Jimmy Carr at 3arena. Dec 3rd

Outrageous , shock tactics, NOTHING sacred or exempt from his sardonic wit.

Very funny, but nearly tipped into repetitive sarcasm a few times , but he prevented it by encouraging the crowd to have some input with Carr dealing very admirably with a wide variety of topics from McGregor to Enoch Burke , Cancer to Sean Lock.

A few serious moments also, but such is his shock value you were even waiting for the shocking/crossing the line punch line, which surprisingly didnt come.

He didnt dissapoint .A great 90mins of shocking, cringe inducing , 'he didnt just say that' comedy.

Sabaton at the Co-Op Arena, Manchester

AMAZING!!! Gig of the year for me and what a way to end 2025 for gigs. From the support act, The Legendary Orchestra, to the band themselves, it was a flawless, epic night. The production was like nothing I've seen before and they really thought of everything to ensure that the fans can walk away saying what a night and totally worth the money.

Totally agree. First saw her in Switzerland in August 2022 on a Sunday afternoon, she was as fabulous then as she was tonight.

Edit to add and then she does this…legend

I was not convinced at all about CMAT despite all the evidence. But by God has she written some great songs. And then she has the audacity to perform then to an astonishing level live last night. Euro-Country, Where Are Your Kids Tonight, Stay For Something, I Don't Really Care for You, What Do You Do When A Good Man Cries ... and she's only 3 Albums in. I hope she stays healthy and just keeps going.

Stuff that I can't be bothered editing on my phone ... before I forget..

She appeared at the start up at the seats at the back of the arena singing the first song. Was very clever.

Was just thinking i did not experience the curse of the talkers at the concert last night. Everyone was dancing and singing and enjoying themselves.

No annoying drunk angry people either.

Also 47 quid for a ticket. For 3Arena. Was a bargain. No rip off there.

Euro-Country must be the most strange, beautiful, sad song about this country ever. I still can't pin it down.

Also, you got a glorious pop concert and a pantomime rolled into one before Christmas.

It could have easily just crashed and burned. I don't know how she held it together. Nearly 2 hours. And then she ran off to the toy show. 🤣

Dirty Three in Vicar Stast night

2 and a half hours of savage beauty

Warren in flying form, regaling with tales of a misspent youth/life and a plea to get a blue plaque erected outside ODonohues to mark his musical apprenticeship

    Plus some Billy Joel bashing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,597 ✭✭✭Billy Mays

I had a quick chat with Warren on Baggot St the day after the Nick Cave gig last year. I was pleasantly surprised when he told me he played in O'Donohues and busked around town when he was in his early 20s.

It was a hypnotic evening with plenty of gobbing on the stage. Great story's were told too.

Workman’s last night for a triple bill - Dux Et Rex, Picture Postcard and headliners Raining in December who were launching their new EP.
Technical problems plagued the headliners throughout which affected the flow of their set but some nice moments from all three bands.

Kling Klang very good in Anseo last night. Plenty of kraut-synth goodness. Having been fighting a cold all week, final session of snooker on the box and it been a Sunday i very nearly sacked the gig off. Glad i didn't!

everything everything tonight in the Olympia were excellent. He can really sing and the energy from the crowd was excellent.
playing the whole of ‘get to heaven’ bsides and extra tracks and all, crowd was right there with them for it all

Was a great night. Much better than 2022 in the academy when they didn’t even play regret regret.

    Basht support were great too.

Two good night in the Olympia with cast and pastel last night.

Yep, Everything Everything pretty awesome tonight alright. I was there with my 16 year old, who likes them since hearing them as a little fella on my EP playlist for whenever they hit Stradbally. They live right on the edge of being a bit naff at times but my God, when they get it right! That album is wall to wall bangers. It's what pop music should sound like, quirky, interesting, different and stupidly catchy. The crowd were totally up for it, place was bouncing. Great night.

Great album, got the double disc reissue there and it sounds excellent.
as you said, almost a joke band but they toe the line and create some top songs. Singalongable despite the elastic vocals

For a Monday night it was a fantastic gig, they're a brilliant live band. Lyrics always have you paying attention but Higgs's voice has to be admired for that vocal range and the band are so tight, Foals knew what they were doing when they brought Pritchard into their stable (pun absolutely intended)

    And back to the music……..

Last night, I was just about to hit the button to buy a ticket to see The Minutes in Whelan’s tonight when I thought I’d just have a look and see what was on in the Workman’s. For €10 cheaper I could see a Cork band called God Alone who sounded pretty good on Spotify. (You can take the cnut out of Cavan but you can’t take Cavan out of the cnut).

Doors at 8 so I turned up at 8:30 to hear just the last couple of songs from the support - Glass Pawns. A guitar/drum duo, the little bit I did hear was awesome - some really, really fantastic riffs. Gutted I missed the full set and fnck all Dublin venues for their messed up start times.

God Alone were just a whirlwind of energy, the frontman must have lost half his body weight he was so manic. Their songs changed beat so often it was sometimes difficult to keep the timing of your head nod with the music but we all tried. Audience loved them and demanded an encore which the frontman went ballistic throughout. Fantastic night of music.

Talking to the drummer afterwards, I congratulated him and his band mates of inventing a new genre of music - chaos rock.

The Minutes is sold out tomorrow but I’ll probably head in anyways to see if I can blag it, unless something else turns up. https://open.spotify.com/artist/0n21GeRyqvoD6q21UVtBHg?si=dfsf0YUjTyiAJBeFilKGAw

recently played a gig with them in the international it was intense…some lads

Ash at The Academy last night were surprisingly good.

Was expecting a bit of a nostalgia heavy set but they were in great form and blasted out a great mix of old and new.

The band still manages to produce a great wall of sound with just three of them with same energy as a new band playing Whelan’s

Agree with all that, a great gig, they lit up The Academy.

The acoustic solo of My Favourite Ghost was great too.

Was anybody here at Wolf Alice the other night? Was tempted but in the end didn't try for a ticket

Couldn’t resist. The five-piece I saw a few weeks ago was down to a three piece but after a quiet enough start they ramped it up to noise level 10 by the end. Brilliant.
Not sure who the support band was but they brought an entourage with them. After their set they all proceeded to talk loudly to each other while the headliners were playing. I wouldn’t ask them back. 🙄

Moment of appreciation for Caribou on Wednesday. Ravey as bejaysus! Love the live extended version of Sun. Facilita and Honey also great to hear live. Bit of Outlander thrown in. Drumming jams. Blinding lights. A lot of love for and from Dan the man. Top class.
