Two different prices for a new bike??

how is the scheme handled by your office, do they pay directly or through a 3rd party?

if it's direct then there's no reason for a higher price, if its through a 3rd party they are adding on the charge the 3rd party takes..

It's always the same in Ireland. If ever there's any incentive, subsidy or grant some scummy retailers always put the hammer down to take advantage of it.

To quote Yeats from 100 years ago:

From what I remember it was because vat needed to be paid here by the dropped retailer/middle man rather than in the country of origin.

Regardless, OP i think you need to research the BTW scheme a bit more rather than thinking you can just hand the receipt to your accountant, it doesn't work that way.

I wouldn't have thought this would be allowed, unless the bike was specifically required for the work the business did. Commuting/transport to work would not be allowed. Reclaiming VAT in particular for this would be completely illegal. They were the rules when I worked for myself, at least. My accountant said no to a lot of things, and a Revenue audit at one time picked up on the most finickity things.

As long as "work-related transport" doesn't mean getting to and from work. I don't think it even means going between multiple office locations.
