I'd look to sell someone else. Someone that isn't first choice at the moment.

I'm not arguing amad can't be improved upon. I just dint understand how you can look at how we attack without him, and think yeah let's get rid completely so when we rotate we're right back the rubbish we see now.

amad aint good enough for WB so sell him. is he good enough to start at RW? in both cases, no imo.

as i said, if money aint an issue you keep him. money is an issue though. we gotta maximise the starting 11.

Improve the squad by turning first choices into squad players.

As opposed to your plan of only having 11 players and sticking with the already not good enough squad players to rotate in.

And, imo, amad is the best wb we have. So getting rid of the best player in a 4 man rotation and not looking at the other 3 first World be bizarre.

I'd be aiming for a lwb buy before rwb.

Bloody hell, all is not well in the Spurs camp.

You could argue that it wasn't as it seemed based on the players, but the death stare Frank gave them afterwards was something else.

TBF I'd say they are just angry about the result /fans etc rather than at Frank

Frank & VdV looked BFFs last week!

I get the sentiment. But is RWB (Amad) not fairly far down the list of positions that need addressing in the starting XI? Positions that are more immediately problematic.

    LWB

    CBx2 (at least)

CDM (possibly x2 assuming Bruno leaves soon)

    ST

for a basis, we can agree the starting 11 aint good enough? i presume we all agree on that.

the WB's are key to this formation and both sides are letting the side down.

amad is the only player who gets into our best 11 (which is not good enough) who can realise some profit. dalot is another, who i'd also sell.

casemiro will leave on a free so doesn't count.

    bruno…its worth a convo. i'd sell him.

in terms of buys…. for me cm, lwb, cm, rwb.

Watching MotD there and it seemed the 3 cb's left Amad exposed to do Yoros job with the positioning.

(Didnt get to see the match so only going off highlights)

    Smashing goal though.

Whatever dalot is sold for is pure psr money at this stage, so you could start there given we also have mazraoui who can play both sides and also in back 3. You would certainly be looking to sell there first given he doesn't need to be replaced

Zirzkee is another who can bring in some money probably get money back on him

even going by what you are saying why wouldn't you be selling mainoo before you sell Amad he isn't even playing.

Even if money in is your only motivation there are better places to go in the squad and that not even mentioning potentially selling Bruno to Saudi

Amad has only really played 9/10 games as rwb. He doing fine there, there's plenty more coaching to be done for him in that position defensively which will come and he's such a great threat going forward which won't need as much work.

Him and Mbeumo have looked well so far this season on that side imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,211 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

How much do you think we are getting for Amad? I think he can be fantastic for us but I don't see clubs queuing up to pay huge money for him.

The fee we get would basically be spent on getting his replacement, because we absolutely would need to replace him. So why do that?

I'm less concerned about the money anyway, we were supposed to be broke last season but then spent 250m in the summer. My bet is that they can afford a few wing backs without selling the fine china.

Why is there such a big conversation on selling Amad. Lad has done nothing wrong worthy of the conversation. I'd hate to sell him and reckon he'll thrive in the lwb given time to work on it. Valencia went to rw to rb.

Attaching wise he has it, defensively it'll come. He's better than say Frimpong who was absolutely suited for the lwb role a year ago. Give Amad time instead of jumping the gun after 10 games in the position.

Hes done it the right way, off on loan, came back and made his way in to the team. Mentally that's a huge positive.

All of the CM should be out primary focus next summer, two quality players are needed. Cas out of contract (think there is a year exstestion) but he won't be able to do 2 games a week if we get Europe for next season. He has a good 60/70mins with 1 gane a week now.

Not only him but our midfield has been lacking for years. Its been crying out for a rebuild. I think they will focus on the mid come the summer like they did the front line.

Front line was more important because we just haven't scored enough goals and if you look at the dross gotten rid off, it was the right call.

I see it as a new rebuild since the start of the season and ita going well enough so far.

Another summer window with Amorim I think we'll be well and truly up there if recruitment is right.

We never got that new manager bounce because it was.lads that just didnt give a shite up top. We've pretty much replaced that and we look.so.kuch better. Manager got the type of profile player he wanted and we're not looking too bad on the pitch.

why replace him? cos it aint good enough. what more reason do you need?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,211 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

Your last post said it was because he was the only one in the first 11 who would raise a profit. Thats why I asked what profit you think he raises.

Now you say he just isn't good enough. I disagree.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,007 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

The lad got caught out defensively today because the back 3 were out of position. He shouldn't have had to cover GW.

He got us the draw scoring goal with a beauty of a strike and hand the intelligence to follow up at the end only for it off the line

I'd much rather a goal scoring/craleating chances wb than a pure more defensive minded.

    Especially when it's a 3 cb system.

    Hes done nothing wrong

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,300 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

sorry if i wasn't clear. i dont think he is good enough while also returning max for ffp. on both counts he should be sold.

of out current best 11, he is a massive weak link. and dalot.

re selling price, whatever he is sold for. his nbv is 0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,211 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

For myself, I would have been happy enough to pass up on Cunha and just play Amad up front, I think there is goals and workrate galore in him if they just give him the jersey and play him up the field. Then there would have been 60m+ for midfielders/wing backs.

Playing him in a deeper defensive role like the new Antonio Valencia is a waste in my opinion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,264 ✭✭✭kowloonkev

    Agree.

I know we are all quite pleased with Mbeumo at the moment but actually as I said in the summer we've signed a player in his prime, who is going to hinder the development of a player with a higher potential in Amad.

At home, against weaker opposition particularly they can work well together. In more difficult matches Amad will never be effective because he simply doesn't want to be a defender and doesn't have the instincts for it.

The transfer strategy in the summer still baffles me why we bought two good players in Amad and Bruno's best positions.

Do people think our improvement in results is down to Amorim's coaching or just down to having better, well rested players on the pitch than last season, producing individual moments. Cause I think it's the latter.

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...

I bet if you looked top down over that ball it's still in play in that moment according to the current rule. However, it's a stupid rule and it should be if the ball is not physically touching the line then it's out. In that case, the ball is out of play in that picture.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,173 ✭✭✭NITRO95

What have I woken up to. Amad isn't good enough? Cunha and M'Buemo shouldn't have been bought? These ideas are so batshit I cant even comprehend making an argument against them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 819 ✭✭✭ngunners

Of course if the rules were different the result would be different. With the current rules the ball was still in play.

Possibly a mistake letting this lad leave.

I’ll admit I gave Ten Hag the benefit of the doubt but with hindsight what an awful decision. I know many on here called it at the time.

The improvement imo is largely down to much fewer games. Only need to concentrate on PL games which is a luxury few sides in the top half of the league get.

We don’t even have the distraction of the Carabao cup.

Mbeumo of course is an excellent signing. And he gives us so much more in attack. But we continue to leak sloppy goals which is a worry. And our away form is not good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,049 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

And if you were to sell Amad you still need to go out and buy a R10 to back up Mbeumo as well as the first choice RWB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,269 ✭✭✭paulbok

When you have two players that are not good enough for their position, you sell the worst one for a new XI starter and keep the other as back up.

Yes there are other considerations, value of player being sold, versatility etc, but unless you replace both at the same time (not the best strategy) you upgrade the lesser player. You can move on the second player the following year if he doesn't work out as a back-up.

Somewhat like we did with Onana/Bayindir.

Just watching the highlights of the game again on Fubo here - what a beautiful strike of the ball by Amad to score the equalizer that was.

Didn't play well really but ground out the draw never the less.

    Better Born Lucky Than Rich.
