Some going by Maisie to win, she's really funny. Really enjoyable series.

Heading over to watch the studio record of Champion of Champions next week and delighted Maisie will be in it.

One of the better series of Taskmaster, brilliant!

Didn't think it was that close that it'd be a three-way tie. Crazy. If Sanjeev hadn't opened the press door during the team task and lost his team those points it would have just been between Ania & Phil.

Good series though. Really great mix of contestants and dynamics. Would have liked an Ania win but no issues with Maisie winning either.

Gonna have to disagree with Greg, Phil looks amazing in that wig 😁

    Loved this series

She might be **** in the NTlY special but otherwise they should have put Susie Dent in a full series.

Whilst I do like her, the extent of her comedy is being able to be the foil for Jimmy Carr's jokes on Cats Does Countdown. There are far more comedians I'd have on long before I'd have Susie Dent on. NYT is the perfect spot for her.

Very specifically, they don’t have comedians on the new years shows so that’s the only place she could possibly go

The season grew on me, Phil I didnt know what to make of him at the start but I dont think he cares but just there for a good time and he looked to enjoy. It defently had the feel of Taskmaster and some good tasks and episodes but def not my fav season. Sanjeev was def the worst and only the last few episodes was I getting laughs from him. Will be watching the CoC and New Years episodes.

Any international taskmasters out , I watched them all so far but UK is the best.

Yeah, regular Taskmaster is always comedians or at least comedy-adjacent people (actors in comedy shows, entertainment show hosts, regular panel show guests etc). Susie Dent can be witty enough on Cats Does Countdown, but she's on that show for legacy reasons and actually providing a function to the game rather than for her comedic presence, which Jimmy Carr and some dictionary corner guests have to really drag out of her at times.

I'm looking forward to seeing her on the NYT, and glad they've extended it to two episodes this year. But as fun as it may be seeing her interpret tasks in different ways or spot caveats she could take advantage of, she'd be completely lost in the mix over 10 episodes with actual comedians.

And then theres Victoria who I think picked up Davids phone by mistake!

That's the thing though, Victoria Coren Mitchell is no slouch on the comedic front. That's why I had to mention entertainment hosts and regular panel show guests, because the likes of VCM, Richard Osman and Mel Giedroyc have been great on Taskmaster and are well known for being as quick, witty and funny as a lot of comedians or comedy actors/writers.

Susie Dent… I just don't think you could put her in the same bracket. Most of the laughs she gets on Cats Does Countdown is being laughed at rather than with, or usually some type of cheer when she might diss Jimmy Carr but that's more just because she dissed Jimmy (but which is also clearly written in advance rather than off the cuff).

Really enjoyed attending the Taskmaster taping last week for Champion of Champions. It was absolutely brilliant and went on for nearly 4 and a half hours so there's some serious editing and great (unhinged) material to be left on the cutting room floor.

The prize task alone took over an hour to film given the madness (of one particular contestant).

And there was an 'incident' in the studio task that caused a bit of chaos (lips are sealed until after broadcast) which has never happened before. When you watch it, you'll might be able to take a guess… I'll let know after it airs but it has never happened before.

Overall, it was wonderful and would recommend trying to attend if you have the means/availability/time etc.

Sam Campbell bringing his unique (mental) style of comedy to Vicar Street in October 2026. Have seen him twice now and he really puts on an amazingly unhinged show thats worth a watch if you liked him on Taskmaster.

He's also going to be on the next season of Last One Laughing UK, sometime early 2026.

Still think that tiebrecker was very crap.

Poor enough CoC I thought.. tasks just weren't great.

    Sam was truly terrible throughout.

I enjoyed it well enough. Maisie was great in particular. Sam had some moments but it's baffling that they let him do that song at the start.

Andy Zaltzmann and John Robins weren't particularly great in their own series either, though Robins turning around with that moustache, even though I knew he'd say it was Charlie Chaplin, was a great moment.

Thought CoC was meant to be two episodes but maybe I'm thinking of the New Year's Treat.

Prize task was really good. The recorded tasks were pretty awful though. Sam and Maisie were excellent.

John Robins was disappointing. He's not really suited to the show

What was the incident? Hardly John's mustache?

Have to agree that a couple of the tasks were really sub par, but overall the episode was okay (but that's mainly due to how likeable I find Mathew, Maisie, and Sam).

Any leaks on the series 21 cast yet? I saw a supposed list on reddit a couple of months back, but nothing since.

Amy Gledhill, Armando Iannucci, Joanna Page, Joel Dommett, Kumail Nanjiani

I really enjoyed it, I love Sam, Maisie & Matthew.

Sam is out there but I find him very funny.

John Robins initially wanted to be a character from Rainbow for the studio task. The tape wouldn't work (he complained loads during the task) so he could only get one piece on (the mustache) and then picked Hitler on the spot. Had a improv spiel about why he'd be a good fit for Taskmaster. Was quite funny but a little bit dark given the subject matter. Lots of banter then going down the line about the remaining choices and how they'd interact with the fuhrer. Things like how good Dawn French would come off next to Hitler (they also didn't want to badmouth her in any way as they've been trying to get her on). Even Sam Campbell said he was Stalin before he tried a blue smurf when Avatar was dq'd.

Alex was then told by the gallery they couldn't broadcast any of the Hitler stuff in any way so they had to re-do John's choice and between them (but mainly John) he said Chaplin which they agreed would work (once there was no mention of Hitler outside of the "thank god it's not who I thought it was" remark) which is why the crowd did more of a "wahaaaaay" chant when he said Chaplin (as it was a refilm when they had decided). It was the first time they've ever had to change something in the live task as Greg said how he'd score Hitler and Chaplin would be different. Very very funny on the night but poor John was mortified and on his knees at one point.

Oh Wow okay. I can just imagine how Alex was after all of that! Gonna have to watch it back

I dare say none of it will end up on the YouTube channel 🤣

Some stuff that was cut. Sam Campbell causing chaos

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,520 ✭✭✭mr_edge_to_you

There was clip on their Facebook page of Sam going off on a tangent and it said this was an example of why it took 3 hours t lo record the live show.

Went to see him in Vicar Street after his TM stint a few years back and he was very funny.

was that the clip where he gave Greg a riddle? Very funny in fairness but went on for a long time

Champion of Champions 4 - The UNCUT Prize Task | Taskmaster

More of the prize task. Some great stuff here which couldn't make the show for timing reasons.
Greg repeatedly asking Sam to explain how it's a betrayal.
Maisie's username on reddit and Greg's spontaneous laugh at it.
Alex seeming genuinely a big miffed at the full extent of John Robins incursion into the stage show and photos of the venue.
Worth freeze-framing Zaltzman's book index, every entry is funny.
Everything Matt Baynton does or says.

According to the comments, the bit during Sams song when there's a cut and everyone looks shocked is because he said of Grace Campbell that he likes her even though her Dad is a war criminal (Alistair Campbell for those like me who wouldn't have known).

Great clip. And that's still not the full recording (was closer to an hour). Can confirm the Alistair Campbell bit had everyone in stitches, it was also the bit that made us all think "the song will never go to air" but thankfully they clipped it.

I was so impressed that Sam did it all first time.
