If your hair is miniaturised or starting to become miniaturised it will eventually fall out and it's not coming back.

However if you take meds a lot of those follicles can be saved and brought back to fully working non miniaturised follicles.

Of course everybody is different and some people will be hyper responders to meds and some won't respond at all. The vast majority will be somewhere in the middle.

To your point,if you're not taking meds then yes these hairs will fall out anyway.Planting grafts in amongst them will hasten the process and kill off miniaturised/miniaturising follicles through the trauma of surgery.

This is an especially perilous situation for diffuse thinners and they are tricky cases. If it's a case of just receding then I think a non shave procedure is less of a risk.

I'm not sure which situation you were in yourself.

Dr Nel says has to be the first one.

Said this to me too, but then there are millions of men taking other brands around the world where it works for them, so are they all lying?

Was it always that expensive? Think it was 200 not too long ago. He will inspect your hair and take lots of pictures. He will give you an idea of how many grafts you need and the cost. He will also talk about specific meds to use. Thats the core of it anyway. He will give you a typed sumamry of everything too.

I was considering going abroad but think might be worth consultation first with Nel .Would like to get treatment in Ireland if possible.

from my research it’s it either Dr Nel or HRBR in Ireland, those are the two best options.

I am a medical consultant and received this email from HPRA regarding suicidal ideation with the use of oral Finasteride.

I want to make you all aware of it and seek help where necessary.

    Hi,

I’m looking for advice on a situation I am in. I had a hair transplant with an Irish clinic last year and I was not happy with the results. I was reassured several times after follow up consultations with the clinic after the procedure that everything was good and it looked well even though there were clearly lots of multiples in my hairline and my temples were out of shape. I went to two other clinics for a second opinion and they both stated there were clearly lots of multiples in my hairline and it looked doll like. They also stated my temples were out of shape. The second clinic wrote up a report with all the things that were wrong with it and the report stated that I would have to have multiple surgeries to fix it and I could be left with permanent scarring. I showed this report to the clinic and they again didn’t agree with anything that was in the report. They didn’t agree with what both clinics stated.

I had emailed the clinic months ago looking for documentation and the qualifications of who performed the procedure and who administered the anaesthetic etc but they didn’t send anything on and said they would discuss that when I go up for the final result at 12 months. I then went up for the 12 months meeting and they said to it looks good but the final result would not be until 18 months. They said there are not multiples and my hairline but clearly there are and my temple are off (I look like a doll). I then enquired about the documentation I had sent an email about and they said they would send it on the next day. Two weeks had passed and I emailed again and got a reply back saying they would send it on. 3 weeks later and nothing. I then tried ringing the clinic several times but there was no answer. I then got a text from the clinic saying the consultant I was dealing with was off sick and they would make contact when they were back. This was a couple of weeks ago.

Last week I got a phone call from a Garda station saying that they received a complaint that I harassed the consultant when I went for the 12 months consultation and the Garda said it would be best if I didn’t get in contact with the clinic again. I did not harass her at all.

I questioned the clinic at the 12 months checkup about who performed the procedure and they said technicians who have qualifications to do hair transplants and administer anaesthetic did it. They also said there was a doctor there on the day but I saw no doctor. They said there was a doctor in the doorway when I was face down getting the anaesthetic but I didn’t see them. I queried that I didn’t see any doctor when I was face up getting the anaesthetic either and they got defensive with me.

I didn’t meet any doctor. Any research I did online states that a doctor must administer the anaesthetic, do the incisions and perform the procedure with technicians working under the guidance of the doctor. The technicians are not meant to do the whole procedure. The doctor is meant to be there and oversee everything. I don’t know where to go from here. The clinic are playing dirty contacting the Gardai and accusing me of harassment. I don’t know what they are going to come out with next. I think they may know they would be in **** if it’s found out they used unqualified technicians to do everything without even a doctor there. (Why are they so reluctant to send on documentation I requested months ago?). It’s the fact they made a **** of it and I will have to go through it all again multiple times to fix things. It will also cost thousands to fix and now they are contacting the Gardai about me. They seem very reluctant to engage with me regarding documentation I requested.

Sorry to hear about this situation.

I would engage a solicitor before doing anything else.I hope you have proof of the timeline and your actions.

it's incredible that a Gard would actually call you about this,I'd be interested to hear what the clinic said to him to do this or what proof of harassment they produced.

Welcome to boards vibe75. I dont understand why someone has thanked you for that long whining post. If you are on Fin you need to read very carefully what masterboy123 has posted above. You should also read back through other posters experiences . One poster in particular zeebre12 will be of great interest. He has the same problem and uses the same style and wording as you. Coincidentally in post 2599 I pointed out the risk he was taking with Fin also.

I actually presumed it was some kind of prank call at first as it was a private number and the Garda didn’t have great English. He was the most incompetent guard I have ever came across. He just told me to stay away from the clinic and suggested I find another clinic. I said what use would finding another clinic be as this was the clinic I was dealing with.

