US state judge Matthew Thornhill resigns after being disciplined for wearing Elvis wig in court. He has left the building.

Seems to be some division in the Trump administration over the plan or else they are starting to distance themselves from it. Senator Mike Rounds says he spoke to Rubio who said it was not a US proposal but one that was received.

As Michael Weiss posts on X about this:
“So either King, Rounds and everyone else up here are lying about what Rubio told them (which is what the State spox just tweeted out) or there is some late attempt to disown this thing. How can Ukraine, Europe go to Geneva when U.S. Senators are saying they're meant to negotiate a "Russian wish list" put in front of them by American officials?”

One alternative is that the US abide by the very rules it professs to believe in.

Apparently Israel is perfectly entitled to defend itself and launch missiles into the country where it was attacked and shouldn't stop until the leaders of that country are removed but it's the opposite in Ukraine.

How about the US simply act as a 3rd party and talk to both sides rather than give flyover and full military parade welcomes to Russia but shout and abuse Ukraine.

How about the US stop acting like they are the only country in the world and value the relationships they previously had?

Ukraine is in a very tough spot for sure. Russia is far bigger and stronger. But years of enlightment and education have led us to a point where there are supposed to be laws and consequences.

The alternative is that Russia abide by international law and pays the consequences.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

“Seems to be some division in the Trump administration over the plan or else they are starting to distance themselves from it.”

Does this go back to the election rallies? MAGA/Trump used to say controversial statements at these rallies- the ones the crowd responded favourably to, they adopted- the ones they didn’t respond to, were dropped.

Sounds like Trump is doing similar here- present something as a fait accompli and if it doesn’t roll with interested parties, withdraw it and go a different route.

Which begs the question- is there any real negotiation taking place at all? The list of demands could have been written by Putin himself -Trump isn’t even trying to get a compromise suitable to both parties - thank fck Europe is starting to have a voice here and making it heard.

In which the commander in chief doubles down on his threats to anyone who attempts to question his authority.

    1000024856.jpg

He is blurring the lines between what they said (disobey illegal orders) and what claims they said (disobey all orders), because he wants to obliterate that distinction.

He has called for their death and there are absolutely no consequences. And that's the permission for his next step.

I voiced a while ago the concern, if all we are being told that the only thing between us and full on fascism, is the reliance on a military officer's ability to make that distinction, or wanting to, then excuse me while I believe that we are all f*cked…

Soon enough America will be a country that no other wants to be associated with in any way.

The Orange One does not know the difference between legal and illegal. Obvious in so many respects.

His authoritarian rhetoric helps explain why he offers a sellout to Russia in my opinion. He likes strongmen.

As a billionaire, he is not necessarily used to people saying no to him.

He also likes to bolster ideological allies like Millei in Argentina who was facing electoral defeat in the parliamentary elections before the US bailout. And Hungary is looking for a US bailout too ahead of elections in Hungary.

Separately, interesting to compare with Trumps criticisms of the Reagan administration during the Cold War, including its willingness to stand up to the USSR. This came after Trumps 1987 visit to Moscow. The ads cost $90,000.

One issue I agree with Trump on is that Nigeria needs to protect the Christian population from attacks by Islamists. Another one at a Catholic schools has happened according to CNN. 300 schoolgirls have been kidnapped. Something very similar to this happened during the Obama president, and I remember Michelle Obama joined the "Release our girls" campaign.

I dont know if I agree Trump ordering the Pentagon to prepare military intervention plans. Of course Nigeria also has a lot of oil though historically, corruption and instability in some regions like Delta state have disrupted exploiting it, along with the Islamist Boko Haram group.

Trump rants ‘nobody knows what magnets are’

"Trump claimed at a 2024 campaign event that magnets can be neutralized by pouring water on them, which is incorrect.“Now, all I know about magnets is this: Give me a glass of water, let me drop it on the magnets, that’s the end of the magnets,” he said in Iowa.

Trump insisted that, thanks to his tough negotiating, the U.S. is now collecting tariffs instead of paying them.“China’s paying tariffs to the United States. Not the United States paying tariffs to China, which has always been the way it was. Nobody can believe these deals,” he said.Contrary to his repeated claims, tariffs are not paid by exporters. Instead, importers bear the cost, which often results in higher prices for consumers."

Trump is absolutely a 100% nutter and getting worse as each day passes, a mafia don in politics collecting his % on everything he can, dipping his beak.

With Rubio saying that he never told Senator King that the plan was Russian, that it is totally 100% a Trump Admin plan, it means that Trump is a totally insincere person operating for the benefit of Russia. I had hoped that he was working to avoid U.S. involvement on the ground fighting for Ukraine so there would be no U.S dead coming home in body bags but that's a big NO now.

His senior Admin Secretaries, like Rubio, are tarred with the same brush now, an alternative form of "America First" to the one Trump claimed is his goal.

I would advise anyone not residing in the U.S to have nothing to do with Trump as he's the worst form of traitor one could be. Ditto for countries who have talks and deals ongoing with Trump and his buddies, get up and walk away from the table. I have no problem in wishing the worst of health to Trump and to those who aid and abet his works, a plague on all their houses.

Bertie Ahern was the same couldn't stand

"that people who were "sitting on the sidelines, cribbing and moaning" about the economy should commit suicide"

in other words, STFU, “Uno duce, una voce”, and to hell with the begrudgers.

Don’t be fooled by Trump, he just wants Nigerian oil. There are plenty of Islamist killed by the likes of Boku Haram and other Islamic militias

Why doesn't America need to protect its own children from school shootings? The Bible says that one should remove the plank from one's own eye before removing the speck in his brother's.

I read that over on X, Elon added the location of the poster to each post and outed hundreds of accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers, posting right wing MAGA nonsense, as being outside of the US.

The Irish nationalist accounts also largely seem to be in the UK.

Trump accuses Ukraine of "zero gratitude" for US aid. But he makes no condemnation of Russia.

He also blocked US aid for 9 months during the Biden presidency by telling Republicans to oppose it. The Speaker refused to allow a vote, knowing aid would pass including with many Republican votes.

Trump stopped US aid months ago. Majority of aid since he came in has been European. And Ukraine buys weapons from the US.

The US proposals also demands "compensation" to the US for the vague security guarantees, despite the minerals deal giving the US 50% of profits from minerals exploration.

I’ve been entertaining myself with this since yesterday.

The amount of pro Maga/trump/right wing account is comical. All based in Africa and Asia.

And even more amusing is the amount of right wingers that were agreeing with them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,633 ✭✭✭✭charlie14

Raises the question though was this intentional by Musk to expose these foreign actors influencing MAGA or just a consequence of posting addresses now being available.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 469 ✭✭tarvis

And what exactly has Ukraine to be grateful to Trump for -

For being forced to fight with one hand behind its back with less than optimal weaponry

For having to watch Trump negotiate with its invader - also behind its back and allowing the invader to play for time on so many occasions

For watching its natural resources being divided as post war spoils between the invader and the self appointed king of the world - also behind Ukraine’s back.

With pals like Trump who needs enemies ?

There is a potential for goings-on with this "Peace Council" that will oversee the minerals profits under the Trump plan. Trump will be chairman of it.

I recall that in the Iraq War, Halliburton got contracts in Iraq from the US controlled administration there, despite Dick Cheney benefitting financially from his time at Halliburton.

I no longer believe that Trump cannot get any worse. Every time I reach that conclusion, he manages to sink even lower. I just worry that the world will never recover from the damage he has done and is continuing to do.

And I still don’t understand why the Republican Party sits back and enables him.

Because a lot of the Republican Party are scumbags themselves.
