Are all Irish airports closed on December 25th?

I don't think that was destined for SNN, but instead was a diversion en route to CDG:

I'd expect they're all closed for normal operations, but likely have a skeleton crew to support emergencies/unplanned arrivals/diversions/etc.

Reminds me of a time I got a dirt cheap return back to UK on Stephen's Day. Got to the airport and found no public transport, so got on a BA bus heading to Heathrow from Stansted. The taxi from Heathrow to my house cost more than the flight had cost.

    Thanks.

Acoording to this more flights seem to have arrived today at SNN:

Among them, one from White Plains and one from Zurich. Don't think they were emergency landings?

Shannon has to remain open for emergencies.

Two years ago my friend was flying into DUB on Christmas eve. I went to the airport to meet her, but we got our wires crossed, when I was at the airport, she was already on the bus to the hotel. She was on the last flight, and Airport Police told me the airport was closing down and I had to leave. They were very unfriendly. They had an attitude of "surely everyone knows the airport closes for Christmas day/What are you doing loitering in the arrivals area of a closing airport".

I don't know, maybe they have experience of people trying to get into the airport when it's shut down or something, but it was a bit unsettling.

There are a few airpors which are designated as Emergency Airports, Shannon in Ireland, Prestwick in scotland and Gander in Newfoundland in Canada being three that I am aware of. Because of this status there is a requirement that the airports must be open for airplane arrivals 24/7/365. When the Sept 11 attacks occurred, a hugh number of flights were diverted into Gander.
