I don't understand this about Bruno.

These next two games are two of the easier games this season. The Newcastle/Villa games will be harder, the City/Arsenal games next month will be harder, just objectively speaking these are two games against teams in the relegation spots and so are easier.

So if Bruno has a strain, why is there even a conversation about him playing? Just give him a damn rest, give Mainoo a game, rotate the squad now that you have a chance?

Its not like we are on a title charge and any of these games matter that much, its not a cup final that demands the strongest team

Just give him a break for a game.

This line of thinking was valid 10 years ago but the PL in 2025 is very different. There are no bankers or sure wins any more. Those days are in the past and this is seen week after week with the performances and results of the bottom sides vs the top sides.

So now we are in a world where the 'bottom' sides are precisely the games you want your best players available for so you can maximise your points per game from the most 'winnable' games.

Whatever about anything Amorim has been very careful with players around injuries and seems to be getting good returns out of players, which most if not all the fan base thought were write offs in shaw and Mount, mount certainly gets his tike manged well so far. I don't see Amorim risking Bruno unless he is actually passed by the medical team

Heaven in for DeLigt. Mount and Yoro on the bench. Maz and Cunha in.

Some weak players in the starting 11 including Max, Dalot, Zirkzee & Heaven.

Fingers crossed we play well and hurt them in front of goal.

The spine through the middle of that team is very weak.

Hopefully we get the result tonight, that's all that counts.

There is no need to rest til Christmas fixtures. They hardly play midweek anymore

Mazraoui, Heaven, Shaw… that's a fairly weak, lightweight and small, back 3. Would be concerned about us defending set pieces especially.

Here's hoping we can score a few.

I loved Heaven last season but not really given a chance this season. Hope he is ok tonight

Reminder to myself and folks to keep it positive tonight!

Is your position that no teams ever rotate their players? That they never give anybody a rest or another player a chance? That it is always full speed all the time?

Maz, Heaven & Shaw is not a back 3 I ever expected to see. I wonder will we see Shaw as the CCB because hes the most senior of the CBs. Be interesting to see how they get on anyway. I think we will have enough going forward with Cunha, Mbuemo, Amad and Zirkzee to win no matter how the back 3 perform.

Ok so, I reckon if we lose we keep it to a 1 or 2 nil

Yes because we're not in Europe or the League Cup, so our players do not need to be rested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 501 ✭✭✭GolfPar

Mainoo is one of 4 senior players who haven't started a Premier league game this season. Heaton, Malacia and Licha being the other 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,216 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

But its not about us, you were speaking in general that teams don't do that, that the thinking was from 10 years ago.

It wasn't about resting anyway, it was about a player with a knock and letting him recover.

No matter, I guess I just don't agree. If ever we are going to give Mainoo a game then tonight is clearly the time to do it. Because if not now, then there will never be the right time.

Bruno is fit to play though, he got a kick during the game but is fine, we already have our best defender out and have heaven starting his first game of the season, maz starting his second there was been plenty of disruption and changes without resting an important player whom is fit

    Happy to see Ayden start.

Very talented footballer, can be prone to lacking concentration at times.🤞😅……hopefully we don’t see much of that tonight!

Resting players is only one consideration. The other is ensuring your squad are up to speed and have game time for when the inevitable injuries do happen.

I'd really prefer if Neville just excused himself from commentating on United games or giving his opinion on the team. Carragher is more tolerable at this point.
