petrol or diesel? engine size?

The 1.2 petrol engine is junk and a large bill waiting to happen. The EAT8 gearbox is a proper Aisin torque converter. Nice, smooth and reliable.

Given that its a Japanese import, I'm guessing petrol in which case avoid.

The 1.6HDi are very reliable as are the aisin gearboxes eat6 or 8. What was wrong with yours? I've had a few 1.6 PSA diesels and as much tractor sounding as they are, i've never had any issues with them.

Avoid a petrol puretech or 1.5diesel OP. Just google peugeot or citroen 1.2 puretech and you'll be living on your nerves with very possible wetbelt failure. If it's 1.5Diesel, the chain connecting the 2 cams is too small and breaks (older 1.6Diesel is single cam and doesn't have the chain)

You don't mention what year of 5008 your are looking at. There has been 3 generations of 5008, they all have different drive trains and engines.

In your case, don't buy a Peugeot 5008 is what I'm saying.

There are so many reliable Jap import 7 seaters out there if you were open to MPV body style rather than SUV

Just handed over 1500 quid yesterday for a turbo rebuild and rocker cover replacement… 2018 1.2 Petrol.

Garage say they are doing 2/3 rocker cover replacements on those cars every week.

Seems to be running well now to be fair with that work done. It's done 100k. It's not worth a whole lot to sell so might as well see if we can keep it going for another 100k. Already did the wet belt last year.

The horrible automated manual gearbox was before that, you had the proper eat6 which then got upgraded to eat8. The earlier 2nd gen 5008 has 1.6d and eat6, it's called dv6 engine I think. That changed to 1.5D which wasn't as robust.

Adblue does tend to be troublesome but ahem, it can be dealt with. Dpf is a standard diesel issue across all makes.

There are no petrol SUV's with 7 seven seats within their budget. They need to look at MPV's like I suggested above as they don't have a big enough budget for SUV's. Hence how they have ended up looking at Peugeot 5008's ..
