Just noticed that Mannequin Pussy are playing with Amyl and the Sniffers at Collins Barracks. Now that's a good day out.

"For the millionth TM don’t determine ticket prices."

I'm not saying that they do.

But they absolutely play a part in demand, and ticket resale prices.

So perhaps try not to focus on the prices, and pay heed to supply and demand.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

you blamed TM for extortionate prices

stop the extortionate prices, the monopoly of Ticketmaster being the primary one.

I've no problem with the market determining the price, but I do with TM being allowed to act the bollox.

Ticketmaster have no power over audience demand nor does any promoter.

ticket resale prices on TM are legally restricted to original monies paid by reseller. No profit for reseller just recoupment.

TM don’t control the supply of tickets. Again the band agent agrees the venue which determines the supply of tickets. TM don’t control the number of tickets on pre sale allocations.

if an artist wants to underplay their demand in a city and charge high prices to reflect the relevant intimacy of the show that’s their prerogative.

it’s fans choice whether to pay the high prices to see a stadium act play an arena.

thank god poor old helpless defenceless pure as driven snow Ticketmaster have a knight in shining armour in here to uphold and defend their honour.

Someone claiming Ticketmaster are doing something they don’t actually do , who cares? It’s not like they are responsible for a million other snide and despicable practices due to their monopoly on the market.

anyway, myself and herself decided not to spend almost €500 to sit down in a nice comfy seat with a decent view to see GnR. So we went with the very reasonably priced standing tickets. Now hopefully we can see the bloody stage.
NEver seen gun n roses live and we missed a chance to see them for €50 all in a few years back in Marley. If only we had of stayed parked in carrickmines 10 mins longer, I’d have seen the message on toutless.

I actually hate the way TM set these massively high prices.

For the record: it’s an arena show, a legacy act, tickets are limited, and the same people would complain either way. Prices aren’t ideal, but this forum used to be about gig announcements, not policing people or displaying constant animosity. There are plenty of great posters here doing the Lord’s work without turning every discussion into a battle.

Anyway let's get back to announcements. Shame we wouldn't get one these shows this tour. Looks like a quick flight over to our neighbors for this. Although with all the recent announcements maybe we'll get lucky.

Based on previous shows I've seen, you won't be disappointed. I last saw him in 2022, and he still had the voice. I've no reason to think that's deteriorated since. If you've never seen him, and are hoping to get a bunch of his most well known songs from the seventies, you will; two thirds of his setlists this year were songs of that vintage. He's also a very funny guy. That's my $0.02.

2026 Gigs and Events: An Evening with The Fast Show, Prima Facie, Stereolab (NCH), Foo Fighters, David Byrne (3Arena), Belle and Sebastian (x2), Kraftwerk, Paul Simon, David Byrne (St. Anne's Park), Keb' Mo', Metallica (x2), Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Embrace, Sigur Rós with the Ulster Orchestra, Crash Test Dummies, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Ben Folds, Jeff Tweedy, Nicko McBrain, Anna Lapwood

Go to see bands playing in Whelan’s, The Grand Social etc then. Nobody is being priced out of live music and there is only a handful of gigs which have extortionate prices

I'm no defender of ticketmaster, I don't like how they add charges and charges to everything, I don't like how they are a monopoly, I don't like how their website refuses to work correctly for any big event going on sale.

But I do not hold them responsible for the high prices set for gigs. That is the fault, ultimately, of the artist. And for some reason a lot of people here will not call out artists for the extortionate costs they are demanding. I can see where artists are coming from, the tickets seem to be selling so they should get the most they can, but it is their choice to do so.

Pointing out the actual culpable people for rip off prices is not defending TM.
Live nation/TM is a monopolistic scourge in the industry.
TM is used an easy scapegoat when bands asking for millions a night.
There is plenty of legitimate complaints about TM to be had but people complaining at them for €400 tickets to GnR is nonsense.
TM has poor customer support, its systems are poor.

My only defence of TM is that for the likes of Oasis/taylor Swift or other high demand events where demand is multiples of supply that I’m not sure what processes can be implemented that people aren’t wasting hours trying to buy tickets.

Thanks. Sounds like a plan so! My 5 year old daughter loves listening to him when she's going to sleep so have been exploring plenty of the back catalogue 🙂

Yep, and this is why the artists continue to use TM too, handy to have someone else take the abuse for "high ticket prices", as seen by some of the dumb-dumbs posting in here, and keep their distance from it, as if their fees aren't the main reason for those prices.

everything works backwards from GNR fee and venue type they want.
same as if Elvis Costello plays vicar st or Liam Gallagher playing olympia. It’s going to be a relatively expensive night.

agree . when Liam Played the Olympia solo on the comeback in 2017 the prices were not 2 bad , i didnt get a ticket and had to buy off a resale site for lot more , was well worth it in the end to me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭walkonby

I wouldn’t defend tm but i was getting a ticket for an event that wasn’t using TM. Joined the queue when it opened, was in it for SIX hours. Just had to leave the browser tab all day. And when I got to the front there will still loads of tickets, just the system couldn’t handle the volume of requests at all
