STUDENT BEHAVIOUR- In/Out Lists

    I'm looking for some clarification on a specific issue. It relates to a strategy encouraged by the NBSS a number of years ago as a means to strategically identify vulnerable students in the school and subtly let the teaching staff know who these students are. Its called the 'In-Out' List. It is a sheet of paper posted in the staff room with 2 lists of students. List 1 is called 'IN' and specifies students who need support, typically some care or an 'arm around the shoulder' style approach-- not literally of course. They may be feeling down, struggling generally etc, and the advice is to let things slide a little for the time being. Beside this is the 'OUT' list, essentially a group of students who are likely to react badly or possibly violently to any chastisement or traditional discipline.we are encouraged to essentially ignore outbursts and refer to management if anything happens.

    My question is whether this strategy, posting names on a wall in such a manner, is fit for purpose or is it actually still promoted by any branch of Oide or the Department in the year 2025. My instinct is that it belongs to an era that predates the 'Wellbeing' culture of the past decade and also predates the provisions of GDPR among other things. Bear in mind that no student nor parent is aware of this list, nor are they told of it. Unfortunately, like many teachers, asking the school leadership these questions is akin to mutiny, leading to suspicion and lack of clarity or even revision of these practices; in other words, its 'have you a problem with what we are doing' hence the need to seek answers elsewhere. I can't find any info or evidence online regarding NBSS or even if they still exist. If my kids name is posted on a wall saying he's got issues, I think I would like that info to be shared more discreetly.
