You posted the photo of Trump yesterday with the caption "some rep from a drugs company collapsed in the oval office today, and i'm not sure trump has any idea, or cares what's happening behind him"

That was clearly lies as the videos I posted showed, Trump was well aware of what happened.

He left it to a professional Dr Oz to deal with that matter. What would you have him do push Dr Oz out of the way and hug the man ??

You were clearly spreading misinformation, fake news.

How do we know the video you pasted isn't misinformation.

    Looks pretty real to me:

    image.png

    From GQ:

Once upon a time, Trump explained matter-of-factly, he was hosting a charity ball at Mar-a-Lago at which several members of the Marine Corps were in attendance, along with a host of rich people "eager to get their picture in the ," as he put it. Lo and behold, at some point during the evening, an 80-year-old man—"very wealthy," Trump adds, but also, "a lot of people didn't like him"—fell off the stage and hit his head. Trump thought the man had died. "And you know what I did?"

How do you, a functional adult with the capacity for empathy and/or human emotion writ large, react when you see someone undergoing a bona fide medical emergency? Do you instinctively go to that person? Do you render aid, even if your lack of expertise limits that task to asking if they are alright, and if they need help? Even if you know you have a strong aversion to blood, perhaps you adapt to this idiosyncrasy by calling 911, or by asking if anyone in the immediate vicinity is a physician, or other medical professional, or just a non-hemophobe who might be able to provide more efficacious assistance. These are all rational, humane responses to the situation in which Donald Trump found himself, and yet, in news that will shock you, he did not choose any of them.

Ha-ha! An elderly person was maybe dying in front of me, and his wife was terrified and screaming, and I immediately wondered about the integrity of my flooring material! Isn't this HILARIOUS? I'm hilarious.

The Marines in attendance, the president explains, swooped in quickly, forming a human stretcher to rush the victim out the room and get him badly-needed medical attention. Meanwhile, Trump adds with a delighted chuckle, he was signaling frantically for a cleaning crew.

He's an evil parasite and always has been. You can wail all you want about fake news but this has been proven time and time again.

Someone doesn't know what the words "edited photo" means

    Try to do better please

No, the photo was out of context.

That’s what the Left does though, cherry pick one photo to create a false narrative, and you guys fell for it, again.

And, as always, must defend the Trump, Trump Defense Syndrome at its finest.

Nice distraction from people starving in the US directly due to CFTrump's policies. Go hungry for the leader.

And, if the photo's not enough, he can always kill a few Venezuelan fishermen for the clicks.

I saw the video and not just cherry picked photos. To me he seemed like a confused old man whose brain short circuited because he was suddenly in a situation that he didn't expect.

trump is a malignant narcissist, he has given the world a steady stream of evidence on a near daily basis. You would have to actively be in denial to think otherwise, no cherry picking required, Trump is a very sick dysfunctional person.

Calling out lies and misinformation is not defending Trump.

Trumps Presidency is a circus, he presents so many opportunities for criticism and ridicule but thats not enough, people have to blatantly present a false narrative.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,150 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

You didn't call out misinformation though. You implied that the photo was edited or fake in some way, so really you were the party engaging in misinformation. Trump initially stared awkwardly at the man and then turned away and stared into oblivion. He voiced no concern and simply stared. If Biden had done something similar, you would have been pointing at it for months so pretty clearly you have wild double standards. Obama would have been pilloried. Hardly came across as a leader… Just a doddery old tyrant.

It's highly disingenuous for you to pretend that any narrative that conflicts with MAGA is somehow "lies and misinformation". The only lies I see here come from you.

I gave an example of Trump being cruel in a similar scenario and provided a source. You've conveniently ignore that.

You were clearly spreading misinformation, fake news.

Get out of here with that weak nonsense.

Trump didn't have to get involved directly, but he could have done a lot more than stand looking like someone in front of a teleprompter that had gone on the blink.

Him choosing to stand like that suggests someone actively looking to not get involved, there's a whole ream of things he could have done which would have portrayed someone with compassion, with alertness, with the ability to act when needed. He did none of those.

I wouldn't necessarily read too much into these elections, though I welcome the result. These are all blue states, though Virginia was fairly close in 2024. I think though Trump will be disappointed at losing ground with Hispanics. In Texas in 2024, Hispanics in the border largely supported him, not the Democrat.

The Democrats need to replicate this success in the swing states. Also the ideological message is mixed. Do the Democrats follow the Mamdani Socialist route, or the Abigail Spanberger/Mikey Sherill moderate route?

