Backyard rentals/Granny Flats, owner occupier?

Hi There,

Looking at an ad on Daft for a rental in a small granny flat in a large back garden, the ad states that this is an owner occupier situation, would that be accurate, and is that the norm for these kinds of properties for rental?

These structures are mean for the owners family use only. Are not allowed to be rented. That used to be the case anyhow unless it's changed in the last few years

they are trying to say you are licencee and that they are claiming if rent a room relief. I don’t believe that is the case when the property is not attached to the main dwelling

The rented room or rooms can be a self-contained unit within the house, such as a basement flat or a converted garage.

If this unit is not attached to the property it cannot qualify for the relief
