Correct, 2006 was the last time they had a UK number 1, but the streak of number 1s between 1999 and 2002 meant they were a chart force in that period. They had three number 1s between 2003 and 2006, so things had obviously slowed a bit.

Whether it ended in 2002 or 2006, it's been gone a long time.

As part of their plans they have asked to drop R1extra, 2XM, PULSE and RTÉjr/Chill, this won't save them a huge amount of money. GOLD is to remain.

RTÉ 2FM really should some rules about music if it is to be a yuff station.

    1. 80% of music must come from the last Decade*
    2. 20% must come from Irish Artist (but can go right back to the 70s, they can also)
    3. 20% can come from the golden era of previous decade

*of the golden oldies if an Irish artist as done a cover in the last decade that can be plan and count as part of this decade. Or can come from live music sessions.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

they can only play Fairytale of New York once daily in December

No debate should take place on 2FM about said song. But I'd happily here it once a week.

The Samantha Mumba countdown would be extremely short - one, maybe one and a half songs ☹️

    Who might say

"This survey covers just over 6 months of the new 2FM Schedule, and the station has certainly stabilised following a period of change. We are very happy with how are shows are progressing."

    2FM Breakfast - 131K down 8K

    Laura Fox on 2FM - 125K up 3K

The Tracy Clifford Show - 111K up 1K

    2FM Drive with Doireann Garrihy - 124K down 1K

    Game On - 30K down 7K

2FM Weekend Breakfast with Helen and Benny Saturday 57 K and Sunday 27K down 7K

Weekend on 2FM with Bláthnaid Tracy on Sat 139K and Sun 118K

2FM Weekend Afternoon with Emma and Graham had 109K on Sat down 4K, 84K on Sun down 6K

Don't worry Inside Sport will surely double that figure for Game on when it moves to Radio 1.

what a silly name for a sports show "Inside sport" They could have at least transferred the established "Game on" from 2FM.

I wonder will 2FM continue to broadcast live rugby and soccer games like they have done since Game On was part of the schedule?

Very much a 1980s TV sports type name.

I see 5 green lines drawn through SPORT, the O as a football and INSIDE written in blue below it.

    • Dan Healy, Head of RTÉ 2FM, said: “This survey covers just over 6 months of the new 2FM schedule, and the station has certainly stabilised following a period of change. We are very happy with how all our shows are progressing.

It's like a repeated quote from Dan over the past few years. Make sure to alter the schedule constantly so any blame regarding falling figures only relate to the changes.

    What became of Mo K?

Still not over the quiet departure of Chris and tbh. Their late night show was great listening at times.

After 12 years it was the final "Game On" this evening.

Will this be the first time 2FM have not had a dedicated sports show in around 20 years?

Remember previous weekly sports shows Ballbusters (Fiona Looney and Andrew O'Connor) and Sportsbag (Robbie Irwin)

Must listen back to that last Game On. I used to listen back to it regularly, but one day I just... stopped.

I remember Ballbusters and their Lucky Number competition. And one week, they moved to cover a weekday afternoon slot during a FIFA World Cup, and they played a whistle sound effect during a song if a goal was scored, so you'd hang around and find out from them who scored.

    What was Sportsbag?

The New Music Show with Beta de Silva is a really good listen - delighted to hear new decent music from Irish, Jazzy to Grime and beyond.

A really positive step for the station. If only they had faith in their listeners and were brave enough to start playing some of these tracks throughout the day.

Might happen yet if the extra hour gives him a boost in audience.

I’d agree with you. Was really enjoying it earlier and Beta sounded great.

The new afternoon show sounds like a bad college radio effort.

Demi is hamming is up way too much. And her straightman is just dull.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,969 ✭✭✭Trampas

Demi isn’t good at all. Does she have bottle of coke and skittles before she comes on. To loud. His voice doesn’t work for radio

Who told Aisling she can do accents. She’s hopeless at them. Her and Carl are trying to be do the same role but doesn’t work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 136 ✭✭Cmx95

I actually agree that Aisling and Carl are playing the same role and it doesn't work one of them should moved to drive time

Most of the presenters at 2fm are now parents of young families or have family away from Donnybrook. I think they want to spend Christmas morning with their families, and let them.

    This too shall pass.
