The schedules aren’t being reliably updated presumably because they don’t know who is going to turn up for work anymore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,145 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Yet they have updated the RTÉ Radio 1 schedule with the new schedule and have even come up with a new name for their new sports show!

I feel its a case of not knowing that such a show existed already TBH.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

they can always bring The Hotline back on 2fm to fill the missing hour - it was the fastest hour of the day ☎️

Maybe an hour of current affairs. Radio 2 is closer on the dial than Newstalk so listeners might stop there when retuning from Radio 1 after Drivetime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,145 ✭✭✭RoTelly

They should go back to being called Radio 2.

I think it will be Game On, I don't think it will change.

poor oul Shay who saved the day when Ray had his pout doesn’t even get a mention 🤣

Is 3 hours a night not a bit much for a new music show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,145 ✭✭✭RoTelly

I'd say it was a late adjustment to the schedule may not last too long. The news is that Game On is moving to RTÉ Radio 1. The news is that Inside Sport taking over from Game On on RTÉ Radio 1. The news is that a brand new show Inside Sport is taking over from Game On on RTÉ Radio 1. The news is that Inside Sport is a new show on RTÉ Radio 1.

Sarah is probably lined up to replace Mary Wilson on Morning Ireland.

Or she's leaving, I am still confused as to why they need 4 presenters for Morning Ireland. Either way surely an announcement should have come today, rather than dragging this out further.

Cormac Ó hEadhra has effectively been demoted by going back to his old job on “The Late Debate”. I would suspect he’s not too happy about it.

Serious question, is there any other media organisation worse than RTE for hyping climate change, emissions targets etc ? Sharon Tobin and George Lee have just been on another major rant on Six One. Pity George wouldn't be moved some place off TV and Radio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,556 ✭✭✭GSF

Oh dear why are you polluting this thread with climate hoax rubbish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,145 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Either way it seems to me George is only on at this time of year for the COP event and nothing more. George even a chief correspondent on Climate Change is very more AWOL from Radio and TV. I wonder if he is well paid for this … oh yes he is.

Fairly huge demotion. His stint in prime time radio didn't last very long and his time with Sarah Mc was marked by awkwardness and obvious unfriendliness between the pair.

Not sure why their drive time programme needs two presenters. More wasteful money at RTE.

I couldn't help myself when I saw George's doomsday eyes.

they could have at least put on a golden hour type show on from 6pm to 7pm, for the former listeners of 80s/90s 2FM who would be on the commute home or making the dinner?

RTÉ's in-house TV documentary unit is to cease production in 2026.

Recent documentaries made by the in-house team include Trackers: The People v The Banks, part two of which will broadcast on RTÉ One next week, programmes about Gerry Hutch, AKA The Monk, a film about foundlings called The Phone Box Babies and a profile of Irish businessman Michael Smurfit.

This was rushed, they didn't think. You think the new Head of RTÉ Radio 1 knew that Game On existed? I'd argue she was informed the day the new schedule was announced.

Also I think at this point any golden oldies hits programme should only be airing hits from 2005 to 2020.

I genuinely think they should added an hour to drive and just had like a throwback hour

I said it from almost day one that the ‘format’ if you could call it that wouldn’t work.

The forced banter, buffoonery, dumbing down of a what was once a serious programme was never a runner.

Of course I was pilloried and attacked here for pointing out the obvious but I think in can say “Brenner, you were vindicated there, lad”

The staff will re directed to other areas of RTE.

So that means even bigger teams of people working on programmes that don't need it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,145 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Over the last 2 and a half years, rather then finding new things for people to work on in RTÉ, RTÉ decided to allow them wait for their voluntary redundancies.

Also this obsession with podcasting and RTÉ is strange.

Can they at the very least show some stats for Sean O'Rourke's podcast and Behind the Story podcast. Same goes for their numerous sports podcasts.

2 out of the 4 headlines on RTE radio news this morning related to America including minor disruption to their airports.

Does RTE not bother to news gather on Fridays and just rely on news from AP to fill their news programmes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,556 ✭✭✭GSF

lol minor disputes over airports 😂 cancelling 10% of flights and worries that air traffic controllers are exhausted. I suppose DeValera called wW2 the emergency

True mr n, however it’s the only praise I’ll ever get round here, so forgive my indulgence.

Don't forget De Valera sent his condolences to the German ambassador in Dublin upon learning the demise of Mr Hitler.

it was more the downplaying of the situation I was getting at. Anyway it’s not like anyone from Ireland is ever going to be in an American airport
