Awful match, awful team. Relying on moments constantly, week in and week out. No semblance of progress or coaching what so ever.

I'm sorry but this one is absolutely on Amorim.

We all saw that first half against Newcastle. Played some great stuff and he deserved the credit for that.

However, he's reverted back to this nonsense system which every man and his dog can see just isn't working. Yes, we are missing some frontline players, but at the end of the day he made the call to bring us backwards tonight.

I'd say he was a problem alright, he isn't clinical enough by half. That there was more problems than him? Naturally. No arguments.

Same Arsenal that needed a late late winner against the worst premier league team of all time...

Thankfully the ref blew it up and we got the point from the game. Big result for us considering the team we had out. Title charge coming

In fairness he would be a good upgrade on Sesko, at least he can score

Yeah Sesko is not looking great so far. Cunha the only real threat today, you are at nothing without threats from other areas. Mbeumo, Bruno, Mount and Amad are massive losses for a team as poor as this.

Not absolving the manager of blame but the team has a complete dearth of creativity and craft.

Not at all. I pointed out the exact same tactical ineptitude against Newcastle and pointed out that it woupd catch us out again because nothing had changed in terms of Amorims ability to coach a team. I did point out that at least he was starting to show some tactical flexibility in setting up at start of match, but he abandoned that until he decided a 18 and 17 year old and another CB sub, as well as removing the midfield screen would work

What did he do wrong? He created our best chance out of nothing and should have had a penalty. Zero service to him, just the same as Hojlund.

It’s been a long time since you could go to Old Trafford and be guaranteed something worth watching. My last game was the derby and it was 0-0. Haven’t bothered to go since.

Amorim is making it so hard to support him...I dont think he has what it takes at this stage. His win ratio is appalling

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,152 ✭✭✭For Petes Sake

And yet he found a way around it in the first half against Newcastle, before reverting to type.

I genuinely don't know what he's watching. He clearly wants the 3 at the back to work and it's complete and utter arrogance and stubbornness at this stage that he reverts back to it.

The fact he went to a 4 when he needed something tells you everything. Even he knows it's not working but he's determined to make it so.

I know, it's lazy analysis as usual from Nev the ABU who's clearly still sore about his hotel going under. He kept going on about players playing out of position tonight amd I'm still not sure who he's talking about. This is the same Neile that was making all sorts of excuses for Arsenal missing a centre back while we have 7 first 11 players out at the moment but he completely ignored that all night.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Sesko should have been played through one on one twice. Dorgu with the easiest pass you'll ever see early in the second half but shoots and Casemiro just dawdles on the ball. For the second game running he was probably our best player going forward.

I will say this about Amorim, he got his shape wrong tonight. Think he was trying to be too clever. We are not going to be winning many games of football with Casemiro and Ugarte in midfield. It's just going to be too easy for teams to shut us down with them in the middle.

Awful result and real momentum killer.

Poor performance. Learned nothing we didn't already know about these players other than J.Fletcher and Mantato aren't going to be saving the 1st team anytime soon, which is understandable they are kids.

Hope we get some of the injured and AFCON players back soon. On to the next one

I'm not sure we're actually taking a step forward. The start of the season was pretty bad, but after 8 games - including Liverpool, City, Arsenal and Chelsea - we had 13 points from 8 games. We had a run of games which were on paper, much more winnable.

We've played 11 games since then (19 total) and we've taken just 17 points from those games. We're actually on a worse run results wise against weaker teams than we were at the start of the season. This when we're just playing one game a week, no cups, no distractions, plenty of time to recover etc. So we're just bobbing along and if anything getting slightly worse.

I don't think Amorim is going to be sacked any time soon, but there has to be conversations going on between Wilcox, Berrada and Amorim about the performances and the needed fixes. A big decision is needed if the club goes out and tries to recruit wingbacks, or prioritises midfield. We wont need wingbacks if Amorim isn't here next season.

It's time to change the manager

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,680 ✭✭✭BenK

To be fair Mount was available in the 1st half against Newcastle and the 2nd half was brutal stuff there as well. Manager definitely needs to be doing better but the attacking options are absolutely shocking.

There really should be a discussion at board level about Amorims future going into the January window.

Wolves have 3 points in total this season. 2 of them against Utd.

Would have won the game but for the wolves goalkeeper

It has gotten to the stage where we now measure our CF on things like not losing the ball or managing to get the odd shot away... Judging a CF by their ability to score goals is a distant past.

And Sesko isn't the problem, I completely agree with that. The problem is that a player like Sesko should be, at the minimum, an understudy to a proper experienced CF.

Part of the leeway Amorim is getting imo, is that he probably wanted an experienced striker and the new football guys thought it best to go down the Hojlund route again.

    Another one.

Tell me what Ugarte has done so wrong tonight? It's no coincidence the midfield went to piss when he went off.

Might be an idea to get Martin O Neill in before Celtic bring him back

Amorim deserves most of the blame for that performance but I have to say I’m disappointed in Cunha tonight. Won a few free kicks and carried the ball forward at times but very little composure. Was expecting him to step up with Fernandes, Mbeumo and Amad out but he didn’t at all.

Also, is it just me who thought Dalot could’ve chased after that bouncing ball that nearly went in instead of raising his hands in celebration? It might at least have put Sa off to have Dalot breathing down his neck.

Very frustrating but not terribly surprising evening. I’m not Amorim out but I can’t say I would be devastated if he were sacked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,071 ✭✭✭crusd

A competent coach and it could have been 8 from 8 and he would have a nice buzz cut.
Villa the only one of the last 8 where not winning wasn’t a terrible result based on the match. And in all the games, even those we won, we ceded the initiative in game.

It was 12 from 24 and it should have been at least 21 and we would be third tonight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭FrankN1

We were absolutely shite against Newcastle for 45 mins. Worse tonight. Lucky Amorim has Afcon to cover him.

2nd half was brutal after he went back to the 3, don't forget.
