Can't see any way they could bring him back as things are at the present time but I thought the writers might have some kind of storyline to write him out of it.

Unless I missed it I haven't heard him mentioned at all on the show since he left.

Neither have I . Even Lexie not there that much and she doesn't talk about him .

    I liked his character, it's a shame .

It was mentioned that Jay was away looking after his ill, I think, grandfather.

A while back , yes . And then did he come back for a bit and don't think it was mentioned ..then he disappeared again .

On another note , is Cindy getting knocked out is becoming an annual pre Christmas event or what ?

No great loss there then - at least the rest of the family had their characters develop somewhat.

I haven't watched Eastenders in ages, but I'm watching a little bit this evening and I see Anthony Trueman. 😕⁉️

I thought he died maybe 15 or 20 years ago. Is this another character back from the dead somehow? What next, Paul Trueman back from the dead as well?

Edit: I see on Wikipedia that Anthony didn't die, I was sure he was dead. I know Paul is definitely dead.

Teddy didn't last long in the show. Thought he was an interesting character and there was room to grow with him. The writers mustn't have thought so.

jasmine and Oscar…ffs what an annoying pair of twa&s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,325 ✭✭✭✭Andy From Sligo

I hate them both . in fact i dont think much to this new producer, bringing back Zoe who is like a wet flannel, the stupid oscar who is not funny he is an overacting oaf, the doctor who keeps slipping into his thespian on stage actor voice - and i thought elaine was leaving because she was not getting any good storylines… well she is still there - I think there was still some mileage in Teddy if they gave him some good storylines

I like Oscar, he’s a breath of fresh air, don’t mind Jasmine either. Could do with less of Zoe moping around the place though.

Zoe needs to be gone for Christmas do ye think ? Pita 😐

I like that they brought Dr Trueman back.

Thought Oscar would have been a good addition to the show but they have made him nothing more than an annoying idiot.

as Ian rightly called him 'the village idiot' !

If things are bad with Jean right now then it would be probably for the best that Lily have Charlie stay with Ricky for a bit while dealing with her. The fact that there was no food in the house the other day is concerning, but leaving Charlie alone with Jean when she wasn't even paying attention to him is also seriously concerning. I wouldn't trust Jean around a child right now.

You are right . Was thinking just that last night .

Don't think they think of these matters in Eastenderland , until something goes wrong then it's "why didn't someone think of the children ?"

there is something up with me , I am not giving 2 shites about jean and Nigel at the moment … if anything their characters at the moment are really getting on my teats - of course i would feel different if my own family or close friend(s) had the affliction of Depression and Dementia … but with these 2 on EE I am absolutely fed up with them and watching them on the soap and wouldnt feel 1 iota of sorry'ness if both of them departed the soap next week (in one way or another) … in fact I would be glad!

As someone who dealt with dementia close up,

I can confirm that Nigel's behaviour is 100% accurate and is very realistically portrayed.

It can go from docile and lucidity to aggression and violence in the blink of an eye.

I genuinely hope you never find yourself in a position of having dementia or having to care for someone who is suffering from this horrible disease.

I agree Nigel plays the part brilliantly and accurately. I too have personal experience of this and Eastenders have nailed this. I can also relate to the issues Julie and Phil are facing. Well done eastenders - they've done a good job on this storyline.

They did it very well a few years back with Sylvie (Shirley's mother) and Tina (her sister). Again it was so well researched and acted , showing how dementia affects not only the patient but also their caregivers and immediate family.

i have not experienced dementia first hand and nor do i ever want to experience it with myself or loved ones , but would Nigel really remember as much as he does in EE and names and everything? because sometimes he has a really pin sharp memory in it remembering things really clearly , other times he is seeing people who are not there or recognising people or things , but like remembering producers names of films , and he has had this dementia for over a year now which is when he arrived back on the square. is it really this slow moving to the stage where he is now? I though when it happens it takes hold fast with people?

Yes the portrayal of the illness is accurate. You are making the mistake that dementia is loss of memory and thats it. Its not - I had a mild mannered undle who developed dementia and changed personality as well as loss of memory he became violent as a result of the confusion. My FIL can remember everything from his childhood but cant remember what he done 5 minutes ago. He doesnt even recognise his own home as his - in his head his home is the house he was born in 88 years ago. He cant remember his childrens names but he can remember his siblings names including their ages. The illness can move very fast sometimes leading to death in a short time or move very slowly and people can live years and years without getting worse. The illness is a change and degeneration of the brain not just memory loss - change in personality and loss of movement is part of it also.

It seems Jasmine is Zoe's daughter. Zoe does not yet know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,325 ✭✭✭✭Andy From Sligo

strange zoe said "no, I havent got kids and I dont want any either, i cant barely look after myself' - yet with everyone else zoe has met , like every man and his dog, has told that she had kids and one died and the other one she's looking for!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,311 ✭✭✭endofrainbow

Very well analysed..I describe it as the brain being like a mobile phone , the battery is dying with no way of recharging it.

Unless they are keeping it under wraps there doesn't seem to be much happening in the lead up to the Christmas Day special.
