Just picked up a pixel watch 4 LTE version, googles support page says Vodafone is the only supported carrier for LTE. However when I try set it up I get an error that won't let me progress, and Vodafone is telling me they never supported pixel watches through their support line. Despite them having documentation on how to set up the PW3 on the Vodafone website. Anyone else having this issue or have you got connected successfully??

(Note: I used AI to help write this update so it’s as clear and detailed as possible for anyone facing the same issue.)

Just wanted to post an update in case anyone else runs into this, because it looks like more people may be hitting the same problem.

I finally got my Pixel Watch 4 LTE working on Vodafone Ireland, but the issue wasn’t with the watch itself — it turned out to be a Vodafone backend provisioning problem, plus some confusing and contradictory information from both Vodafone and Google.

Here’s what actually happened and what fixed it:

    1. Pixel Watch 4 LTE is supported by Vodafone Ireland (EU models).
Vodafone’s Escalations Team confirmed that the Pixel Watch 4 should work with their One Number service as long as the watch is an EU variant.
Several frontline agents incorrectly told me Vodafone “never supported” Pixel Watches, which is not accurate.
    2. Google lists Vodafone as the only supported LTE carrier in Ireland for the Pixel Watch 4.
So the watch is expected to work here officially.
    3. The activation error (“Unknown error occurred”) is caused by Vodafone’s backend not provisioning the EID correctly.
The Wear OS activation flow will fail every time unless Vodafone’s system has the watch’s EID registered properly.
    4. The only fix was escalation to Vodafone’s technical team.
Once their backend team updated whatever was missing in the provisioning, LTE activated instantly.
No changes were needed on the watch itself.
    5. Steps that resolved it for me:

Submitted the complaint using Vodafone’s online complaint form.

Escalations Team contacted me and requested the watch’s EID.

After a bit of back and forth, the technical team pushed the necessary backend changes.

LTE started working immediately after that.

If you’re having the same issue, do this:

Get your watch’s EID (Settings → About → EID).

Contact Vodafone through their Escalations Team or complaint form — frontline support doesn’t seem aware of Pixel Watch provisioning.

Tell them it’s an EU model and that One Number is supported.

Ask them to ensure the EID is properly provisioned on their backend

    Important:
No amount of troubleshooting on the watch will fix this — it’s entirely on the carrier side.

Hopefully this helps anyone else trying to get their Pixel Watch 4 LTE working on Vodafone Ireland.
If you have the same issue, feel free to reply — happy to help with what worked.
