Tubridy presenting a Talksport program is like getting Bosco to front Primetime.

Perhaps the 15 hours a week on Virgin were too much for him.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

    Course he is.

He doesn't have a proper job in the media anymore. He has a half assed makey uppy gig that's really for someone very old on the way out of full time work or indeed life itself.

All this because of greed and deception which, at best, he went along with.

I hope you're right but at this stage, if the overnights on Lyric FM or R na G became available to him, he should bite the hand off RTE to take it.

    Tubs is a busted flush.

Eventually someone in the national media will put what seems to be a fear of NK Management aside and publicly call this disasterous career management for what it is.

It’s over for Ryan to be honest. A 2 year gig on virgin he should have leveraged into a solid career move but either didn’t or couldn’t and now a YouTube series and a vague mention of a gig on TalkSport. For a guy who was at the top of the tree at one point, his career trajectory has more in common with Alan Partridge than Eamon Andrews or Terry Wogan at this stage.

I very strongly think he's staying put in London. I think he is about as likely to return to RTÉ as Gay Byrne.

I would say Gay has higher odds for returning, either through AI or the old school ouija board.

Why would he stay in London. I'd say he's packed already.

    That's aiming too high.

North Norfolk Digital Radio might though.

Q102 we’re pretty quick to pull him off their schedule page - he’s still there but only for the 2 hour Sunday morning show - all references to the weekday show gone

I'd say Graham Norton is more likely to move back to Ireland.

Tubridy on Talk sport😂 He'll fit right in there. "Welcome to Drive Time Live with Jamie O'Hara, Jason Cundy and Ryan Tubridy". Maybe they are going to branch out into covering competitive spelling bees.

So much begrudgery, so little else.

We've been through this. Those who clutch their pearls over how Tubridy is perceived are the outliers or paid to support him.

It has been nothing but success since he left RTE. All coming up roses. Well, according to his agent.

His management got him paid way way more than he's worth for many years - thats good management.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭Expunge

The chap has had his pants pulled down. This is all of his (or his people's own making).

    And you're concerned about 'begrudgery'?

Go-on away outta that and give us your analysis on what has happened to the fella.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭Expunge

Yes, absolutely yes you're right. No question.

These last few years, though, it appears Tubs is being used to show that uncle Noel is not a failure. And look where that has got Tubs.

i'd hazard a guess he's doing better than a lot of the begrudgers on here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,053 ✭✭✭nachouser

He got married about ten days ago, so, yeah, I'd say he's happy enough. Unlike the borderline stalkers on here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,396 ✭✭✭Ardent

Such a bunch of begrudgers and losers in this thread. Keep banging that drum lads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭Expunge

His excruciating, continuing, Partridgesque fall from success continues but, yeah, what about the lads on here.

It’s not begrudgery as far as I’m concerned. I hadn’t realised he’d recently gotten married so congratulate him on that and wish him and his wife many happy years together.

In the context of broadcasting he was artificially boosted to the top of the tree in RTE. It was painfully evident he lacked the X factor when it came to presenting shows like the Late Late. He held his own on politics and history but that was it, bar the toy show but that became more about him than the toys or the kids in the end. Numerous attempts to get the foot in the door at the Beeb didn’t work out either.

Cast into the wider world of broadcasting he hasn’t set the world on fire at Virgin and seemingly hasn’t caught the attention of anyone either here or in the UK radio market. He’s now doing his own make work scheme which Noel Kelly managed to attach to Times Radio. The jobs are getting progressively smaller in scale and you’d have to wonder at what point now rationality kicks in and he figures out finally it’s time to call a spade a spade and try his hand at something he’s more suited to.

He’s the closest thing I’ve seen to Alan Partridge at this point and I’m not even joking.

Ah, I get it. We're back to the tired old 'begrudgers living in mammy's box room' argument again, are we? I thought you'd have had time to come up with something more creative by now.

You can’t make up the truth.

    It’s just there.

I hope they're paying you well to defend Tubs at 7:45 on a Friday night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,571 ✭✭✭Cyclingtourist

If he's going to do less of the disc jockey and more one to one interviews, documentary presentation and the like I think that's what he's best at. On Virgin radio always wanted the music over to hear what he had to say.

    Hope he does well.

I was missing this tête-à-tête. I had just being saying how quite this thread was, and here we are again.

You'd never get it with the Ray D'Arcy fans.
