’m assuming the suppression works for a few days and then tapers off? If that’s the case, try keep the level up.

I inject on Sundays but noticed a difference in appetite early this week (Tues/Wed)

I fairly wolfed my tea down yesterday evening which concerned me a bit 😐️

    I'll have a look at glp1plotter, thanks.

    Obviously not medical advice, etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 Donohoe10

Lost 4 stone and now at maintenance finding that harder than losing. Need to find my middle ground

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 10,717 ✭✭✭✭guil

Have you got any medical advice on taking a jab so often? That's almost the same as someone taking 15mg per week and I think you started Mounjaro recently enough?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭Soarer

Yeah I did, and no it's not.

    I started in July.

Can absolutely confirm this through bitter experience - lost 105lbs in 2020 (fasting and exercise) and put 130 back on through February this year. Keeping it off is much harder!

I'm down 25kg since January myself. Have only titrated up to 1.75mg since November from 1mg which I was on since Jan. I have to say though, I'm struggling with nausea the last two weeks with the higher dosage which I didn't have before hand. Moved from Ozempic to Wegovy as well but that doesn't really make much difference

Looking at starting the injections as heading into obese category with blood pressure issues. I don't actually have diabetes and my blood sugars are fine. I realise I can discuss all this with my GP.

I'm just researching the costs for now and it looks like the injections are not available through DPS. I currently pay the maximum €80 per month. Does anyone go up North or to UK to fill the prescription? Is it any cheaper?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 771 ✭✭✭glen123

I am getting it from the North and yes, it is cheaper.

Pricing at the bottom of the page. They have even started providing consultations with Irish GP to get the 1st script (50eur) with renewals being 30eur.

    https://corryschemists.com/weight-loss/

    https://weightloss.weightlossinjections.ie/

I see my own GP every 3 months as I'd like him to look at my bloods + I get 75% back from Laya for the appt. I then post my script to Corrys, they send the link to pay for it and it gets delivered by DPD within 1-2 days.

Of course it is. Common denominator is 21 days. Over those 21 days you are taking 7 doses of 6mg so 42mg over 3 weeks.

Eli Lily says you should only take it once per week and never within 3 days of another jab

Are you on mounjaro? Boots is the cheapest in the south for Ozempic AFAIK. It used to be just under €128 but has gone up to €136 and they offer something along with that but I cant remember what they told me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 158 ✭✭Bannerman1969

Looking to purchase the Mounjaro needls in store or online rather than use syringes. Anyone have a link / store where I can purchase in ROI. Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭Soarer

Lilly also say you shouldn't take the golden dose.

There may be a similar level in your system when averaged like that. But taking consistent lower amounts never has the same spiking effect as taking single bigger doses.

But if it's alright with you, I'll listen to my GP's advice and keep doing what I'm doing. Thanks for your concern though.

I am on Mounjaro. I get 5mg pens and give myself 2.5 injections once a week so it works out ok per month with the 5th free dose in each pen (around 90eur per month).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 10,717 ✭✭✭✭guil

Absolutely listen to your gp but when you say something like ''I'm doing my own thing'' it sounds like you are doing something without advice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 10,717 ✭✭✭✭guil

Interesting, how are you finding Mounjaro?

i have been on it since mid March and lost 32kgs so far with 5 more to go. I was on 2.5mg for 3 months, then on 5mg for another three months. Then took a break for a few weeks to see how I feel. I didn’t start eating more but stomach started rumbling like crazy so went back on 2.5mg. The only thing is that I never ate much to begin with, didn’t eat sweats etc but used to snack a lot before bed in front of tv and all these snacks had crazy calories. Now I have just one and I feel full

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭Soarer

I did do it without advice. But when I went for a check up the other week and told him what I was doing, he had no issue with it. He's very much a "if it works for you, drive on" kinda GP. Which is why I have no problem trying stuff out.

just signed up with myBMI for mounjarno. My bmi is 33 at 32 years of age. I was always “heavy” but have creeped up from 70-90kg over last 6/7 years with covid and 2 pregnancies. Looking forward to starting and hope I’m as successful as a lot of people on here.
start weight 89kg, goal 65kg but if I got back to 70kg I would be ecstatic!
myBMI probably not the cheapest but I’ve chosen it as I get 75% back on consulting fees and for convenience of getting started asap. With 2 small kids and not living anywhere near border driving up there isn’t realistic.

Incase anyone else want to take the plunge. This will get you €40 off first dose

I have lost 4 stone on MJ and hit target a while ago. It has changed my life

    Nice end to the year.
Hit 164.6 today, which is under my original 165 goal.
Gonna start cutting back now. Gonna drop from 6mg every 3 days to every 4 days and taper down from there.

    Incredible product.

I think the cutting back part of things is where regular updates and feedback from posters might be most appreciated as it seems this can be one of the biggest challenges in the journey...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭Soarer

    Happy New Year all.
I’ve no problem mentioning how I’m getting on. Just don’t want to be looking like I’m trying to be all “look at me!”
So I’m supposed to take a 6mg shot today (1st), but am gonna leave it off until the 2nd. Will see how it goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 659 ✭✭✭Minier81

It is not at all "look at me". I've been a reader for months and am due to start MJ in next few days, gp will have my script ready tomorrow or Monday. I've been very grateful to read updates and your and other posters experiences, you have all helped normalise this. Very excited to start my journey now to a healthier me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,317 ✭✭✭furiousox

It's been very effective for me.

I took my first jab in September and I'm approaching a weight loss of three stone now.

I reckon I've another half stone to shift then I'll start looking at reducing/coming off.

I am apprehensive about what might happen then.

I expect to put some weight back on but determined not to regain what I've lost.

Side effects not too bad, some mild constipation.

First injection can be a bit daunting but it's literally painless.

    Good luck!

out of interest what are people paying for MJ in the local pharmacy? I know it works out cheaper using my BMI but want gauge others experiences. I took MJ for 3 months and it was working albeit nothing drastic but the last month I went onto 7.5mg and the pharmacy charged 480 which is crazy money.
I had an operation in November so had to come off it for a few weeks.
going to see the dr next week to make the next move but thinking of asking can I move to ozempic, I suspect it doesn’t work as well but is much cheaper, on that what are people paying for Ozempic in the pharmacy? Thanks
