Was just looking through some stats earlier from the premier league and spurs are having a wild outlier of a season so far, massively over performing both in attack and defense.

Scored 17 goals from an xg of 10, conceeded 8 goals from a xga of 14.5 so have a goal diff of plus 7 but an xgd of -4 so 11 goals better off. Ours for example is 1 and xg 2 so 1 worse off. City arsenal are over performing by about 4 but would be expected ish for the best teams playing well. Mad one wolves underperforming by 12.

Spurs do have a good shot stopper in vicario but unless frank sorts some stuff out that bubble should well and truly burst soon or at least regress massively

Now I wouldn't go as far to say I'd expect the win but looking at that id be a lot more hopeful, the only game I saw was against Chelsea and they were poor but I thought that might be an outlier going off results but seemingly they've been quite lucky this season to be where they are.

in other news…dalot and amorim are related. no wonder he never gets dropped 🤣.

Ruben Amorim and Diogo Dalot are related to each other — #mufc sources have confirmed a distant family connection between the Portuguese pair [@samuelluckhurst]

Distant family connection and Samuel Luckhurst are reasons to be believe there is nothing to this story

Kone off the bench for the U21's tonight. Good to see him back.

The main point is about the logic of signing a player to never play in his preferred position. Fair enough we had Diallo already at the club. But is there no way we could sign a player who is very experienced in that position, who has some defensive instincts and ultimately who we know will be happy playing a deeper role?

Come AFCON Dalot is going to be seen as rwb with Mount as right side 10 id imagine. If they get it's in respective countries they could be gone a month? I think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,007 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Per the above, Martinez will be added to the team slowly at lcb before AFCON.

Him and Heaven cover that positiin while Shaw could be used ay lwb the way Cas has been used has been utilised in the middle

Control his mimutes and sub when needed.

The 1 week a game has really helped Cas and Shaw week in and out.

Both doing well for building blocks going forward for a cl spol. They'll be gone soon enough but vital for both to stay fit so far for the rest of the season

if the talk around semeno in the summer is true, then seemingly he has already said he'd be happy to play the role. According to the speculation, we were still talking to him and he was still wanting to come, after Mbeumo and Cunha - so he would surely have been told WB was going to be his primary position, and a rotation option further forward?

But, that is just speculation and could be utterly wrong. Maybe he thought he would be playing ahead of the other two, or Mbeumo at RWB, or none of it is true at all.

If I had my pick of players for LWB it would be Semenyo, no question. But it does seem fanciful that he would come here, now, when if he does move in summer 26 he will probably have Liverpool knocking on his door, to play as an actual winger (which wasn't the case last summer).

In the likely event we don't get Semenyo i don't know who we could or should go for - Mendes linked last week but I doubt that more than Semenyo. Nathaniel Brown, at Frankfurt, seems to be the lastest LB getting a big rep - with his offensive ability also being hyped so I reckon we will see links to him in the near future. Robinson at fulham would fit the 'prem proven' mantra but he'll be 29 at the start of next season so age profile wise he would be all wrong - unless we think Dorgu can be it and could do with being rotated in and out with an older (but performing) player.

Anyone know anywhere in Dublin with a decent selection of Utd bits, not jerseys, clothes. Young lads wants to buy a few things for his bedroom and would like to go to a shop rather than online.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,300 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

no idea. all the sports shops will have the jerseys. in terms of posters, bobble heads, cups, jigsaws and the like i wouldnt even know where to start. maybe try book, music and game shops. they tend to sell a mad range of all sorts these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,881 ✭✭✭Pauliedragon

Could you buy stuff online from the official club shop and get them delivered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 971 ✭✭✭Tomw86

Could try the stalls in and around Henry street - might be more Christmas stuff now but I've gotten stuff from there before.

Again SportsDirect can be good, Carrickmines has a great selection,

Have got a scarf and mug in Sports direct relatively recently, also they had model Old Traffords, or maybe it was a lego type thing.

episode 1 of a weekly series apparently. might be refreshing, the germans have the brains trust out speaking regularly.

it makes sense…if you buy the players and are front & centre when they sign, take the flak if they fail.

    It's produced in-house isn't it?
It will be very safe most episodes I would guess

There are a couple of interesting graphs posted in the general thread people should check out. They are showing data for open play XG for and against. Basically over the 10 games we are in positive territory for chances (more than 1 per game) created and negative territory (less than 1 per game) for chances conceded.