I asked him what proof they had and was it just one occasion they accused me of harassment. He said he couldn’t tell me that it was private information. He said I have to call to the station to discuss things further. I told him I was over two hours away and couldn’t go.
I queried could I still email/phone clinic but he just said don’t get in contact. I explained I was seeking documentation. He was a bit arrogant and said just find another clinic. I rang him again today and asked him to explain the ‘harassment’ again but after the phone call I’m actually none the wiser. I asked could I speak to someone over him to discuss the matter as I was having trouble understanding him but he said it was his case and just to stay away. I’m actually perplexed with the whole situation. I rang the Garda station about the situation and asked could I speak to someone else about the alleged harassment but they said this was the Garda to contact.

When I went back for the 12 month check up the clinic said they would give me a refund and pay an extra €2k as long as I signed an NDA. I said the extra procedures were going to cost a lot more than that as I’m going to have to go to a more specialised clinic to have it fixed. I said I wasn’t willing to come to an agreement until they send me on the documentation.

What was whining about his post? He clearly had a bad experience with a clinic in Ireland and should name the clinic to warn others to their due diligence.

What has finasteride got to do with having bad hair transplant performed by incompetent clinics?

For what its worth to anybody reading, Dr Nel or if you re rolling in money Blackrock are the only 2 clinics that are decent in Ireland. Ailesbury i have seen results from there that were shocking tbh not to mention any other clinics that have popped up lately.

    20/20 didn't read vibe75's post i think...it was nothing to do with Finasteride 😆

@vibe75 It sounds like a case of malpractice and you have all the evidence you need to sue, but going legal route is long slow painful and expensive 😞

Them offering you a refund on condition you dont tell anyone who did the botch job means they acknowledge they f*cked up, but also means that you can't warn anyone else about them... I think its best to take the money and sign the NDA as even if you do reveal their name here then there will be countless others that are not following this thread that will end up going there anyway and on top of that you will be out of pocket the refund.

People who follow this thread already know the people to go to so they are unlikely to visit your clinic regardless if you name it or not.

Wow,jumping in two footed on a vulnerable poster is a d1ckhead move at the best of times.

The fact you're sh1tting on about finesteride when he never mentioned that just amplifies your stupidly.

I was in contact with someone else who had a bad experience with the clinic a few months ago. He put a bad review on Trustpilot including pictures of his bad result. The clinic asked him to take it down and they gave him a refund as long as he signed an NDA, which he did. This was just leaving a bad review on Trustpilot. I have not left any kind of review on Trustpilot or anything yet.

With me it’s not just a bad hair transplant but the fact that unqualified technicians may have performed it. The doctor who is on their website definitely was not there on the day and I had no interaction with them. If they did use unqualified technicians and the Medical Council were to find out they used unqualified technicians for the whole procedure they would be in serious legal and regulatory trouble. The thoughts of going down the legal route and the expense of it all. I’m going to get in contact with the Data Protection Commission as I think I have the right to my documentation within a certain timeframe of me requesting it and see what they have to say.

Name and shame the clinic. I’m sceptical that it was a real Gard that rang you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 vibe75

It actually was a real guard after. I rang the station and they put me through to him and gave me his email address. I asked could I speak to someone else about it but they said he was the guard dealing with it.

If wrong I would apologise to vibe75. But I suspect vibe75 and zeebre12 are thee same person. zeebre12 has made countless complaints here about his transplant using the same terminogly as vibe75, even his time-frame for the transplant is the same. zeebre12 is using Fin from webdoctor and said he was depressed as a result of his transplant which was why I pointed out the risk using Fin. zeebre12 had his transplant done at MHR Clinic. Where did vibe75 get his done ??

If I was in this position I would gather all the evidence, hire a solicitor and start legal proceedings against this clinic. They have pretty much accepted responsibility by offering an extra 2K. I would also contact the medical council regarding this clinic and log a complaint ASAP. Even just for your records, once this progresses legally. It will also let this clinic know that you are very serious. Repairing a botched hair transplant is tricky, and most reputable clinics will actually charge an increased free per graft for repair. You also have to bear in mind that you only have so much donor hair so hopefully not many grafts were taken initially. Only my opinion but I would go legal as the cost of fixing this mess will probably cost you multiples of what you paid for the initial procedure. Best of luck with this, it can't be easy on you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 vibe75

I’m unsure what to do. I mentioned it to a solicitor and they said I would have to be left with some sort of scarring as a result of a procedure for it to be worth my while going ahead with anything legal. I went to a reputable clinic for a second opinion and they did say it would cost multiples and several procedures would be needed. This is in a report. The thing is the grafts are wrongly placed as well as multiples and I’m not left with scarring yet but when these grafts get taken out (They have to go back and take the graft out 3-4 times to actually have it completely gone). This is where scarring may be left.

I’d rather make some sort of settlement with the clinic than going the legal route. A refund and an extra €2k is not enough for what I’m going to have to go through and have gone through as well as the extra thousands the procedures will cost. Making a complaint of harassment I think may be a way of scaring me away.

Having been through the legal route myself for a clear cut case (something non hair related!) took 2 years and lots of moola... lots of stress too.

Consider if it's really worth your time and be prepared for a lengthy time waiting for responses from the other side 😞

Ultimately you may just be rewarded the refund plus costs for legal fees. You might get more but no guarantee.

My 2 cents are to take the money... interesting you knew about the other TripAdvisor review though. How did u find out if it was removed?
