    Before everyone goes nuts….

I haven't bought one yet, but have some things I'd like to do. Would like to fly in a certain part of city centre at a quiet time. Max flight height of the drone would be 3-4 stories high and same level tracking shots following the person and some cinematic overhead shots of one person walking. It's non commercial, just hobbyist , but that makes no difference I know. Probably would get insurance anyway, just in case. Would be careful that no one else is in the shots, so no Gdpr breaches. If anyone is walking towards the person being filmed, I'd retract the drone to side of building or somewhere out of the drop zone to avoid drone falling from the sky and hitting them. Yes, I'd register drone etc..

Just wondering CAN I do this?

In the UK, as long as your drone is registered, has liability insurance, and adheres to CAA open-flying regulations (staying below 120 meters, within visual range, and avoiding people), you can generally fly it. City centers are considered sensitive areas, so check Drone Assist or CAA maps to see if there are any restrictions. Non-commercial filming also follows the same rules: just be mindful of pedestrians and buildings.
