    Hi folks,

Just picked up a PS5 for 13 year old son for 🎅……We have had the whole chat about agreed time spent on it etc…..

When setting up parental controls on it through family app,he is going to put in a gmail email account for his profile.

Do I as manager of the family account need to know his password in order to set up suitable parental control on it? Or is it ok to let him do the steps of setting up his profile on the device(in my presence ) without revealing his password to me,so he will be able to play it on Christmas morning.

He’s here with me now so wants to set it up (then it’s going into hiding till Dec 25th).

Need to set it up in next hour or so as he has to head away for a while then .

Really appreciate any prompt responses🙏…..I ain’t the best with the tech stuff!😅

just regarding setting it up, connect it to the WiFi and install any updates, or if it’s download version download any game he might want ahead of time… Last time I set one up with GT7 disc version it still needed to download a tonne of stuff. regarding accounts if you’ve a parental control account he can still have his own account linked to that I think but you’d set the parental controls as far as I know.

You make a profile with your email. Then add a child profile to yours. That lets you set the access for the child account. What games they can play, purchases, and I even think play time.

It might be worth setting the date of birth to 18. And controlling the access to games suitable for 13. I set up child accounts before and they couldn't access a lot of content so ended up making a second account and doing it that way.
