What exactly does this mean? One thing I've noticed is that it is only Jews who get blamed for stuff that happens thousands of miles away.

And nobody has explained what "globalise the Intifada means" except worldwide violence of this kind.

Tell that to the Israelis then. Or the Americans.

100,000 deaths, mostly woman and children, in two fcuking years is why there is a large pushback in Ireland, towards Israel. That's why there's an occupied territory bill and a Eurovision protest(as well as the fact that Israel has been trying to bot farm their way to winning it, for the last two years). Of course antisemitism exists, and it is disgusting. Trying to bundle antisemitism together with anti Israel/Zionism isn't going to fly with anyone with half a brain. And , as I said, is insulting to those who have experienced antisemitism. As well as the many Jewish people who despise how Israel behaves.

The Palestinian Authority are the internationally recognised representative of the Palestinian people and they support a two state resolution. 172 countries are in favour of a two state solution with 7 opposed, which really tells its own story. Israel, U.S.A, Micronesia, Argentina, Naura, Papa New Guinea and Paraguay.

It may or not just be sheer coincidence that this attack was in Australia, but I did mention earlier the Bush Jnr. "coalition of the willing" invasion of Iraq Australia supplied troops.

If you have a better solution I would like to hear it because, while it would not perhaps end these attacks, sorting out the Palestinian question would go a long way imo.

A bit of hyperbole that the solution is about getting rid of Jews. Body count would very much indicate the opposite.

What do you think it means? Posting in a manner to paint Muslims having constantly targeted Jews while ignoring the targeting that the Jewish state has done on people is leaving out a significant chunk of facts in this story and it's being done to paint a narrative of one side being continually persecuted. And that is far from a truthful narrative.

And for the record, I'm not blaming Jews for yesterdays attack. The persons to blame are those who carried out the attack. But I'm not going to sit here and allow a framing of events that will be used to harm others.

I'm happy to guarantee that it's a man anyway.

It's pretty much always a man.

Israeli government is seen very negatively, and it's their actions that have led to that. I'm all for going after terrorists who attacked them, they should have done that.

To be neutral on Israel is akin to being neutral on nazi Germany, you can't and shouldn't be neutral on something so obviously evil as the current Israeli regime.

Today was terrible and shouldn't of happened or be condoned, but its a drop in the ocean compared to what Israel have been left do in Gaza.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,515 ✭✭✭silliussoddius

Hamas are seen negatively for their attack on Israel two years ago, which they knew what the response would be. I hope there are no Jews out there that take their anger out on Mosques.

Independent research had the number much higher than what the authorities in Gaza were publishing earlier this year

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jan/10/gaza-death-toll-40-higher-than-official-number-lancet-study-finds

Many thousands of victims of Israeli bombings have yet to be discovered. It will probably end up being higher than 100,000.

100,000 deaths which were ok to an organization that some say are part of the fabric of Palestinian society.

An opinion seems to have emerged on the thread which insists that if only Isreal were to behave differently, or magically disappear, the unrelenting campaign of violence by Islamists on Jews and other Westerners in the West would stop.

This is a position rooted in tremendous naivety.

Both of those are no more than virtue signalling. Which makes us look pompous and self righteous, but worse, it's used to justify attacks on Jews in Ireland. Only by a minority no doubt, but it's happening. Jews have left Ireland because of the hostility to Jews.

For a country that relies on its former coloniser to ensure the security of its borders, Ireland just looks like a prick shaking its fist uselessly at Jewish singers and non existent imports. We're not capable of defending ourselves, but our politicans are great at grandstanding and virtue signalling.

Maybe those two things are connected.

But when they did that, look at how the media in Ireland covered the pagers or the killing of two terrorists in a hospital. So there are a lot of people who don't actually think they shoudl be allowed do that either.

The other reason I think that's not a solution is that they'd been doing that for a decade when Oct 7th happened, so it clearly wasn't enough. "Keep on keeping on" wasn't no longer an option on Oct 8th, IMO.

And anyway, the Jews in Australia aren't responsible for Israel. By definition, since they live in Australia FFS.

That's what shows the real agenda here. The people linking the two and "explaining" that it's the fault of Israel if Jews are murdered elsewhere. As if Jews hadn't been murdered around the world for literally centuries.

Even if I accepted the premise of your narrative, it would still be a reality that there are many governments across the world doing bad things (e.g. Russia, China (Uighurs, Tibetans etc), Türkiye (oppressing the Kurds)) yet its' only Jews who pay the price for stuff happening thousands of miles away.

Why is that? And why is stuff like "gas the Jews" "Globalise the intifada" or "From the River to the Sea" acceptable in Western discourse?

You know the way you'd always know a RA head who'd always defend all that anti-British bullcrap and you'd know to avoid?

Well it seems Israelis are ten times worse, don't know anyone coming out condemning it

China is committing a genocide against the Uighurs. Is that not equally evil? North Korea is starving its own people - evil too? Or Syria, where the tortures in the prisons were horrendous.

So would it be understandable if people started attacking random Chinese or North Koreans or Syrians outside of those countries? After all, being neutral on those evil regimes blah blah blah.

I suppose what I meant was that I wish Ireland didn't make life harder for Jews who do not support Netanyahu. Anti Israel sentiment does not acknowledge that cohort, which leads to hatred and attacks on all Jews.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,261 ✭✭✭Sandor Clegane

All those things are equally evil and attacks like the Bondi one are never understandable, be it against Jew or anyone else, I'm simply saying its a drop in the ocean compared to what Israel have been left do and acts like the one today shouldn't mean we stop criticising the actions of the current regime in Israel.

I think you will find that the people spilling and peddling this dangerous narrative are people like yourself. I can understand if people have issues with the IDF or Israeli government, but it's spilt over into delegitimizing all facets of Israeli society, Jewish people and the country of Israel as an enitity in itself by our government and state broadcaster, who is failing in it's duties and obligation to remain impartial. Israel is the only actual free functioning and normal democracy in the Middle East, where Jews, Christians, Muslims, Druze and LGBT people live life in a country free from discrimination. Criticise the likes of Iran and Saudi Arabia the real apartheid states in the Middle East instead of trying to take the Jewish peoples ancestral homeland away from them.

Islamisrs and Jews. They were Australian Jews that were targeted, not Protestants, Catholics, Presbyterians etc etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,187 ✭✭✭Acosta

You keep saying Jews, but we're discussing anti Israel sentiment in Ireland. Jews in all 4 corners of the world are disgusted by what Israel has done. Not that Jews having no time for Zionism is anything new. That's been the case since the 19th century. Trying to lump all Jews and Israel together is insulting to these people.

Polls have shown, The occupied territory bill and the Eurovision boycott is something most Irish people support. Even if it doesn't make a big difference in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather live in a country that has protested and meaningfully spoken out against Israel's slaughter of the people of Gaza.

    Fair point.

But don't worry - during the ongoing 'War on Terror' the good guys have killed 1 million muslims directly and 4-5 million muslims indirectly (food/water insecurity, health service collapse etc) so we in the West are winning by a country mile. The surviving muslims in those countries have totally accepted that they were at fault and promised not to hold a grudge. They know the west acted in good faith and destroyed all the WMDs.

15 of the 19 hijackers in 9/11 were Saudis, I have been calling on the good guys in the west to wipe out all the bad muslims in Saudi Arabia but they won't listen. I am livid. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 but it was still a great murderous victory and the place is a bastion of democracy now. They are very happy to have been taught a lesson. Afghanistan was fixed too. We in the west should be proud of our work there.
