Hire two trans strippers to twerk outside the Burkes main gate. They'll never be able to leave their compound then.

the cost of imprisonment is high but from the states end it’s a sunken cost. They don’t make any saving if he’s not there and it doesn’t cost them extra if he is. All it does is take up a space that could be used for someone else.

Normally that would be hyperbole but they practically ran for the fallout shelter because they were visited by a gay An Post van so it probably would work.

I always enjoyed the gay community turning up to things being protested by the westboro Baptists and standing beside them with signs about them never missing gay events. I feel that’s a good low level push back that would really drive them nuts

Some info about his salary…currently it goes to the Courts Office to pay off fines

"The High Court has ruled that teacher Enoch Burke's salary should be paid directly to the school where he used to work until money he owes to them in damages for trespassing is paid off.

The court ruled two years ago that Mr Burke should pay damages of €15,000 to Wilson’s Hospital School for trespassing on the premises.

Mr Burke’s salary is currently being paid by the Department of Education to the Courts Office, via a receiver, to pay off the fines imposed on him by the courts for breaching an injunction to stay away from the school."

Court rules Enoch Burke salary be paid directly to school

On the surface it seems like a waste of money and prison space but when you stand back from it he is just another prisoner who has no respect for the law. If, say, in a different but similar situation, he was subjecting a woman/ex girlfriend to ongoing harassment no one could seriously say that its a waste imprisoning him. And that person would almost certainly have had a psychological assessment carried out.

Certainly that person would not be allowed such a long period of time to stand outside her property once a court ruled against him. And what he is doing is effectively harassing the student and the school staff. I think we need to move away from the idea that its a pity something else couldn't be done with him. He is where he should be and completely by choice.

    It does indeed.

    Irish Times:

Mr Burke’s audio was then muted by order of the judge. When unmuted after the judgment was read, he continued to protest that he was in prison over his transgenderism views.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,628 ✭✭✭Dr Robert

Didn't it turn out that some members of the Westboro Church were actually gay themselves.

I'd always question why people have such strong anti gay mutterings, as it could be a deflection tactic, or covering up some childhood trauma. Not saying that has happened in this case of course.

a lot over the years of American conservatives that railed against homosexuality were later caught in acts less than appropriate for someone of their ‘beliefs’ although for conservatives in particular do as we say not as we do is generally their rule.

Judge Cregan: Mr Burke is being imprisoned because he is trespassing on other people’s property. No more. No less.

Any statements by Mr Burke, or other members of his family, that he is being imprisoned because of his opposition to transgenderism are demonstrably false.

Enoch: I want to make absolutely clear that I am in prison because I would not endorse and affirm transgenderism in the school where I teach

Judge Cregan bangs head off desk repeatedly

Apparantly his salary will be taken and given to the school to pay fines he didn't pay.

I would love it if they would take his salary or take his family assets and sell them to give to a LGBTQ organisation. It would be so good.

Has it been established yet if he is deliberately misrepresenting his side of the situation or if he's is completely delusional and insane?

Is this matter currently in civil courts? Does civil court have any powers to establish this and order pschriatric assessments? Or is that only maybe in criminal courts? Will there be more to hit him and his family with under criminal contempt of court proceedings?

Judge Cregan is doing an excellent job with this shower. Not standing for any of their bull whatsoever.

He certainly is. Delighted the salary is being used to pay damages. The Burke family are pests and finally the state is showing it's teeth.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

We know the court has given a sheriff permission to take his teachers salary

We can round up a posse, and head him off at the ridge.

    I love this judge ;

‘The judge told Mr Burke the idea he was being imprisoned for his religious beliefs was "nonsense". He said the court did not imprison people for their beliefs, and Mr Burke was being jailed because he was trespassing on other people’s property: "No more, no less".

He said Mr Burke could be released from prison if he gave an undertaking not to trespass on the school’s property again. He emphasised that Mr Burke did not have to give any undertaking about calling a child "they or them" and did not have to accept transgenderism or change his religious beliefs "one iota".’

About bloody time, lay out the facts. Also makes an easy couple of paragraphs to quote when the gobshites try their ‘he’s in jail for his beliefs’ nonsense

Judgment (No. 2) of Mr. Justice Cregan delivered on the 28th day of November, 2025 in the High Court in the case of The Board of Management of Wilson’s Hospital School (Plaintiff) and Enoch Burke (Defendant)

    https://ww2.courts.ie/acc/alfresco/8680a35a-9202-43b7-af9f-a1e7f1763a32/2025_IEHC_675.pdf/pdf#view=fitH

Three pages and a truly delightful read. Whereas High Court judgements are often lengthy, dense and turgid reads, this is a model of clarity. Cregan J deals with (1) the garnishee application (Wilson's Hospital School seeking to have Burke’s salary paid directly to them in settlement of the €15k awarded for trespass), (2) The sequestration of motor vehicles and (3) Mr. Burke’s purging of his contempt.

