I think somebody said that Vodafone will cancel your order if you use a Lyca SIM....could be wrong. Has anyone availed of this using a Lyca SIM?

For anyone who collected in the store - how did ye get a receipt ? The shop doesn't issue them as it's online purchase

Can I purchase this and then just put my existing GoMo sim into it?

Or do I need to sign up and pay for a new plan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 7,271 ✭✭✭Barr

You don't need to pay for any plan - just needs non vodafone sim for the deal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,477 ✭✭✭Tinder Surprise

So just get a free sim/number from somewhere and use that during the payment process.

Then when I receive the handset use my existing GoMo sim/number?

Sorry bout all the questions :/

Yep , they send a code to the "free sim" during purchase

Ur able to stick what sim you like after that- like your own Gomo etc

Did you order a free SIM? Or one of the paid ones?

Has anyone managed to activate a free 48 sim for free to get a new number? It says it costs 12.99 to activate for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 997 ✭✭✭NotShero

It doesn't cost anything to activate, they give you 1GB data free also.

you can always move the Lyca sim to somebody like three first. then 'switch' that burner sim

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,477 ✭✭✭Tinder Surprise

I ordered Lyca sim (only) - zero cost) so hopefully the phone offer still available by the time I get it up and running, so to use for the once off validation during the purchasing process of the phone

I activated a Lyca e-sim. On the Vodafone website, I input my Lyca tel number and clicked Send Code. I received the code by SMS message and input the code. The website comes up with this message. I've tried several times. Any ideas?

Is it all Lyca sims that are having the issue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,207 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

No it looks like a server code issue on Vodafones side. I'm using a 48 sim. Also tried across three different browsers and nothing works. Maybe raise a support request, the more people that raise it the sooner they'll likely look at it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,477 ✭✭✭Tinder Surprise

    Any luck with this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,766 ✭✭✭Klingon Hamlet

Tried again, waiting for code to arrive...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,397 ✭✭✭tphase

worked for me at 15:25, I'm using a 48 SIM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,477 ✭✭✭Tinder Surprise

Might request a lyca e-sim rather than wait for the SIM card to arrive in the post

Wife's work phone is duel sim and can take an e-sim

Anything stopping me using that phone during the purchasing process, and then just delete the e-sim from the phone when done?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 997 ✭✭✭NotShero

You have to purchase a plan for an eSIM I'm pretty sure, other than that it should be fine.

Worked for me about half an hour ago with 48 sim that arrived today. Picked up a 7a a couple of years back (still in decent nick but running low on storage) with a similar 3 offer and jiggery pokery porting a new SIM, think that was 300 so delighted to get this at 200, thanks to all who posted here about this one 🙏

doesn't matter if you are already a vodafone customer - just grab a free sim from 48 or Lyca and port that number to get the deal

I'm tempted to grab a second one as a spare….
