it's the other way around, it's the fans who can't be trusted not to be the thuglife that they are so had to be prevented from traveling to protect the british people.

they are the threat to the locals, not the locals to them, just like in amsterdam and everywhere else they go, slobbering and smashing up the place.

the correct decision was taken, good news for the majority.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

the respective govts of these countries are turning against their own civilian populations by (ab)using law enforcement +justice systems to outlaw +silence protest by intimidation (arrest) +imprisonment of well educated +well informed middle class ‘pillars of society’ for daring to challenge their political MASTERS

    this will not end well

Are you completely stupid, Israel has committed genocide and war crimes and too much to list here … I don’t give a **** about Muslims or Jews or Pastafarians, I care about people, humans suffering! Israel is causing a whole lot of suffering!

Support for, and membership of, Hamas is not a finite quantity. Some people will be persuaded to join by further Israeli incursions into Gaza as we know from our own history. Not that I want to see any more of that. Hamas are a very bad idea, albeit an understandable one under the dire circumstances in Gaza. They have led a lot of good people astray. Secular social democracy is the way to go.

we all know the real reason.

Yes, we all do know the real reason. They're racist bastards with a shitty history, even toward their own team members, that will use the current situation as an excuse to cause trouble.

    Good riddance and no loss.

Pro Palestine protesters have disrupted a speech at a tech conference by ex Ireland rugby player Brian O'Driscoll.

The Cyber Leader Summit Dublin 2025 was organised by Check Point, a cybersecurity company with offices in Tel Aviv and California. Some members of the company’s executive team previously served with the Israeli military.

Ireland has a problem here. Look at the cvs of these guys:

Check Point chief executive Nadav Zafrir “established the Israel Defense Forces’ Cyber Command and served as Commander of the elite Unit 8200, retiring as a Brigadier General”, the company’s website notes.

Chief strategy officer Roi Karo served for more than 25 years in the IDF; chief technology officer Jonathan Zanger previously led research and development operations for Unit 8200, the Israeli military intelligence unit; and chief information officer Alex Spokoiny held engineering leadership positions in the Israeli Air Force, according to Check Point’s website.

Check Point’s partners include Google, Microsoft and Amazon.

Basically, they sound like they were spies in their time and is there such a thing as an ex-spy? Now they are at the heart of the companies sustaining Ireland’s prosperity. Tricky.

I think some British soccer fans might have relished having a reasoned conversation with the Maccabi fans. I doubt very much they would have been "allowed" be violent in Birmingham.

Better they're not allowing them in for their own safety…

The treatment of some hostages/prisoners/detainees on both sides has been appalling. They should be investigated and those responsible punished.

But as we know, when the Israeli police attempted to arrest those IDF who anally raped the Palestinian prisoner, the IDF pulled out their guns and ran them out.

As regards the Red Cross, the IDF record on executing medics is well known. I'd imagine that even if allowed into Gazan tunnels, most if not all Red Cross medics would refuse. If it were me, I'd be terrified of being sniped, bombed or facing a Merkava Battle Tank like Hind Rajab and the two medics who tried to rescue her.

You're assuming the Israelis who want to go to Birmingham are football fans. They're not. They're thugs. The UK is preventing those thugs trashing Birmingham and terrorising the locals.

That such thugs would likely be met "in kind" is a consideration of course.

As "fallen" as the UK might be, they haven't reached the stage where they are bombing their neighbours daily and committing Genocide.

Starmer is very much on the payroll of Israel as he continues bleats about any kind of restriction or condemnation of genocide

UEFA getting involved in requesting Israeli fans attend the match. The police have done this to ensure security which they have concerns about, that is their job.

Not at all. Conflating ignorance with disagreement says what is evident among the anti israel lobby on this thread

Saying Israel was gifted to them is like saying the British gifted Ireland to the Irish . We had no control over the land for centuries. Perhaps we should just give Ireland back to Westminster and be done with it.

Starmer is a disgrace. Forever going on about anti-Semitism in the UK, but has much less to say about the issue of Islamophobia. Even many decent British Jewish people have made this point, how anti-Semitism is being absolutely weaponised by every self-serving creep in UK politics and the media (the new leader of the Green Party is one of those drawing attention to it).

The argument here is they have a right to violently remove the actual native people from Palestine

That the made up argument in your head, same with the made up genocide of 80K over 2 years of intense urban warfare.

The jews have a right to live there in peace and to do whatever it takes to ensure that peace. That doesn't preclude palestinians from living there in peace as well, as long as they keep the peace. And in the interest of that peace and national security Israel can claim their right to deny them an independent state on that territory.

    From wikipedia.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maccabi_Tel_Aviv_F.C.

