Hi as per the title all my father values is massive standby battery life in the 20+ days range like the Nokias of old.

I thought the Nokia 105 4G 2nd Edition (2024) was it but it sounds like the battery life isnt great? And it has a radio button instead of Contacts?

I really dont want to change the interface as he struggles with everything these days and even a little change like that will prevent him from making calls.

Can anyone recommend a decent dumb Nokia in the UK/Ireland that I could get him thats as close as possible to his old 3210?

    Any help appreciated thanks.

I think Nokia launched a 'new' retro version of the 3310 in 2019.

Don't know about similarity of features, battery life, or current availability, sorry. I think they use 4G.

Doro might work. Got one for my dad. Big buttons, plus an emergency feature which can connect to family phones with an emergency text and sound. Battery will depend on how long he spends calling his pals in the USA like mine did!

Thanks both, on further research it looks like a combination of Nokia selling off the phone division to some garbage phone company combined with the increased power draw of 4G/LTE means the days of 20+ day standby are gone, anyone know when the Irish 2G networks are being switched off?

I'll give a plus 1 to the Doro that cbreeze suggested OP. Apologies if you're dead set on Nokia, I know my opinion fairly useless then!

The door 1830 is a 3g phone and has standby time of approx 3 weeks

The 1880 then is a 4g with stand of c10 days.

Standby aside, they're a fantastic phone for the elderly. No faffing. Buttons there and just dial and call. Other features of a phone such as texts, phonebook etc but never too complicated.

It's simple, straightforward and I've experienced several elderly relatives using them with ease. One in particular got one approx ten years ago, unfortunately developed dementia since, but still well capable of using their Doro!

Dial and press call, without being able to do too much wrong, is just a blessing.

Vodafone announced when closing their 3G service that they will continue to maintain 2G support. So there’s no timeframe for them to remove it.

I have an old Nokia C1 the charge lasts for ages, small buttons might be the only drawback. Reliable little phone though.

2G will be around a while yet, AFAIK smart meters use it for readings.

A small screen (4" to 5") smartphone (older Androids might suit if battery hasn't degraded too much) in 2G mode will probably last a few days on a full charge.
The real drain on a battery is screen on time (and 3/4/5G), even if a 2G call is for 30 minutes the screen will be off anyway when it's held to the ear.

IME 2G is still reasonably good enough for calls and might even appear slightly better than with an old Nokia because of advances in device hardware components.

You can get very simple phones that use the 4G network, even though they really only have 2G-style features.

It would be worth checking Tesco Mobile or An Post Mobile - they have deals targeting the kind of person you're talking about.

Just an update to this for anyone who cares, I went with a Nokia 105 2024 edition because he needed a phone and all the other options were crap:

    https://www.amazon.ie/Nokia-Removable-Expandable-Bluetooth-Charcoal/dp/B0DYPF44B3?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&psc=1&smid=A3IUX9VDQXPQEP

Only saw all the reviews saying it was a scam and not the 2024 edition after Id ordered it but thankfully the right one came in the post.

Out of the box the battery life on 4G was disappointing, about 4-5 days, but once I went home and got my hands on it I put it in power saving mode, turned off data/4G and bluetooth and now its done 10 days on 2G and still has about 2/3 battery remaining. He's happy with it anyway. All these options were absolutely buried in the weirdest places in the menus, it took me an hour to find them, the days of classic SymbianOS are long gone but once you do get it set up it can pass for a classic Nokia, contacts/speed dial are all the same which is all he needed.

One unusual thing about it is it has an FM radio, except it doesnt need headphones plugged in to work as the FM antenna, it just works, and works really well! Its loud with perfect reception. Wish more phones had that feature…

Pretty amazing that it has a Pentium Core 2 Duo E5500 processor on 48MB RAM