I strongly recommend that all of those interested in this case read the above. I particularly recommend the third section, in which Cregan J. takes a wrecking ball to Burke’s nonsense transgender arguments. It is written beautifully and brilliantly and sets out both what Burke (1) has to do to purge his contempt and (2) very cleverly in terms of what he doesn't need to do takes the opportunity to demolish his arguments and pretensions and rubbish his ”nonsense” in brutal and viscerally clear language. This is the third section in full:

Mr. Burke’s purging of his contempt.

    10. I would like to make it crystal clear to Mr. Burke what he must do to purge his contempt and to be released from prison.

    11. He must give an undertaking to the court that he will not enter on, or trespass on, the school’s property again without the school’s consent. That is all. (The issue of outstanding fines will however remain.)

    12. He does not have to give any undertaking that he will follow the school principal’s direction to call a child “they” or “them”. He does not have to accept transgenderism. He does not have to stop protesting against transgenderism. He does not have to change his religious beliefs one iota.

    13. The idea that Mr. Burke is being imprisoned because of his religious beliefs is nonsense. This court does not imprison people for their religious beliefs. Mr. Burke is being imprisoned because he is trespassing on other people’s property. No more. No less.

    14. Any statements by Mr. Burke, or other members of his family, that he is being imprisoned because of his opposition to transgenderism are demonstrably false.

    15. As I said in my first judgment, Mr. Burke has the keys to his own prison. He only has to give an undertaking that he will obey court orders – like every other citizen in the country.

Paragraphs 12, 13, 14 and 15 are pure true 24ct gold. Cregan J is in steamroller mode here. If anybody here ever needs to rubbish some X bot post about poor martyr Enoch, they need to go no further than this.

There is one O/S matter, the possible case of criminal contempt by four other named members of the Burke family. This was referred by Justice Cregan to the DPP last week and wasn’t mentioned in today’s judgement. Hopefully the DPP won’t spend too long deliberating over this and will hand it back to the court with instructions to prosecute soonest. And ideally back into the lap of Justice Cregan. We could make a decent dent in the national debt if we sold ringside tickets for the bout between Cregan J and Burke M(artina). I’m licking my lips at the prospect of him filleting that vile harridan………..

A Judge has acknowledged Enoch's objection was valid and could have been tried in the courts if it couldn't be resolved with the school/principal. It just required Enoch following the correct procedure and behaving in a calm, rational manner.

He could actually have set a precedent, instead he blew up his own life.

Judge Cregan is setting out a road map which could possibly lead to a conclusion of this worrying case.

He is pointing out in simple terms an alternative course for EB.

The next step is to conclude the appeal and that together with the repayment of the outstanding trespass debt. will break the link with the school.

Then EB is facing a crossroads.

He can purge his contempt and pursue his campaign against transgenderism to his hearts content as long as he stays within the law.

Or he can continue on the path which has ruined him.

I really hope he is supported in making the right decision.

“Personally, I think he needs psychiatric help and therapy moreso than being incarcerated behind bars. Again …..”

He might need psychiatric help- but he deserves being locked up

So, mammy Burke was once upon a time….fun.

Apparently in college , herself and a number of her siblings got attached to some Pentecostal cult and that was that

“But Ms Burke, then Martina Mayock, was herself a talented camogie player, an old school friend tells the Irish Independent. From 1970 to 1975, she attended the Jesus and Mary Secondary School, a co-educational Catholic school, known locally as “Gortnor Abbey” in Crossmolina. She is remembered as a “funny, warm and quick-witted” young girl who was “brilliant” at camogie.“She was so funny, and she was so quick off the mark, she had these very intelligent ripostes for everything,” the former school friend said.“

That too is very true 😀

But even from that short article, we can now appreciate the family back story- there’s no major traditions here - the parents, or at least the mother, were from what appears to be a normal Catholic background - and something then went haywire once she reached college age.
In the early years they appear to have interacted with prayer groups and what not but eventually the family became a lot more insular.

What I still can’t get my head around is that many of the offspring, highly educated and in their 20s and beyond, are still pedalling this religious cult nonsense in public - just shows how strong indoctrination can be, even in a very modern world

Some might suggest that other than in the public service, a putative ex-employee would not continue to be paid when he has frustrated the attempts to hold an appeal against his dismissal. In that respect, it’s hard to see that he has contributed any significant sum towards discharge of the fines.

If a person accused of murder can effectively instruct lawyers while incarcerated, it’s hard to see how it impedes an employment dispute.
