    Time for a new thread.,

Just got my entry via the ballot. Ran my last marathon in 2019, covid happened in 20, and wasn’t into virtual marathons. Only got back into running in August. So a good reason to start training.

Planning to do San Sebastián again, its 4 weeks after Dublin and a nice treat , I’ll be match ready , so no extra training required

I'm in too, but this forum probably won't be around in late 2026!

In my athletics club WhatsApp group there are 16 who got places, and 8 who were unsuccessful. Mixture of men, women and various levels of marathon experience.

Impossible to know how representative this is. Two-thirds of applicants were successful?

    I got in also.

If this forum goes by the wayside any good alternatives for support ahead of the big day?

Out of a group of 6, I know of only one who was successful.

There’s an awful lot of people that didn’t get in. I wonder are they holding back more for the good for age this year as the demand is a bit unknown under the new system. Something just doesn’t seem right.

I am in after a distance running hiatus of about 10 years (cycling)

I didn't get in, first time applicant so but hoping to get a transfer next window. If I don't currently have an entry am I right in thinking I can't do the Marathon Race Series or are they separate entries?

    Completely seperate

They'll go on sale individually in new year. Will probably sell out eventually but will be no bother getting an entry for any if you book in 1st few days. Don't think they are even announced for a few months (change year to year)

Would love to get a transfer during the window if someone is willing to transfer. Goal is sub 3 as never run it in Ireland. Thanks

there should be lots around. Look on the threads here, and also the Dublin marathon 2026 Strava club thing will have lots of bibs offered, but you have to be quick with a DM.

In my experience, anyone who wants a Dublin bib gets one

Would like to join the queue for requesting a DCM26 transfer bib please 🙏

Strava seems so risky for scams so hoping I can have safe experience here. Thanks!

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong thread.

If you've done a sub 3 in the past two years (in any race) you'd be eligible for GFA which is open now

I have finished a few half marathons now and. Looking to take the plunge for the full.

If anyone is looking to transfer their entry, please DM me.

Good for age would be doable if I had ran a marathon recently.

Would be interested in a full marathon ticket also if anyone is not using. Cheers

Adding my name to the list looking for an entry when the window opens

Also adding my name for a transfer if anyone has one going! I missed out on Dublin and Berlin this year so really hoping to get to do one at least.

Did good for age close early? I had seen 28th May but now it says 19th May!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,118 ✭✭✭Trampas

I thought it was 29th of May but definitely not the 19th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,099 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

Yeah the window was end of May when I applied, so they seem to have changed that to the 19th and closed early. No real need to have the window a month long but it is strange to change it during the window.

Maybe this means that they will send out the acceptance emails sooner than June?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,771 ✭✭✭sk8board

depends - if they've have a lot of GFA applications, they might shut it down early.

they had the GFA applications after the ballot, and not before it, like every other marathon does.

That said, I know loads of GFA people who already got their bib in the ballot.

Training plan is about to start in the next couple of weeks. Did 2 half marathons already this year so a good start to training this year.

Still haven't got a place but I'm certain I will.

Hi folks, I’ve been running for many many years but only ran my first full marathon this year with a sub 4hr in Helsinki. I’m still talking about it weeks later to anyone who’ll listen! Only ye runners will understand me! 😆

I’m here hoping to find an entry for the DCM this year. I’m raging I didn’t get selected in the ballot (hence running Helsinki). I’d really love the chance to get to run at home this year.

A genuine runner for a genuine entry. Keeping fingers and toes crossed this forum can help me out. Thanks!