A survey conducted in March 2012 by Yedioth showed that Maccabi Tel Aviv was the second-most popular team among Israeli football fans (23%) right after rivals Maccabi Haifa (28%). The same survey revealed that 33% of Tel Aviv residents support the team.[25]

Reports by the New Israel Fund have found Maccabi Tel Aviv as having the second-most racist fans in Israel, behind Beitar Jerusalem.[26][27][28]

Fans have been known to yell racist slurs and insults at Arab and black players.[29][30][31][27] Players on the team often face racist abuse from the team's own fans.[31][32] Fans would yell anti-Arab slurs at Maharan Radi, an Arab player,[33][34] and yell monkey noises at Baruch Dego, an Ethiopian-Jewish player.[35][32]

During the 2020–2021 protests against Benjamin Netanyahu, Maccabi fans attacked protestors with batons and broken bottles

Sounds to me like those lads don't even want to live in peace with their own, let alone the "Arabs"..

"Fans would yell anti-Arab slurs at Maharan Radi, an Arab player, and yell monkey noises at Baruch Dego, an Ethiopian-Jewish player."

    Charming…

I doubt many people in Britain are bothered about Maccabi Tel Aviv fans not being allowed to attend a football match. Especially after how a lot of them behaved in Holland recently. As it was with Glastonbury, the apparent wide spread rage isn't really that wide spread at all. And is being inflated by right wing rags like The Mail, and lobby groups like UK Lawyers for Israel.

Starmer, of course, as always, will try to pander to the right on this. And in return will receive their undying hatred.

There is no issue with allowing any fans from any team/sport attending their team's events at home or abroad.

In the case of Maccabi, they're not fans - they're thugs and hooligans and have consistently demonstrated that fact.

same with the made up genocide

Many reputable bodies, politicians, scholars and academics, including Jewish representatives and even Holocaust survivors agree that Israel is committing Genocide. So, its not made up.

The jews have a right to live there in peace and to do whatever it takes to ensure that peace.

Of course Israelis (including Jews, Arabs and Christians) have a right to peace - and to do whatever if necessary within the boundaries of International Law. Which is the problem. Israel flouts the law daily and ignores the UN and ICJ constantly. It is illegally occupying Palestinian land and is grabbing more of it. Yes, they can do whatever they like on their own land but right now, they are the only State that is actively pursuing "from the river to the sea".

Israel is an apartheid terrorist Genocidal State - which is why it is now a World Pariah and will remain so for decades until they can show they deserve not to be labelled as such.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,482 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

The 'real' reason the usual suspects are up in arms about this in the UK is that they know that the Maccabi hooligans are fellow right wing racists and Islamophobes like themselves, plus are Zionists who support Netanyahu. 'Birds of a feather' and all that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,379 ✭✭✭Spudmonkey

Whilst the Maccabi fans are a welcome distraction for some Dmc, you know yourself that's all it is.

    • Israel is still bombing Lebanon despite there being a ceasefire….
    • Still kidnapping and murdering Palestinians….. in the West Bank…
    • Still ethnically cleansing….. Christians… in the West Bank, not even Muslims…
    • Still refusing aid into Gaza, returning Palestinians missing body parts.
    • Still murdering civilians in Gaza.

Amongst a litany of other cartoonishly evil shit. Of course that'll never make the news though. Keir Starmer will do everything in his power to defend and deflect and draw attention to supporters of a club that even seem to have a problem with "brown" Jews…

Seems former British-Israeli hostage Emily Damari has completely swallowed the Hasbara.

I wonder if she is equally "shocked to her core" at the Israeli executions of circa 1000 children who didn't even reach their first birthday.

To be honest, I'd simply ban any Israeli sports team from playing outside of Israel. Just like the world has done with Russia. Israel is way worse than Russia.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,445 ✭✭✭Cordell

They put the safety of their own people above international law, which to me is perfectly acceptable. You see, many countries who accuse them of securing land by military force (or land grab as you like) did just that in the past, they has their chance when the international law was different. Then they made the law to say that it can't happen anymore. Well, Israel is now making up for time lost.

Made up argument? You are all over the place. This is a direct quote from you:

The land was taken from them, and now they want it back - call this what you want but not colonialism, because it isn't.

What could you possibly be talking about there other than Israel's colonization of the West bank and this genocidal landgrab for Gaza? You aren't talking about Israel, as they already have a country there, so they can't "want back" what they already own, can they?

And also, you are incorrect, genocide has been declared by virtually all international agencies that do this stuff, your claim that they are all antisemetic is absolute trash. You have still not provided a smidgen of proof that led you to type that.

We also see what is likely, at best, an 70:30, but far more likely 80:20 Gazan civilian to combatant ratio. So not comparable with other wars. And when the ratio of those killed overall are 98:2 Gazan Vs Israeli, this is even more skewed. Unprecedented in war I would say.

And lastly - stop calling Israelis "Jews". First of all, they arent all Jewish, and second of all, this war has nothing to do with Judaism as much as you want to hive mind them all. Can you not see how antisemetic it is to portray this genocide as being in anyway representative of Jews, rather than the policies of the lunatics in power in Israel?

And when attacks happen like in Manchester where a British man killed who AKAIK had no connection whatsoever to Israel, you lads hide behind your rocks as though you hadn't been implicating them all along with these statements.

You think it's ok to make antisemetic remarks because you hate Muslims just that little bit more, but it really isn't and it's very obvious.
