I got through to customer support. Apparently a new offer will be issued for existing customers soon. I'm not sure if I believe them.

If they didn't you could just cancel under the cooling off period anyways

The live chat person said they have updated my account to the new 9.99 offer. They even sent me a "confirmation" email. However upon logging in, it says 12.99 still. How much are we betting I'm going to get charged 12.99? :D

Unless they didn't update their backend system to support the 9.99 offer yet, and it still appears as 12.99, similar to the 5Mbps speed cap still being present in some places.

How interesting. Maybe everyone should contact them so they'll realize we aren't happy and just going to mess up their systems.

Am I correct in thinking there is no down side to Clear? Assuming the coverage is decent of course. There seems to be generally good feedback here from users I think.

@NotShero did a great comparison of the Irish networks a few weeks ago and the only downside to Clear was no eSIM support, but apparently they are planning to have it soon.

If I sign up and request a new number, can I later port my own number over on the website?

The downsides to Clear is the 19GB of EU roaming and the fact you have to use a different APN while roaming, the lack of eSIM, the lack of proper customer service even though I would argue it's better than Sky Mobile, the lack of SMS support via WiFi Calling and that's about it.

In terms of ordering a new number and then porting it over, they don't let you do that, which is actually a violation of ComReg regulation. You have to cancel your order and order a new SIM and request to port over at the time of ordering.

When I messaged them about the 9.99 offer, they told me it's for the lifetime of the account, like you said yourself.

Hi folks. Bit of a luddite, so please bear with me. 😉

After years of being a Vodafone bill customer, I'm with Clear since July.

No issues so far. Getting 5G coverage and no noticeable difference from Vodafone for me.

I just put in the SIM and everything works.

However, next month I will be travelling. First to the UK and then to the USA (West Coast).

Will my Clear account work in the USA?

If so, what settings to I need to tweak? And where can these be found? Phone is a Pixel 7.

Will everything work in the UK automatically?

    TIA,

    MtM

Why is that not mentioned in the T&Cs then is my point. I wouldn't completely trust what customer service are saying and they are presumably saying it because no operator has increased plan prices for existing customers in the past as it would involve backlash and customers leaving but the possibility is still there when not mentioned in the T&Cs. Very unlikely though.

Clear will work in the USA but it's incredibly expensive. I was over there during the summer, my Clear SIM had service on AT&T but I didn't dare use it, I had a GoMoWorld eSIM as my data service. UK will be fine, just make sure your data APN is set to isp.clearmobile.ie rather than the default live.vodafone.com.

Can you have multiple SIMs on the one account? I’ve four different numbers with 48 all with their own log ins and different billing dates so would be nice to have them all under the same account.

Does Clearmobile have the same billing date for all or may I have different billing dates on different family accounts?

And one more question - if I order Clearmobile now, will November be my free month or December if I activate my SIM card 1st Dec or after?

When my current mobile number would be ported to Clearmobile?

My 2 accounts have different billing dates.

One account got 1 month, other got one and half months free.

I was told your free monthly begins the moment you order the SIM, regardless when it arrives. It's all quite messy and confusing.

Anyone have a referral code? Sorted

Can you set up hot-spot on their APN and share Internet?

    What refferal code gives?

Surely this isn't the case most of the time? From their General T&Cs —>

No it's much faster, those speeds are mentioned in all providers T&Cs. People have gotten 1Gb/s on 5G in this thread.

Ignore, we all get 5G speeds. Seems to be no different to VF

They can do this if your a Vodafone customer - Im assuming theres some integration in their backend systems.

I'm in the process of trying it.

Will post again about it if successful.

I'm with them two months, using the SIM in a router so no porting involved. Can I cancel the SIM I have and order a €9.99 one or will my address and debit card flag that I'm already a customer. Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 770 ✭✭✭pfftdetail

Why don't you order a 9.99 SIM and see if it gets cancelled? If it arrives, message support and cancel the 12.99 one.

I don't see how they'd know or stop you. There is nothing in T&Cs about returning customers so it's either you are a current customer or you are not. Once you port away, you are not a customer.

The only thing is the email address because your old online account stays open so you probably can't register your new customer stuff to that account?

Can I ask how your experience is with this setup? Good speed? No throttling?

I mean 9.99€ for 5G Home Broadband is a steal if there is good speed/no limiting.

    Thanks

It's limited to 5MB downloads for this deal, isn't it?

No it's not speed limited, it's the same plan just reduced to €9.99
