The man is nasty piece of work and it reflects very badly on those who support him

If one emerges in the next 3 years during Trumps reign, it will be problematic.

Gript media are primed and ready for the coming of their strongman saviour. McGuirk, Scallon, Sarah Ryan et al would go from Fox News Lite to Full Fat Fox News overnight should a legitimate right wing populist figurehead a la Trump or Farage emerge.

Their great white hope Maria Steen is gone back to the shadows so they will have to wait for the next grifter to show up.

I would tend towards him actually scripting and posting this himself in that he is so dumb he doesn`t realise he is blaming these murders on someone who didn`t like to hear him being criticized and for that reason justified.

Such a man of god and the religious in America fawn over him. Whenever he dies and people rejoice you’ll be sure to see all the conservative types rage about how evil people etc when he makes a murder all about him he go to F. I’ll crack open a bottle when the obese hur drops.

That post by Trump is just another item to bookmark for later. When Trump dies and the usual f*ckheads start crying if anyone says anything negative about Trump, clutching their pearls while lamenting that he has a wife and children and so many people loved him yadda yadda yadda...

That post is just another piece of evidence that Trump will absolutely deserve to still be called a c*nt the moment he dies.

How though under our electoral system?

The path to real power simply doesn't exist for that kind of populist under PR-STV.

There would need to be several dozen of them getting elected for them to have any shot at power/influence and that's just not happening any time soon.

Could we see a genuine far right "trump type" winning a TD seat at the next election ? sure it's possible , but enough to where they might hold the balance of power in a coalition etc.? - Not a chance in my view.

That tweet about Rob Reiner is genuinely vile. There is seemingly no limit to the depths to which this man will plunge. To think that a fair portion of Americans look up to this man and see him as a role model for themselves and their children is very very saddening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,601 ✭✭✭Economics101

Will this vile posting get headline treatment in mainstream media? Why not? The American public should be much more exposed to the direct evidence that the man is truly demented.

I feel that the whole Charlie Kirk thing has given us a little sneak preview as to how they’ll deal with the Orange Lummox expunging himself from this moral coil.

They’ll be hysterical. They’ll point fingers. But before you’ll know it they’ll shrug their shoulders and continue as usual…almost as if they didn’t really give that much of a damn about the guy…all while his widow gains a little extra limelight and who will not seem all that upset that her spouse is dead.

The Kirk thing is still about for sure, but that died down (pun intended) a lot sooner than I honestly expected. They’ll cart it out now and again…but the energy it once had seems to have gone.

I expect similar for Donnie, just drawn out a bit longer thanks to the various offical bells and whistles a dead president gets. Donnie deserves none those, but will get them out of protocol.

A lot of people on Twitter commented that it was a particularly horrific weekend with the number of tragedies that happened across the world. Someone said that one thing could have happened that would have alleviated all the bad news without mentioning any specifics at all, but I think a lot of people could guess what that is. When it happens, I guarantee there will be spontaneous street parties and celebrations.

Unfortunately, most of them don't seem to care. It says a lot about the state of society when this sub-human cretin is the person they've chosen to be their President. It's actually very sad to be honest.

We're not really a country that would lend itself to right wing populists or politics like Trump or Farage or Orban. The whole repressive Ireland of the 1950s was a right wing and conservative phenomenon - too many negative historical connotations for the current population.

    Oh, it's the template.

It did amuse me immensely how the usual screeching hateful racist men one finds all over the internet seemed incapable of understanding how the death of a man who devoted his life to racism, hatred, Nazism and child slaughter wasn't universally mourned.

But yeah, anyone who was in any way remotely critical of Trump or who bases their opinion of Trump on things he did and said will be accused of celebrating his death because that's all these guys have. They've devoted themselves to fawning over the worst people in the world and on some level they know it.

It won't stop the Trump family from squeezing the cult again and again though. Some people are just that stupid and ruined.

Even a lot of prominent right wingers on social media are unsettled by the Trump post. It's wrong on so many levels, especially as Mr Reiner and his wife had only been revealed to have been murdered a few hours before Trump posted it.

Horrible Trump post where he says they died "because of the anger they caused through... Trump Derangement Syndrome".

If someone said Charlie Kirk was killed because of the anger he caused others, what would Trump have to say about that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 17,423 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

It was a deranged and vile post.

    The man is clearly unhinged.

    Finally, sir.

I am happy to see this, honestly I am.

trump’s dementia is rapidly getting worse, his malignant narcissism is coming to the surface more and more, he no longer has any filter. I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped an n bomb (in public) soon. He won’t be in office this time next year, he will either be dead or removed from office. The contrast of videos of him ten years ago is striking. Physically and mentally he is unraveling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 17,423 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

Ive said multiple times over the last 2 years that he was unhinged.

There seems to be nobody to rein in the madness this term of office.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,676 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

Also defended or downplayed lots of terrible stuff. The reality is he is unfit to be president and pretty much anyone would be better in the role than him. He's both an international and domestic danger. Basically everything most posters warned about.

compare and contrast- look what America could have got but to actually vote in Trump twice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,675 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

The idea that he is going downhill mentally is extremely plausible. Most people this evening are of the opinion that this is his worst ever tweet (and there have been many).

I have him blocked on twitter. I can see it was one my better decisions.

That they should be locked up, probably. While telling us Europe is curtailing free speech, of course

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 313 ✭✭King Power Fox

Not enough Republicans are going to call him out. It will take wipe out in the next mid term elections to oust him. I'm hoping come 2028 there will be not be any Republican electable for 3-4 terms. If you think Trump is bad wait till you have the nice veneer of VP Vance and Project 25/Heritage Foundation (Miller) working away behind the scenes.

An even better decision would be to delete your twitter account ;)

Not sure if you're aware but you can actually read twitter links without an account if you stick cancel after X. Way of getting around their stupid account wall.
