Racist yes but unfortunately there are real nuggets of truth in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,084 ✭✭✭DarkJager21

All I see is Nazis making fun of us, nothing at all to be embarrassed about. Being Israeli on the other hand? Jesus that's an embarrassment no amount of commenting on reddit will wash off

    "Millions must detonate cars"

He said a lot when he said that, whoever the mad fool is.

    🤷🏼‍♂️

Fair play RTE, the only decision that could be made.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,686 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

If RTE think people will forget about the 725 million bailout and the poor service they provide, they can think again.

The one upshot is that surely this is the end of the dreadful commentary from Marty Whelan.

Sadely all true, Ireland's history is definitely more pro fascist than pro Jew. We also took in a bunch of Nazi's after WW2.

This is a huge mistake from rte and Ireland. Israel didn't start the war, hamas did. Yes innocent people have been killed in their thousands, that's war unfortunately and we seen that in the North of Ireland. Gets no one anywhere.

I said this elsewhere but it's kind of apt here as well.

Ireland between this controversy about renaming a park just because people want to eradicate all traces of Jewishness from this country and the Eurovision fiasco, has proven itself yet again to be the most anti semitic country in Europe. The hold the Islamic terrorist/Hamas loving and anti Israel and anti semitic far left lunatics have on this country is terrifying. May god bless the people of Israel and the Jewish people as they face levels of hatred directed at them (under the guise of social justice and care for humanity) that hasn't been seen since the days of Nazi Germany.

October 7th 2023 was the day of the biggest mass slaughter of the Jewish people since the Holocaust. The world and Ireland in particular responded to this by escalating and increasing their hatred of Jews. What a disgrace and what a disgusting shambles of a country we are.

If being the only normal and functioning democracy in the Middle East, where equal rights apply to all Jewish people, Christians, Muslims, Druze and LGBT people is an embarrassment, then your definition of the word embarrassment sure does differ greatly to mine.😉

If Israel drop their weapons then they and the Jews will be wiped out. If the Arabs ever drop there weapons then there will be peace. Very true and wise words those were indeed from Golda Meir.

I'm so annoyed 😒 Israel is going to be in next year's Eurovision, I think if Russia is banned so should they

Fair play. You've managed to make an utter tit of yourself on two threads with just one comment. Impressive.

I thought RTE only spoke for those who have a TV licence, not "all of Ireland"?

Conveniently sweeping under the carpet the decades of absolute oppression Palestine has lived under because of Israel. Nothing started on October 7th, simply the lid coming off the pressure cooker in a very violent way. Your naivety and absolute lack of knowledge is amazing but not unexpected. I supposed you think Ireland just exploded in a fight for independence out of nowhere as well, those poor brits oppressing the country for 800 years had nothing to do with it.

You are an israeli simp and if you do live in Ireland please book yourself a ticket to Tel Aviv and get the **** out of here. Limp wristed ill informed clown ****.

I'm no fan of the Eurovision, and for years have thought we should pull out.

However I reckon along with the other nations not competing that we should stage an event to give our musicians and singers a chance to still display their talents internationally.

It’s 2 years late but it’s better than never doing it. Fair play RTÉ.

I don't know how many times I've posted on here about how I can't stand how lots of fans tend to react to a national or semi-final result they don't like with RIGGED! posts. But now I have to join them, because this was most definitely rigged.

The Nordics and Baltics have been hugely disappointing on this. They were the ones who we credit for helping to kick Russia out - never forget, after the Ukrainian invasion, the EBU was perfectly fine with Russia competing in 2022 - but they've been passive on the Israel question. They've obviously decided that if an aggressor can't hurt them, they're not bothered about it.

Do RTE not know that the war/conflict is over? Last year we participated, as did Israel and the war was in full swing.

We'll probably never compete in the contest again.

    What a pity.

Always one of my favourite threads on here every year, taking the piss out of the silliness, the last two years it's had this ugly cloud over it and it's been hard to enjoy, hope France and UK boycott next, really hurt the f*ckers.

Ireland isn’t anti Jews. It’s anti actions of the Israeli government and IDF. Not all Jews are Zionis.

😂 never heard of Operation Paperclip? I’d recommend you take a peak, then let us know what you think of Americas history in comparison.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,623 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

I correctly guessed this morning that the EBU would block a vote on Israel's participation. Netanyahu must have some hold over them - would they go to these lengths to protect an Ireland, Denmark, Lithuania or Croatia etc in the same position?

    Ms

I totally disagree. It was not a war it was a genocide and it was all started by Isreal. Isreal conned Hamas into doing what they did so they could do what they did wipe out Gaza and kill hundreds of thosands of Palastinians. A war is when both sides have a chance of winning. That was never the case between Hamaa and Isreal. Yes Hamaa done something they should not have done but what Isreal done next was way worse. That went way overboard. There was no need for the amount of destruction or killings to happen that Isreal carried out so yes Isreal is guilty of Genocide and of human rights violations. Natinyawho needs to be held accountability and the rest of his government too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Any idea of the ratings BBC One gets from Ireland on the night of the Eurovision? It'll get a steep increase next May.

I suspect this is the case for two reasons, firstly there'll be some bad blood there now between some broadcasters and the EBU but more importantly RTE will bank some annual savings on it.

The latter will keep us out I think.
