Best SIM only plan at the moment?

Currently with Three, great plan, everything I need at 25 euro a month.

There are lower cost SIM only plans with other networks, but Clear Mobile doesn't have coverage for overseas calls (UK), which is a deal breaker.

Anything as comprehensive as the Three deal (unlimited everything plus UK/Europe calls) out there?

No. The 48/gomo/clear are great but don't include any international minutes. I think tesco might.

For me the cheapest by far is 48.

Sign up to 48 using my link and we’ll get bonus credit plus a €10 voucher for TK Maxx, Aldi or Uber when you join. That’s a real big yep.

But it's not the cheapest. Clear is same and gomo is only 2 quid more a month. Plus both get volte and wifi calling unlike 48.

Lyca has sub tenner deals if price is the main focus

But no international calls with any of those budget offers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 991 ✭✭✭whosedaddy?

lycamobile has some cheaper plans including int minutes. 20€ after offer for 100min

Tesco mobile has 20€ plan including 100min.

virgin mobile is 15€ for plan and 5€ addon. But uk is separate addon to Europe. Still 25€ with both but way more minutes.

If you port your number to Lyca Mobile, there’s currently an €8 offer that includes unlimited data, calls, and texts, plus 100 international minutes. Lyca Mobile now uses the Eir network instead of Three.

eir "complete" plan is 14.99 a month if you're a broadband customer. Includes 200 "international" mins (not sure what this means).

Get a cheap sim and buy credit on Viber for international calls, calls are very cheap using that

Still on the original Gomo: €9.99 unlimited calls, text & data. Also includes 10GB of EU data when travelling - unbeatable

    I'm still on the €7.99 a month 48 deal, crazy cheap.👍

Unlimited everything? How's the data speed?

Can you buy an international minute add on for that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 169 ✭✭Stiro05

What about sky mobile? €15 per month unlimited everything including unlimited EU roaming data and calls. Ive been with them since the start and cannot fault them. They use Vodafone network and do have voip and wifi calling depending on handset used

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,025 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

Then go with clear, same service but it's 13 a month and you're not tied into a contract.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,373 ✭✭✭ooter

Not sure about any addons but you can't get the €7.99 deal any more, it's €12.99 now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 169 ✭✭Stiro05

But you don't get unlimited data whilst roaming with clear. Might not be a massive issue to most people but would for regular travellers . You also get rewards with sky like cinema tickets, free now tv passes and day passes to attractions etc

Are people still holding on to the the three legacy plans?

I moved out of home and miss having no calls and then only use excess credit for tenner Google storage (and random apps)

I did look into VoIP apps to get phone calls with credit and never worked

Just don't want to regret giving up a plan I can never get back

That plan was a good offering, we signed up for that and still have it

    The internet isn’t for everyone

afaik only VM and anpost mobile offer international call addons.

I’m in similar situation looking for int minutes and decent roaming allowance.
if VM had 5€ for uk/Europe with say 100min I would have switched from eir already.
Eir is abysmal for data speed at my place / Vodafone not much better but three is great.

True but there have been reports on other thread that data speeds are poor. It's the 12 month contract and having to deal with sky that's the negative.

Clear mobile is working out at the cheapest at the moment alongside 48 mobile. I alternative between the two every couple of years.

Clear mobile have an offer if you sign up with them at the minute. €12.99 per month.

    Sign Up - Clear Mobile

May check forum rules, think there is a thing against referral links especially if not declared

Anyone have experience with hotspotting using any of the cheap network deals - clear/48/GoMo?

Is there a standout between them?

Never any issues with gomo and frequently use it for work laptop including teams calls

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,585 ✭✭✭beachhead

    Hotspotting works on 48.

Lyca is worth trying, if it suits you after a few months, the "long Tern Plan" 10gb monthly is €75 paid yearly ( €6.25 a month) or Unlimited for €110- yearly.

I only recently gave up my 9.99 plan with GoMo and moved to the 12.99 5G plan with them, they had a offer going for people on the 9.99 plan to move to the 14.99 for 12.99 instead back in Sept.

I was hoping it might improve the roaming side of things, it didn't, roaming with GoMo and progressively been getting worse over the last 18 months, in that time, I have been to UK a number of times, (Manchester, Liverpool and London), Spain mainland, Majorca, and N Ireland, and roaming is so hit and miss.

My wife and daughter are on the 7.99 plan with 48 and I would go as far as say they have better roaming services that I do. I am even starting to question the local coverage now, we were in Doolin for the Oct weekend lately and my coverage was patchy as hell where as they had no problems at all.

I moved from Vodafone to Tesco mobile just for home broadband on their unlimited 5g data for €15 if you have a clubcard and set up automatic monthly renewal.Speeds went from just under 100mbp to just under 300mbp regards voice calls in sure they're fine as they use 3 network I think.

Legacy plan, you can't get it as a new signup.
