fair but there's only so many acts of that ilk to go round and they do bring the goods.

    Doubt it's them though.

    Some nice additions in there

    Very meh for me.

Ham sandwich, King Kong and FLC without Huey are very weak additions.

    permission from herself granted…

that's me tapped out for next year, unless there's a manics or suede then I'm not buying anything else.

Who in this announcement hasn't played before? The Coronas and FLC maybe.

Huge recycling of acts, but i guess that's part and parcel with nostalgia festivals.

James and the Wedding present were unreal the last time they played, so i reckon i'll pick up tickets in the new year.

    Haven't played what? Forest fest??

Plenty there that haven't played Forestfest before.

Loads that have played Ireland recently, but scarce resources and all that

always going to be diminishing returns on a late 80’/90’s/early 2000’s nostalgia festival. Only so many acts from those era that can draw a crowd and Forest can afford.

Not to take away from James who are a good live band and were very good the last time at Forest fest but I was expecting someone different and someone big making a first appearance at Forest fest with the build up and hints given.

given the other tour dates in Ireland that were announce for James that week it was never going to be anyone else

Kinda got my hopes up with my own Sex Pistols guess! Decent line up, but not committing this side of Christmas!

Plenty was thinking they wouldn't be returning due to that tour schedule, three nights in a row now for them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,072 ✭✭✭budgemook

are James as big as Deacon Blue tho?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,807 ✭✭✭Choochtown

    Pleased with that.

Wedding Present are still a magnificent live band even after all these years.

I presume Bruce's set will be very "Jam-heavy"??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,773 ✭✭✭SteM

Didn't realise A House Is Dead were doing festivals, will be happy to see them again. Plenty over the weekend to keep me entertained and the fleadh stage still to be announced.

Think Bruce is also putting in solo songs, and other songs he at least co-wrote, including some SLF. Saw him with From the Jam in January, and a bit surprised he's back solo given he wasn't doing the full gigs on that tour. He was a bit frail, until he put the magic bass on!

    As big as??

James have a huge following and still releasing great new music.

Id have them way above decon blue worldwide

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭colmufc

Much bigger, still releasing no.1 albums and playing full arena shows in the uk and headlining festivals in south america and all over europe and just finished a big north american tour a few weeks back.

they also tour every year, rarely taking time off and still filling arenas

Decon blue on the other hand have just done an arena tour and take a few years between tours and have been playing smaller venues for quite some time but having a moment right now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,249 ✭✭✭blowitupref

Bigger in the terms of world wide album and single sales

Pretty sure it was a tongue in cheek post given the recent Deacon Blue / The Darkness debate a page or two back.