It was reported by numerous sources that RFK Jr left to get medical assistance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,150 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

As Trump stared into oblivion while seeming largely unconcerned? Also you were talking about misinformation, any concerns about Trump and RFK pushing medical misinformation on Tylenol and vaccines? You must surely be concerned by both of them endangering lives?

There's a 3rd choice: Anyone but Trump. Inanimate carbon rods vs. GQP toadies will win a couple of states I think. I can see Trump exhorting voters to vote for his candidates 'otherwise they'll get the majority and impeach your favorite President!'

People are noticing they're hungry, or their neighbours are hungry, though. And, even if the gummint decides to unjam SNAP right now, it's minimum of weeks before it's up and running. Possibly longer.

    https://slate.com/business/2025/11/snap-benefits-donald-trump-government-shutdown.html

'The Agriculture Department confirmed Thursday even its middling payouts may take weeks to reach enrollees’ EBT cards."

This is payouts using emergency money. The process is gummed up but good.

I'd read one big thing into it, New York ended up with a record turnout and that's definitely in large part cause of Trump. I can't see the rest of the US being immune to it with job losses etc going on.

It's difficult to imagine anything sadder at the moment than someone continually rushing to defend someone like Donald Trump.

    Pathetic on so many levels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,123 ✭✭✭RickBlaine

An American movie critic I watch on YouTube was asked if the cost of living is affected cinema attendance and he casually mentioned that his health insurance is increasing by $300 per month this month. If that is indicative of what people are seeing across America, the GOP will get an absolute hammering during the mid terms.

    Good, they absolutely deserve it.

So ,what could have been going through the Pesident's mind at that moment?

Did he have an earpiece, possibly telling him stuff?

Was he even under the impression that this might make a good photo op and that he was "calm under pressure"?(he does have form)

Could he have shať himself or just needed to feel a little more comfortable physically?

Do we have the video that followed on from that photo?

It could be an incredible photo for an election campaign and any amount of scenarios could be visually portrayed to keep the reference to thst moment alive in people's mind.

It looks like a low energy Humphrey Bogart (or even Jack Nicholson) moment.

I could imagine someone being a Trumpist, maybe someone who wants to isolate the USA from the world, bring back segregation, send all immigrants away, etc. But even a person like that would be blind not to see that Trump is doing is terrible job. He caved in to China, he is Putin's apologist, his connection to Epstein is disturbing, and the economy is not doing great. His only "redeeming" quality in the eyes of MAGAts is that Trump really annoys "liberals", but he is not making the life great for MAGA either.

I would be inclined not to make too much of it either way. Guy collapsed, end of story. But then you come along with your "De left do dis hurr durr" and I'm suddenly much less sympathetic to your argument.

doctor oz on the telly after telling people what to do in that situation, which will come in handy for the Americans whilst queuing for food or for hours in airports.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,038 ✭✭✭Comhrá

More importantly, did anyone get an update on the poor guy who collapsed?

  • Subscribers, Paid Member Posts: 45,411 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

No, the photo was not edited as you previously claimed, and no amount of goal post moving from you is going to change what you originally said.

Just more lies and misinformation from you, which you most likely fell for from your maga handlers, yet again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 17,601 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

Whats pathetic is that as soon as I reappeared on the thread after a long absence it immediately initiated a pile on from the usual suspects.

    Some things never change.

Enjoy the next 3 years of Trumps Presidency, each and every day of it.

…and I'm suddenly much less sympathetic to your argument

    There is no argument.

Parroting the allegation that anyone to the left of the republicans is "Left" shows how ridiculous and uninformed those people are (and yet they continue to parrot it).
Moreso when they claim that they are countering lies & misinformation yet at the same time defend an administration which actively looks to harm the wealth and welfare of its electorate and then covers over their damage with lies and misinformation.
The US is in a bad way and this is principally due to the harmful actions by the current administration. The only ones who don't acknowledge that are supporters of a vile specimen of a person whose only reason to exist seems to be to make more money for himself. Were his followers able or willing to take a step back to look, they'd could not help but see that.

You reappear every few weeks to defend an administration that spreads hate, fear and lies. You willingly defend a felon, a rapist, a fraud. You pretend that you are impartial but you're posts are transparent to everyone.

Where did I defend an Administration in my posts ?

The first one was about Nancy Pelosi's decision to retire which is long overdue.

The second post I made was in relation to someone posting a photo and claiming "I'm not sure trump has any idea, or cares what's happening behind him" which was clearly false.

Countering that claim is not defending an Administration.
