    I understand some appear to be getting a bit upset at news articles being posted here. I guess their preference is to remain ignorant of what's happening in Israel and Palestine but also attempting some kind of "censorship" to bend the narrative to their will. Not sure about you lot but I'm going to continue to post factual material (within the T&Cs of course) so that readers can be informed.

    Below are the latest straplines from Haaretz (delivered free by email if you sign up and provide your email address - I know many don't want to do that). The only story of note today is "the pardon".

    Seems the numbers don't currently add up for alleged War Criminal's pardon request - a pardon for crimes he maintains he did not commit and the court hearings are not yet complete. Bizarre - the only Democratic nation in the ME? Don't think so.

    A day after PM Netanyahu formally asked for a presidential pardon in his criminal corruption trials, President Isaac Herzog said he understands that the request "is deeply unsettling for many people across the country." Herzog added that he "will consider only the good of the state and Israeli society" and that "violent rhetoric does not influence me, on the contrary," inviting "the Israeli public" to tell him their opinion.

    Nearly half of Israelis oppose pardoning Netanyahu, while over one-third support it, according to two polls published on Sunday by Israeli news channels. A Channel 12 News poll found that backing for a pardon rises from 36 to 38 percent if it is conditioned on Netanyahu's departure from politics.

    Its utterly absurd to call us the most anti semitic country. The US has had synagogue massacres like the one at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pennsylvania. Nothing like that ever happens in Ireland. Likewise in the UK and France some Jewish buildings have needed police protection and parents requiring police escorts to schools. Again unheard of in Ireland.

    Israel dropped a dud US latest technology bomb in Lebanon. It shows how vile the US is that it is providing latest technology bombs to drop on Beirut.

    Al-Jazeera Arabic reported on Monday that the Israeli newspaper Maariv, citing unnamed sources, reported that the bomb in question is a GBU-39B smart glide bomb manufactured by the American company Boeing. The Israeli Air Force used it in the airstrike that targeted Haytham Ali Tabatabai, Hezbollah’s senior commander, in the party’s stronghold in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

    The bomb did not detonate and remained relatively intact at the attack site. This has raised concerns in Washington that other parties, particularly Russia and China, could access it and study its technology, the Al-Jazeera Arabic report stated.

    The bomb reportedly contained an exceptionally powerful warhead relative to its weight, along with guidance systems and technology not currently available to Moscow or Beijing, according to unnamed sources cited by the newspaper. This makes its recovery a priority for the United States, Al-Jazeera Arabic said.

The highly-expectant capacity crowd at Al Bayt Stadium had little to cheer about as Palestine held their own against Qatar, who failed to create any concrete chances throughout and were punished for their profligacy at the death. The visitors were rewarded for their attacking play in the 95th minute when a ball was headed on by Mohammed Saleh and Al Brake diverted it into his own net to leave the home fans stunned into silence.

    Israel is reported to be on the cusp of starting a major campaign against Lebanon. O guess there's plenty of soldiers and pilots twiddling their thumbs looking for something to do/kill.

    The bomb could be a very handy bargaining chip. "You've first dibs on the bomb if you put manners on the Genociders. Putin and Xi have offered "support" - balls in your court"

    The tweets were rather rattled off in court and referred to occasionally again in whole and in part. There may be minor inaccuracies not affecting sense, but this is the best reconstruction of those tweets that I can make (they were not displayed to the public:

    US and Russia terrorise the ICC.

    Nine elected officials, including six judges, have been designated for sanctions by the US alongside terrorists and drug traffickers,” ICC president Tomoko Akane told member states in the first plenary session. 

    “Their family lives have been unsettled, and their ability to conduct financial transactions disrupted, also in the territories of state parties, including in Europe.”

    She also added that Russia has issued arrest warrants in absentia for nine elected officials, including one-third of the judges and the entire ICC presidency, in response to the court's investigation into alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine.

    It's my opinion that at this time it is. Executing unarmed people while being filmed and a rising death toll while being on ' ceasefire ' doesn't change my mind.

    Losing a tiny sliver is one way to put it.

    Another would be mass murder of civilians, ethnic cleansing, accusations of genocide, the destruction of a city, an enforced famine, the blockade of aid, the destruction of hospitals.

    Are you saying all this death and destruction is ok because of what happened hundreds of years ago?

    What's the bible has to do with anything?

    Do you think they wage this war (war, not genocide) for the craic? No, they do it in order to defend, and defend their claim, on what is in their strong opinion, their ancestral land. Lots of countries have done just that in the past, that's how most of today's borders came to be. The Palestinians, if they want to stop dying in this war, they need to lay down their weapons and give up any hope of 2 state solution - that's now off the table.

    They aren't, no one really is. For some, this entitlement was won by default as no one was there to challenge it, and some others won in by waging war against those challenging it. So it's something you win, not an entitlement.

    So no, they don't have any entitlement to carve out a piece of Israel and call it Palestine, and make it an independent state.

    "something you win" my backside. The acquisition of territory by force has been explicitly illegal since the 1940's.

    What "piece of Israel" are they trying to carve out? The West Bank, Golan,and Arab East Jerusalem are not parts of the Israeli state.
