I just ate a banana at my desk. There is a small bin beside me but I didn't want to dump the banana skin in there, so instead, I flung it towards the slightly bigger bin about 5 or 6 metres away to my side (and with my left hand!), and it dropped right in. 😎

It's the little things that make life worth living… 😄

the mother is flying out tomorrow to visit her sister who is in care in the UK last 4 months. Worried about the condition she’ll be in….but prob more immediately panicked about being stuck in a metal tube for 80 minutes in pretty shîtty weather but I checked the forecast and if the plane goes in and around on time there will be decent lull in the bad weather and it won’t be too bad. Reassured her I think. That’s if the plane is on time. Fingers crossed🤞

Met somebody earlier, conversation started by the other person with a loud, oh my god, I haven't seen you in at least five years! Had a five minute chat and caught up on all that was new with her and me.

TH that I managed to do that when even now, I have absolutely no idea who she was.

    I never recognise anyone, I'm a disaster.

Sometimes it helps if I imagine them with a completely different hairstyle.

Sometimes it’s nice to spend a few hours in a people free zone just to unwind doing something you enjoy 😎

I complimented the off licence guy on his friendliness as I purchased my vino. I love good customer service. As I was leaving he said that I had made his weekend ☺️

Nephew aged 9 (very sensible for his age) was at an open day for a secondary school. He took these notes while the teacher was talking.

Good cooking - Prize thing for being good - good grades - cool trips

I definitely wasn’t like him at his age.

Sunday evening and a courier arrives with my stuff. Thought that the SMS that came earlier was a mistake confirming delivery today but nope. One item was a new phone case. Spent a bit more cash and went for a decent genuine leather one, as the one I bought when I got the phone only a few months ago literally fell apart. I’m impressed, it’s great quality.

Went over to see the parents on Sunday. Watched “Rebel Education” with the auld fella, a long retired teacher. Now in his third decade out of the teaching profession.

It was funny listening to him (normally a man of few words) suddenly regale me with untold stories of his teaching career.

And watch his frustration at students on the TV programme not sitting properly at their desk, talking, or not wearing proper uniform.

His stories ranged from the endearing :

“I simplified my class one time because one fella was really struggling. Then looked out for his result specifically, he passed got a D”

    To the ridiculous:

“There was a girl who said to me, my brother got a C+ in this class, if I don’t get a C it is your fault!”

Then the auld fella randomly reminisces “She smelled that one”.

    Me: What?

AF: She didn’t wash right, I think.

Me: What did you do Dad?

AF: Ah I told one of the wimmin teachers, let her solve it, Home Economics or something…

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

found my missing phone, It fell out of my pocket in the car this morning, didn’t feel or hear it drop. Also it inexplicably ended up under the car seat. I looked everywhere and was convinced I’d lost it whilst out. Whatever about the money replacing it but all the hassle involved in reinstalling apps, cancelling number, and whatever other fûckery involved but nope. I have it back… 😮‍💨 😎

Thinking of applying for a job. There's a former colleague who used to work at the company. Haven't seen him in at least a few years. He randomly walks into the lab because there's a talk at work he's interested in. Completely random.

had a great walk earlier, unusual to be out at 7pm in Ireland in October in a long sleeve tshirt but was so nice and instead of the usual 40 minute route went the long way, 65 minutes of a very brisk walk with my favourite music for company on the headphones. Nice, enjoyable and cathartic…

    Some people.

My housemate gets home yesterday. She puts a message on our Whatsapp group saying that there is a cat blocking the gate to the house and she asks for advice. Ordinarily, I find this sort of thing a bit frustrating but I really like cats so I found it quite funny. It must have moved as she found her way inside.

neighbours mates arrived for a session bout 45 mins ago. The usual…door opens and they are roaring and shrieking at each other to the extent that you’d genuinely need to suspect a degree of mental illness..and I do. Significantly beyond plain old general eccentricity. Bunch of melts. The good news and the TH, it’s absolutely pissing rain so they won’t be making it an outdoors shindig tonight as they are accustomed to doing 🚬🌿… so I get to relax, in peace with tunes, and then sleep. 🤞 Those of you with good neighbours, cherish them, lucky bastards. I’m just delighted I’ve been saved by the rain from these creeps and their antics…

TH that I've parked in a car park, an older lady was standing around apparently waiting for her equally elderly friend. The friend arrived and whipped out a bag of Werther's Originals to offer her pal. Made me laugh to see the one holding the bag of sweets and the other one digging around the bag to get one 😂

Along similar lines, earlier I was watching the Liverpool-Man United match, and at one stage the camera went to the former Man United manager Alex Ferguson offering a bag of Cadbury's Buttons to Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish. 😄

Yeah. I assumed she meant car but I don't know why someone would park that way. I actually think it was the orange cat who roams around.

Asked Google to play Radio 2; I meant to say RTE Radio 2, but it put on BBC Radio 2. The music was great! Nice change.

Ages ago I mentioned the trivial annoyance of having misplaced my bank card, but I didn't cancel it because I knew it was in the house somewhere. After threatening to cancel it multiple I decided to cancel it next week, after the bank holiday weekend.

Last night it appeared in a location I had checked a few times! (So it's not always in the last place you look, it was in the 3rd place I looked. 😉). Anyway, after 3 and half months, I have my card back! 😎

[A related TH is that its disappearance forced me to use Google Pay on my phone, which is handy to have but not always ideal.]
