There's a report that after Trump declared his intent on putting the extra 100% tariff on China, there was a crash in the value of Cryptocurrency. If it's true, then it would surely have had a knock-on effect on Trump-family holdings of the currency, including his own version. https://www.msn.com/en-ie/news/world/crypto-tycoon-found-dead-with-gunshot-wound-to-his-head-inside-lamborghini/ss-AA1OqoWp?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=86fbd93ff579478cca4b6fdf4202f6ae&ei=69

There's an ongoing case before a Louisiana court between the DOJ and several Gun Rights (2nd amendment) groups. Apparently the judge hearing the case sided with the DOJ on the issue and handed down his order to that effect. There's been a however in the case as the judge may have gone beyond what the DOJ wanted as both the DOJ and the Guns Rights groups have jointly appealed the judges order, seeking to have it amended.

The rights group is the S.A.F. (2nd Amendment Foundation). Earlier this week, the court entered a judgment that contained an unexpected directive: “Within twenty-one days of issuance of this Judgment, those Plaintiffs…shall provide to Defendants a verified list of their members as of November 6, 2020.”

SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb called the court's requirement "egregious," stating, "In all my years working in and around the Second Amendment litigation space I have never seen such an egregious order issued by the court.” Gottlieb vowed to "fight tooth and nail to protect the privacy of all SAF members" and expressed hope that the joint motion with the DOJ would resolve the issue permanently.

The Reese v. ATF case also includes plaintiffs the Firearms Policy Coalition, the Louisiana Shooting Association, and three private citizens: Joseph Granich, Emily Naquin, and Caleb Reese. The motion filed today seeks to remove the requirement for the SAF to disclose its membership roster, focusing on protecting the privacy rights of its members.

There is an underlying case before the courts on a Guns Sales issue: The underlying lawsuit challenges a federal law prohibiting licensed firearm dealers from selling or transferring handguns to adults under the age of 21. I'm assuming the date specified in the judges order on the handover may be the issue as the presidential election vote was on the 03 Nov 2020.

You should try shooting yourself in the ear. That seems to heal quicker.

From the pain of it, getting shot is probably less painful.

The Guardian have a piece on the Gaza summit and show Trump's amazing diplomacy in action including praising Orban and Erdogan, snarky comments, and - it being Trump - saying, when talking about Orban: “I know a lot of people don’t agree with me, but I am the only one that matters.” Narcissism to the extreme.

All the other world leaders standing behind him clapping. Do they not see how nauseating that looks to their voters?

    They are all so spineless.

So of course he talks like that. That is exactly how he is treated. The more he offends them the more they applaud and give in to him.

You can be 100% sure that everyone of them told him that the Noble Prize was on the bag for 2026 and they would personally be lobbying for him.

IMF yesterday upgraded expected US growth. Somewhat surprising.

I'm afraid you have it a bit amis, and it also is more a mechanism issue than a legal issue. The law in question (prohibiting sales of handguns from 18-20-year-olds) was declared unconstitutional by the Fifth Circuit back in January, the District Court was merely providing an order commensurate with the Fifth Circuit's instructions. (As an aside, the Fourth Circuit came to the conclusion that the law was constitutional in June, leading to a circuit split which the Supreme Court will have to address).

So, the district judge basically said "OK, my higher says you guys won. Thus, I'll apply this ruling to protect everyone in the lawsuit. Granich, Naquin, Reese and the FPC and LSA members. Feds, you are prohibited from applying that law to these people within the three states within the jurisdiction of the Fifth Circuit."

However, to enact it, he ordered that the associations hand over their membership information to the feds so that the feds knew who was covered.

Both sides took issue with this. The associations went "Hang on, forcing us to report membership to the government is violating our First Amendment freedom of association rights and our Fourth Amendment rights to privacy", whilst the Federal Government went "Judge, you can't seriously expect us to keep track of every member by name within the States of Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi and keep that list updated and current?"

As of today, the judge vacated his order, and set an appointment for both sides to call in for a re-wording. I suspect it'll result simply in an enjoining against enforcing that law against 18-20-year-olds in the three States.

Looks like Trump has a plan lined up to get back at Chyyyna for buying Soyabeans from more reliable suppliers instead.

Donnie, the grown-up way to play if someone does not want to buy what you are offering, is to make the item more attractive in some way, not stamp your foot and sulk. Still, you don't play grown up golf, and you don't have a grown-up approach to things like Peace Prizes or decorating your office so I don't suppose we can expect any better.

he can be influenced by praise and gifts. It’s disgusting but it’s the smart play.

It's what has to be done. Be grateful he's not doing a Tony Soprano and demanding 10% of everyone's gross tax take for "protection".

Not a lot of difference really.

Tony Soprano`s 10% would be shared around his mafia family.

Trump`s big beautiful bill will take cuts from health and other services for citizens to be shared around his own mafia family of billionaires.

James Comey moves to boot Trump's prosecutor Lindsey Halligan out of job

"Halligan, 36, has come under fire after Trump appointed her to prosecute his perceived enemies, even though other officials at the Department of Justice refused to do so. The former Miss Colorado contestant had no experience prosecuting federal cases before her appointment. She had served as Trump's personal lawyer since November 2021."

Trump must be convinced he has Comey nailed allowing Miss Colorado to finish the job.

What have any of them got out of it? Trade-imposed tariffs is making trade an investment harder. If the UK, which has completely sided with Trump, got nothing of benefit out of the almost embarrassing levels of arse-licking.

Trump takes whatever you give him, banks it, and makes the next demand.

On a linked theme, I assume that ethnic Chinese cooking is still a practice in the U.S amongst it's Chinese population and they would (I presume) still be users of soybeans and the side product soybean/plant oil, presumably not imported into the U.S.

Trump doesn't actually care about the outcome , it's about the Performance.

The plan here was to charge Comey , get a perp-walk and then slow walk the prosecution (because they don't actually have a case) but they'd still be able to call him a "criminal" and Trump could spout crap about it , at least until after the mid-terms.

They didn't get the Perp-walk (and the guy that refused to do it got fired by Kash Patel)

And now , the Judge isn't letting them fanny around and delay so the case is likely to fall apart much much quicker than they'd like.

SCOTUS to hear challenge to the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Louisiana is challenging a requirement to add a second majority Black district. Louisiana is one third Black.

Since 2012, when SCOTUS, in the Shelby County case, struck down DOJ pre clearance of changes to electoral laws in states with a history of racial disenfranchisement, there has been a growth of voter suppression, and racial gerrymandering. The courts have sometimes blocked gerrymandering though, and in Wisconsin struck down gerrymandered maps in the state assembly. Wisconsin's Supreme Court is elected though and is a 50:50 Left-Right state. Wisconsin's Congressional maps are still gerrymandered since 2010 especially
