Latest farmer’s Journal says average will be €7.20/kg for steers next week. Room for bargaining 10c more with some factories. Not exactly speculation since that’s what I’m hearing from others across the country trying to book in for next week.

Farmers journal sold or bought no cattle this year. Propaganda.

Please refrain I was trying to get away from the I heard and a lad said and he is sound so it must be right that's going on in the other thread

Large co kerry mart yesterday had a big number of fat as well as stores, fat/forward Angus freely 4 euro mostly o grade at avg ko and allowing for weight loss in marts you are worst case scenario 7.70 flat and more realistic 7.80 to 8 euro , Hereford are either the same money or not far behind. 3 other marts that I saw in the last couple of days had similar prices.

Fr steers are up to 7.50 in marts and continentals are freely a long ways ahead of grid prices being quoted here, even fat fr cows seemed to be in serious demand.

All animals have to be qa and mostly under 30 to be at the better prices no point lads talking about mart or factory price if they are non qa or if you ring a factory with 1 or 2 animals to sell they will insist on grid system at a ridiculous low grid price.

I tried to start this for beef factory prices.

The last one was ruined with talking about what ifs.

Is it possible to have thread with just quoted prices.

I wanted to start a thread without subjective opinions on kill out from marts etc.

Go to other beef prices chat they love that sorta thing over there.

I'm on road everyday getting free advice from guys making massive money in marts, in factory renting land, in organics, with good ones with bad ones and that's not getting into the horsey men in my local pub.

I just want a factual what is to be actually got on the ground from processors. Please don't destroy this chat like the other one

Going back more than 3 years ago I was selling some animals in Marts some to factories because I was getting more in the mart for those particular bunches all purchased by factory employees in the marts not agents or dealers, with 3 years everything is going direct to factory because on the given week I will go into a number of marts and observe what actual factories are really paying for beef and request price x or y for my cattle which will beat the highest mart prices and get it, I am trying to educate you that any factory quotes under 7.30/7.40 you are being laughed at as they are paying above this in marts. I sell and buy a couple of hundred cattle per year I am only small fry.

    Well done keep going

    Ruin another thread

Why can you not post these opinions on the already ruined beef prices chat?

Sorry to ruin with one more off topic chat, your being wicked but you've a valid point, trying to get prices and nothing else, might have to sweeten a mod to move off price topic replies. Ive no prices currently but I'll come here when I do. I'm done.

This was a great year, good spreading ground is scarce around here, but we got it cut in may home in June, and another cut got in August.

    A record for here.

At last a proper farming subject. For a while I thought we could only talk pounds and pence

I went for the last load this evening. Was chatting a lad on the bog and he told me his neighbour is getting €8.50 flat for angus bullocks this week. Now he said this lad would be a top operator and all these would be u+ and probably a few E grades as well.

Asked how much was the big parrot ( blue , green and red , a fine fella)

    How much I said again???

The biggest enemy of a farmer is the farmers themselves. epfff started a simple thread for factual prices. Pity it's proving a bit too difficult for a few to understand or follow
