Looks like the planning decision from An Coimisiún Pleanála which was due this week will now be delayed until late January at the earliest. Great to see 3 people are able to delay and possibly stop a development when they don't even live close to the site itself. Going by the address of one of them they are from Wexford. I wonder are the connected somehow to one of the local businesses who didn't want to put their name to an objection. The planning system in Ireland is seriously in need of an overhaul.

I agree it’s utter nonsense. There’s small towns with barely above 1000 people population with a Tesco supermarket for years. Next to impossible to do anything in Kilkenny without a baying mob of nimbys

Am curious, what towns have barely above 1k people and a Tesco?

Ballinamore co Leitrim, ballieborough and Virginia co Cavan. There’s a whole old of small towns with a Tesco. The objections in Kilkenny are ridiculous

Kilkenny should have been on par with nearby towns like Thurles and Clonmel getting Quinnsworth (both later extended to Crazy Prices) back in the 1970s.

Smaller towns like Roscrea had Quinnsworth/Crazy Prices.
The Roscrea Centre existed until rather recently. it was stuck in the 1970s until a new store was recently built.

Nope still nothing. There was machinery in there for the last 2 weeks drilling holes and what not and they are still in there at the moment whatever is going on. Planning is a joke.
