How do I fix a uPVC bifold door that keeps sticking and won’t glide smoothly along the track?

So my uPVC bifold door has decided to turn into a full‑time gym machine… because every time I try to open it, I’m basically getting a workout. It sticks, grinds, and refuses to glide along the track like it used to. I’ve tried cleaning the rails and giving it a gentle pep talk, but nope. I’m renting this place, so I’m trying to fix it myself before dragging the landlord into it. Anyone dealt with this before? I’m hoping it’s something simple and not some “call an engineer” nightmare. Any tips would seriously save my sanity!

Maybe concentrate on unblocking the toilet first OP.

    Would WD40 help?

If the rails are clean and appear undamaged then it's likely to be a failed roller. Best have a specialist dismount it and repalce/repair it. It's not usually a DIY job!

if jts a door with no rollers, rub a little vaseline on the track

Jumping in on this older post because stiff bifolds can usually be helped with a couple of simple checks. I’d start by cleaning the bottom track and giving the rollers a light silicone spray. If it still feels like a workout, the hinges or the top guide might be slightly out of line. Has anyone tried adjusting the height screws on the carrier before?

Did the door gradually worsen over a long period of time (which might indicate wear and tear), or did it start playing up and sticking very quickly? If so, it might be caused by a small stone or object getting lodged in under the runner track.
